AC LMP1/GTE @ Mugello - Sunday 26th February 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
is anyone else having trouble joining server? every time i try, it says it's down / offline, or when i attempt to join it crashes me back out...

Brian can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's now set up for the quali sessions? There should be another 1hr Quali session in 2hrs I think.

Otherwise, I'm having the same issue not seeing the practice server.

Ahhh, got it... I'll keep an eye on those sessions...

BTW, I've been trying out your setup (modified) from Daytona for the c7 here. Don't know if I thanked you before but thanks again just in case for sharing that. Gotta say, so far, that c7 is pretty sweet and stable to drive, although I'm not pulling down lap times like yours! But I'll keep at it.

Yeah, I went to practice earlier and realized we were now into quali times. Looks like we'll still have the normal practice and quali session pre race tomorrow. Don't think that will be the case with the longer races in the championship though.

Glad it's working for you! Once you find some setup options that suit your driving style and learn to work with the rear swinging around on throttle, you can really start to push it, even over kerbs.

Brian, I've signed up on acsm with the Toyota. I obviously already have an acsm account that Han setup for me. Do you/I need to do anything else for me to take part in the 1 hour quali sessions (starting in 23 mins if I've understood the schedule properly)?

Huh? Are those qualifying sessions valid for tonight? When is the next one?
Laurent, my limited understanding is that there are five opportunities to qualify for the race tonight including the usual 20 min quali session (split 10 and 10 for the two classes) immediately before the race as usual. In addition to that you can take part in as many extra one hour quali sessions as you wish. The last of which is a 2pm-3pm GMT this afternoon.

Thanks Richard!

Wasn't paying attention.. I can't make the afternoon session, so 10 mins it is then, not much but oh well..

Brian do you agree ?

LMP1 :-
we the GT2 class will be always on the racing line. So you know exactly where we are to going to be.
When we exit a corner that is the side we will Stay on.
If it is a very short straight we will use the racing line to cross over.
Try and not dart in front then out brake us, we will not be able to miss not hitting you up the rear.

It is going to be very frustrating for you, we will be overtaken every 6 laps or so.

:)

this sounds very sensible to me. since those cars have much more power and grip they can overtake us very quickly almost anywhere, i think it would create more confusion and potential for incidents if we try to move out of the way.

during practice yesterday i noticed those lmp1 cars flying up on us lighting fast and it was a bit hairy trying to figure out the best way to let them pass.

oh, and please don't flash your lights at us, we can see you coming up. between car radar app, track map app showing position of cars, and crew chief i think everyone should be aware of what's happening out there.

That all sounds reasonable.
The new limit rule, that the LMPs must get fully alongside before the apex, should support all that.

As for any single class overtake it is still required that this fully alongside happens without a divebomb. The LMP has to make the corner apex cleanly. Also for tight chicanes, like these here at mugello, it's not enough to just send it, clip the first apex and be all in a mess trying to make the second one. Parking in the middle of the track, or going across the grass, would still indicate carrying too much speed to reach the first apex, first.

I typically only flash if I'm gonna put it alongside in a braking zone, just as a heads up.
(and speaking with 7 years of multiclass endurance experience at a high level, definitely not everyone will always see the faster class coming)

Thank you all for the race! It was my first multi class race ever and it was more exciting than I anticipated! I hope it was mostly clean driving on my side, but as I am learning - if you have any insights for me what could've been done better, tell me please. Also, I only crashed once today, and that's a big win for me :D
