I don't understand if this mod:
1) just replace the names, and AI stats are the stock one.
2) replace the names and (without adding stats in the .xml files) all drivers are the same as performance.

Furthermore, if the 1) is the right one, I'd like to know if stock AI are randomized (just like old PC2) or are balanced. So, I'd like to know if it is needed to edit the AI after replacing names to create realistic driver performance or not needed because Reizas do it properly. Thanks.

Short Answer: Yes, AI attributes are handled differently in AMS2 than in PCARS2. Wherever possible, NAMeS files utilize the underlying AI attributes already provided by Reiza, so no further changes are needed.

Long Answer: Read the Overview page starting at "Introducing the Real Drivers of AMS2" all the way through "Further Modifications"

Aristotelean "Golden Mean" answer:

1) Most AI in AMS2 have quasi-fictional names (that correspond to real drivers), each with individual driver attributes curated by Reiza. NAMeS converts all of these quasi-fictional drivers (or as many as possible given the contraints of the each category, or changed to permit likely sets of multiclass racing without duplication) into their real-world counterparts. The underlying AI behavior crafted by Reiza is left as-is (Senna will be at the sharp end of the grid where he belongs in 90/91, but a bit less so in 92/93), or to provide a solid baseline for further "line-item" attribute editing if desired.

2) Some AI in AMS2 already have their real driver names (e.g., Stock Car Brasil). NAMeS simply adds diacritics (accents) as needed to driver names and, once again, leaves the AI behavior as designed by Reiza intact.

3) A few categories have unique amalgams of fake name drivers that for various reasons do not match up with real driver names. NAMeS updates these categories to supply real driver names that are matched up with underlying AI attributes to approximate the relevant season.

4) There are a few Reiza Backer categories that are comprised of a random selection from a larger pool of Reiza staff and initial backers who paid extra in early access to have their names added to the sim. NAMeS adds real drivers to these classes. By default, NAMeS utilizes Reiza's underlying, randomized attribute values (so that drivers' skills will vary from race), but these categoroes are few in number and in classes that are more akin to track day events, etc. NAMeS does provide alternative files (containing specific attributes) for these Reiza Backer classes if the user prefers to utilize these.

Hope this helps.
