Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Guys, we're in the middle of a storm here, with hailstorm and whatsoever, currently without any power supply, so it is unlikely that I'll manage to join the race, coz even if the power returns, I'll have to start counting the damages..

hi All.

been trying to join you but being told that I have the wrong Password !!

wont repeat it here but will need to double check before the next race. hope the race goes well. Ce La Vie..

good luck all. unti the next time.

No Hank blamed myself for the knock, probably a racing incident. But I went for it instead of waiting for the next straightaway opportunity.
I thought about it and decided I did not want 55 minutes of constantly looking over my shoulder. The third was probably my best shot, in the end very happy to come in after Han, at least we got two Abarths in the top 5 , no mean feat here. ( plus I hate this circuit ):O_o:
So very happy with my race, and a well done to the podiums, a great race for me with plenty to think about, and a great turnout to.:):):)

It was really nice and clean race, thank you all. Unfortunately my race finished few meters before the finish line :(
Oh no, that's really too bad. If you would be using Race Essentials I could send you an edited version that also has lap and fuel estimations for timed races (did that for myself because it has the fields for it but only calculates it with fixed laps).
And no worries about the spin up the mountain again, I just did a short 360 and continued. Thanks for waiting there , just saw it in the replay, I actually thought you ended up sideways.

It might have just been these 5s in the end to @H_Belane, but I guess first of all Hank took it easy in the last few laps (because I really gained 1-2s per lap there :O_o:) and second I did more damage to myself either way.
Laurent really had to do some parkour the first few laps to dodge me, while I tested the bounces off of every wall there is on the mountain and did some drifts for the fans. After finally hitting it hard enough to let 5 people by, pitting was definitely the right decision to get some "clean air" (= Krzysztof right in front of me). Worked out fairly well in the end and after his stop Laurent was behind me again.

Was a long time off for me, so I'm glad I finally had the time to participate again. Was really fun even though last time I raced, Allan was within sight and not in space on a planet with Fulvio :roflmao:

Well, that was hour and a half of sweat, excitement and fun! Although not every lap.

I gotta watch the replay to check exaclty what happened but I got involved in a couple of incidents that, of course, affected my race. :(

I qualified in the middle after not being able to put a faster lap than my PB on practice. Not bad considering the close times and the crowded grid. My start was good and without incidents until the last chicane (the chase), where I found myself in the middle of a 3-wide, between Fulvio and Dani (was it?). We managed to get through with me ahead and Dani on my heels, unfortunately he tipped me at the last corner, reason why I spun and ended up facing the wrong way at the start-finish line. I had to wait for traffic to pass to rejoin. Dani was waiting at the first corner so we resumed our race, at the back but still in.

I had a couple of good chases, with Steve, Colin, Dani, Mika and Wayne throughout the race. That was the fun part, but keeping out of trouble was a challenge! Unfortunately, in one of those chases we came across an incident at the Dipper, which I managed to avoid firstly but got me a bad entry at the next corner, hence I hit the wall and spun. I quickly got the car pointing the right way again and was about to resume my race when I got hit from behind by 2 Mazdas battling each other. A racing incident but an unfortunate for all of us (apologies guys). I got the shorter stick there and lost those places but kept going nonetheless. A few laps later those two (can't tell for sure who) collided just before the Dipper, with one car spinning out at the wall and the other one continuing. I barely managed to avoid the spinning Mazda and could keep on. But that allowed Wayne to close in and pass me. The last laps I was at the back of a Mazda train stuck behind an Abarth, then something happened at the end of the last lap, at the chicane, and I managed to nab a place and finish where I started at the end. I had a blast losing a liter of sweat so thanks for the fun guys and to Han for the organisation. Great to have a large grid tonight. Congrats to the winners and podium finishers, looking forward to the next race... perhaps at The Glen? :D

Hola Raul!
I can't remember quite well the first incident, just that I thought I was doing a normal move in the last turn and being a bit faster in that moment. Is it possible that your last turn was a bit weird, going too wide? Anyway, as I was behind you, I felt I had to wait for you because it was very likely that the crash was mostly my fault. A shame because we both were capable of top 10 and that has destroyed everything. Sorry for that if I was at fault, I should have reacted faster

Regarding the second incident, I guess you made a mistake in the first esses, I couldn't dodge you because you were crossed in the middle of the path (a 1-car width path :roflmao:). Maybe karma acted haha but damn, in this community karma never helps me it seems :D By the way, I tried to push your car so that you could reverse and it seems it worked. At first, I thought of going reverse but Mika Hakala was approaching. I'm not sure if there were more alternatives haha We could have created a big traffic jam. Luckily, Mika Hakala could dodge the mess and overtook us both. In the next lap, I spun when I tried to overtake him in parallel, a kerb (+light touch with Mika?) unbalanced my car. I don't have the replay, but I'm sure I shouldn't have tried the move there. For a moment in my head, I thought Mika was giving me space because he would want to give back the position he gained just because of Raul's incident. My race was ruined by then, so being last and too far from what I should have been fighting I decided to quit.

No luck, bad decisions and near 0 practice. Of course, default setup (first laps of qualy with 3psi under the optimal :geek:). Definitely, I need the championships and the points to get the motivation :(
Have a nice end of week!! See you soon

Those two Mazdas who hit you in the Dipper incident were Dani and me. But, when I saw you it looked like Dani had already hit you earlier, and you both were on the left side of the track, with your car turned 90 degrees and Dani apparently trying to get through you. :geek:
I saw there was room on the right and tried to avoid you both, but then you tried to get moving again and closed the gap on the right. I had no way avoiding the hit anymore, sorry about that.
On the next lap I touched a wall which enabled Dani to get partly alongside me, but when trying to overtake me he apparently understeered(?) into the back corner of my car and spun. It was an unfortunate end to that fight.

Dani: I was not trying to give you space, if others have incidents you take the advantage. I've never had anyone given me a position back after an incident I've been in, unless they've been the faulty part in that same incident.
BUT: from the replay I noticed I was squeezing you against the wall right after I had gotten through Raul's car, I'm sorry about that. I didn't even notice I was doing that, and if I had noticed then I would have let you pass.

Ah no problem, probably I would've given you back the position* but of course I wasn't expecting you to do that. So the reason was that you had touched a wall, ok, I hadn't noticed it, that's why I had thought about the previous crash. All clear now  I wish we could have enjoyed a battle, we three had very similar paces and better than the positions where we were, I believe :/

*normally I do it only if the other driver was unlucky and immediately is very close behind me; otherwise, no. But this is too much fair play, not the best example. Too soft of me, to be honest haha

I probably would have given you the position, if I had known what had happened. I thought it was an aftermath of a battle between you and Raul, that's why I just took the advantage. I didn't know that you didn't really have anything to do with it.

SHAMELESS SELF PLUG
So you all like the MX5 and the Abarth? Next TUESDAY there will be a short event with a slightly different version of each of these cars AND also an old Ferrari 250 GTO!
The format is also a bit unusual: You'll participate in two short 20min races, and for each race you need to choose a different car. E.g. Mazda MX5 in the first race and Abarth in the second. (If you feel adventurous, choose the Ferrari for one of the races!)
One more thing: No need to do a lot of practice! Just hop into your car and have fun with the other drivers!

Here are some testimonials from a similar event last week:

"Great event [...] They were two exciting duels Ernie."
"Had a great time with this format! Highly recommend anyone that is on the fence to join!"
"Was more fun than I thought"

So come on, pull yourself together
and JOIN HERE!

Great racing everyone, really enjoyed this one!
In qually I couldn't get near to my PB so a disappointing 6th position (even with Fulvio not participating) and the knowledge that the Mazda have a better start, it didn't look good. However with some mistakes of the guys in front of me of which I was able to avoid contact I was back at 5th again at the end of lap 1 with a gap of about 3s because those incidents cost me some time. I could profit from the battle between Ernie and Simon in which they both lost time to close the gap. After some laps in which Simon and Ernie kissed the barriers I was 3rd behind Hank but then Fulvio was on my tail and passed me in the chicane after the long straight. Later I could pass Hank with the superior top speed of the Abarth and stayed 3rd until my pitstop.
I use a setup from leMans but I hadn't noticed that I didn't change tyres in that race so I was surprised that I only filled up the fuel. After that I decided to make the best of it and see if I could keep decent laptimes with worn front tyres. Ernie behind me was on the same strategy. The second stint was uneventful, I didn't have the pace to catch Allan and I managed to keep Ernie at about 7s. So finished 3rd with the win of the Abarth class and with a race in which I didn't make a big mistake which is quite an achievement for me on this track with an understeery car.

Congrats to the other podium guys, especially Hank who had great pace today. Thanks all for joining: full grids are the best!.

Next week we're going to what I think is a top three track of all of us: Spa!
The F1 is started the second part of the season there that week so I guess Brian will take the GT cars there also.
I hope Spa will be interesting again for this combination with two sectors where the Abarth can use its top speed. But can the Abarth go flat out through Eau Rouge/Radilion? We wil see!
See you on track!

Thanks for your hints about fuel calculation. To be honest I was easy going and check in content manager how many laps it would be in the race with AI, but I did not take into account that AI is slower than aliens here ;) I will be more careful next time. Regards!
I simply use the data I get from AC after I have done two laps in practice. The fuel tab in the setup menu then gives you how many laps you can do with the current setting of the amount of fuel.
I then use my formula: (raceduration in seconds divided by my PB laptime in seconds.
That gives me how many laps I will drive in the race in best case scenario.
I add 1 lap to that amount and then I adjust the fuel bar in the setup for enough fuel for that amount of laps. Last I configure the fuel and pitstop refuel values accordingly.

No problem camarada, thanks for the reply. The first one was a slight touch. I saw the replay and the kerb had a role to play by twitching my car on exit so we couldn't avoid contact at that point. It was truly a minimal touch which was a shame, damn code. But I agree that we could have both got a top-10 spot, we had the pace man. ;) The second one at the Dipper was due to a previous incident, an orange Mazda and a black Abarth collided and slowed down, blocking the bend, so I had to hit the brakes hard to avoid crashing into them... I barely managed but, like I said, I couldn't avoid hitting the wall and spinning, reason why I was perpendicular to the road. :( Thanks for trying to get me straightened up, it helped at the end but then Mika got past and couldn't avoid scratching my paint... a typical Bathurst-style racing incident so, no worries guys.

Too bad you left, but understandable. I managed to get some places back so I think you would have climbed up as well. We'll have to resume our scrap next week... luckily there are no daunting walls at Spa.
