Disappointing qualifying, couldn't get into the 2.36s which would have given me the position I was expecting.
Took it ultra careful at the start and lost some places, putting me close to the back.
End of lap 1 Mika went onto the grass thorough the Chase and I tried to go way left to avoid him coming back on track. Unfortunately he just clipped me into my own spin and trip to the grass, losing a chunk of time.
Rejoined and started chasing Markus ahead on lap 2. Stayed close and got a run down the Conrod Straight and got ahead into the Chase. Had the racing line and was ahead turning into the left hander but Markus braked later and came alongside. As I turned in I clipped him into a spin. I really wasn't expecting him to be there and he may have braked too late to make the corner. Regardless, I waited near the pitlane entry for ages for him to rejoin so I was dead last and a long way from the front.
Got past Markus again and had a run in clear air. Colin was behind me so I thought he must have stopped early. He started to catch me and once he got on my tail I pitted to avoid fighting. Strategy worked as I got lots of laps in clear air and made up some time.
Final laps were a fun 5 car battle with Raul, Mika, Wayne and Colin. Finished 14th in the end.
I'm trying not to be too disappointed as last Bathurst I DNF after 4 laps and multiple crashes. So I am significantly better as I only had one touch of a wall right at the end. I need to work on avoiding incidents, although some are purely down to bad luck and out of my control.
