Michael Schumacher

Don't forget Schumi had a serious neck injury. With a huge highspeed impact in the same area of his body his walking days will be over according to the specialists.

I was quite surprised he made his comeback in the first place and after seven world titles and a gazillion euros on the bank you can't blame him that he doesnt drive on 120% anymore. Sounds very logical that he is not willing to take the risks anymore.

Still I think its good to have him on the grid. Its a magnet for F1.

Will he continue racing elsewhere when he retires? DTM maybe?

I don't neccesarily have anything against Michael, I just think he was in a very fortunate position in his first career.
I just think there's a reason why he's classed as the most successful driver, but never the best racing driver.

The best racing drivers can get there team to work in harmony with there driving style, Schumacher's performance was a team effort and always was, however no driver could match him when it come to that, so in essence he can still be classed as the best, he didn't have the raw pace as senna though, but was more in line with Prost but better with working with a team and last i checked even Prost was able to match Senna when it came to mounting a championship challenge and really isn't that what the best drivers are ment to do?

Rather then look fast, producing results is still number 1.

I guess I just lose respect for drivers and teams that have no respect for their number 2 drivers.
I know Schumacher is/was a great driver and a worthy champion, but he'll always have a question mark above his head in my mind.

To be honest, I don't really care how many championships he won... All I remember is the countless times he tried (or did) run someone off the road, blocked, or whatever... In my mind, he was a dirty driver but now that he is No.2, he figured out that he can't do this anymore I guess... Well, he still tried to push Barrichello in the pit wall so...

That's the difference... Yes, he won championships, but too many time he acted like a ***** on track and his team was licking his butt doing everything to make HIM win and not his teammate, even if Rubens was first, and Shumi liked it...

The point Luke was making though is that Senna was equal or possibly worse in the 'clean driving' respect. Because he's dead though no one makes a big deal out of it.

Pretty much, I don't think Schumacher has done anything even as close to as bad as what Senna did to Prost at T1 at the start, in the 1990 Japanese GP.

He even admitted it was done on purpose.

I think it was slightly less of a big deal back in the day.
My F1 history isn't amazing but I would say Senna was more of a victim of F1 politics than Schumacher and Prost.
The latter 2 seemed to be somewhat protected by F1 politics.

I'm not a Senna fan by any means... It's moves like that that makes me dislike a driver...

They should take example on Stirling Moss...

"Moss believed the manner in which the battle was fought was as important as the outcome. This sporting attitude cost him the 1958 Formula 1 World Championship. When rival Mike Hawthorn was threatened with a penalty in the Boavista Urban Circuit in Porto, Portugal, Moss defended Hawthorn's actions to race stewards contemplating a penalty to Hawthorn. Hawthorn was accused of reversing in the track after spinning and stalling his car on an uphill section of the track. Moss himself shouted the suggestion to Hawthorn that he steer downhill, against traffic, to bump-start the car, which Hawthorn did. Moss's quick thinking and then gracious defence of Hawthorn before the stewards saw Hawthorn's 6 points for his second-place finish (behind Moss) preserved. Hawthorn went on to beat Moss for the title by one point, even though he won only one race that year to Moss's four, making Hawthorn Britain's first World Champion."

There, happy ?

Sure he did. What he did to Rubens Barrichello at the 2010 Hungarian Grand Prix was inexcusable. That does not mean what Senna did to Prost was right. That too was inexcusable. Both Senna and Schumacher were pretty ruthless with how they approached racing. Actually I think Senna wrote the book on "Winning at any cost", but Schumacher definitely emulated Senna's work.

Michael Schumacher has poured cold water over rumours that he might re-retire from Formula 1 at the end of the current season.
At a Mercedes-Benz event, Magic Moments in Stuttgart, Schumacher reassured the board that he would take up his third-year-option on his contract and would remain with Mercedes in 2012.

"I'll certainly be racing next year, that is definite," said the 42-year-old, but he added it was still too early to say whether he would continue past 2012. "We will have to see how things develop and how much energy and fun is still there."

On the subject of next year and Mercedes' potential, Schumacher ruled out fighting for the title, saying the team needs more time.
"It would be presumptuous if one expects us to fight for the title next year, at the moment we are too far behind," said Schumacher.

Thomas Weber, Mercedes Head of Group Research agreed with the seven-time champion.
"We need a little longer to get to the top, but time is necessary. And we on the board will give that time."
