Good timing to find this! I'm going to the Tasman Revival meeting at Eastern Creek next weekend. There will be Brabhams, Formula 5000's and other open wheel action.

Tasman Series Revival

I went along to the meeting at Eastern Creek yesterday and it was great - they said the biggest crowd after the V8 Supercars meeting!

Legendary cars like the Ian "Pete" Geoghan Mustang & Matich SR3 & 4 - what a sound they made! (not to mention the F5000's)

It would be great to see a Lola T332 in GTR2 - an open wheeler with that awesome V8 sound!

Brabham is back...and being sued!
Official Statement From the Brabham Family About Products at the 2008 Essen Motor Show
No connection exists between the Brabham family and products being marketed at the European auto show November 20, 2008 — Sir Jack Brabham and his Son David Brabham have issued the following statement:
The Brabham family would like to absolutely and categorically state that the range of cars and accessories being publicised under the Brabham name at the Essen Motor Show 2008 and on global websites, has nothing to do with the Brabham family, or its long and respected motor racing heritage, in any way.
It is clear to us, as it must be to the whole world, what these people are trying to do. In our opinion, it is a clear case of using our name, our history and our success, without the backing of the Brabham family.
The following weblinks will show you some of the reasons for our concerns:

The 50th anniversary of Jack Brabham’s first Formula One Championship crown is approaching in 2009.
In light of this announcement and the celebrations planned, we would respectfully request that in publishing press material from Veritas-Brabham, BMW Brabham or Brabham Racing, you understand that the Brabham family have no involvement nor endorse the products and services offered by the aforementioned companies and that no relationship should be implied in any story published.

Mazdaspeed 3 2010

Now that the new Mazda3 has been shown off to the public, it seems that engineers at Mazda are plowing ahead with another new version of the car, the fire-breathing 2010 Mazdaspeed3.
The first super noticeable feature on the upcoming white hot hatch is the massive scoop that graces the front hood, surely an add worthy of a second glance from even the most died-the-wool Subaru junkie. That intake is likely there to feed a turbocharged 2.5-liter four, with Mazda said to increasing displacement just a bit for this generation of Speed3. The resultant powerplant should be good for at least 300 horsepower, and may even signal a shift to an all-wheel-drive vehicle—though a front driver is still the most likely configuration.
An impressive set of front and rear spoilers, as well as two hefty exhaust pipes help to complete the look of the ultra aggressive Mazda; making our hearts beat a little faster at the prospect of our first drive in the process.

Fiat 500 Abarth SS

You have to admire Fiat's spunky rejuvenated Abarth division. Its first model is barely on the market yet, its second model is about to be unveiled, and it's already taking on challengers and shouting "What's next?" At a media preview for the new 500 Abarth in Turin, Italy, Fiat confirmed speculation that an even more powerful version would be offered as soon as November of this year. The 500 Abarth being shown in Geneva is equipped with a 135-hp turbo four, while the "esse-esse" (read: SS) kit will offer a host of performance and visual upgrades to bring the sprightly retromobile up to 160 hp. HKS Hyundai Genesis coupe

I know I know, it's a Hyundai - but at just over 300 hp, rear wheel drive, and an unbeatable price, it just might be the sleeper of the year. Hyundai also offers 10 years factory warranty. It looks good too.
