Is VR dead?

Well all the rumor mill "Copium Addicts" are going to have a meltdown now.

Oh well! Now Valve will just have to surprise us out of no where, now. Looks like this boosted Meta's attendance though, so Meta wins by default.

Back to looking forward to getting my Bigscreen Beyond.

I like the idea that the headset may grow on me past the initial out of the box experience.

I'd imagine it's the hardest hmd to jump back into 'normal' ones after even if those do certain things better it's all a moot point if it's uncomfortable or bothersome in any way and so far only Bigscreen has made any significant moves to address this, without compromising on visuals either. My worry is even Valve's new hmd isn't gonna check off all the boxes for me but enough that I'll want it as well as Beyond and now that I know Q3 is 110fov that sounds quite attractive too but I can't afford all these hmd and even if I could it becomes a shell game of tradeoffs that might leave me perpetually longing >_>

But as of now BSB remains the most intriguing device to hit the market and continues to be the only hmd that I'm obsessed with. Looking forward to first hand reviews from RC and anyone else that gets one

LOL, no. But I bet my paycheck more people are excited about it than if it were Index 2 announcement.
What's "LOL" about his question?

It's a normal and even expected question from him of course, I was wondering exactly the same since you're posting this in the " Is VR dead? " thread on a race sim/game website. Why? It has nothing to do with both subjects.

Who cares that more people are excited about an FPS game then a VR headset? What's the point? Why are you "betting your paycheck" on that? What are you trying to prove here? Just to push your usual idea; LOLOLOLOLVRisreallydeadnow, ahem. You've said that already a thousand times here in every possible way; everone knows your opinion already here. I don't get your motivations behind it. Why would you bet your paycheck on something like that, nobody wants to bet with you on something that's obvious. Weird.

If you followed the previous posts, the world apparently held its breath for Valve's announcement and this is the "announcement" that came out.
Relax, geez, why so insecure and sensitive?

Uh, I was just making the obvious joke....Its meant to be laughed at

Anyhow, Haven't played Counterstrike in over a decade so tonight's the night I spend 8 minutes playing it again, get destroyed and mocked by a 12 year old, and then uninstall it.
I didn't follow the discussion clearly. I just jumped in the discussion quite brainless because of Andrew's usual comment.

Exactly the same happened here. Also uninstalled it after getting killed quickly lol, CS is not for me.

If you are in some kind of shooters, Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update is actually quite good, replaying campaign now, much better gunplay than before and graphics is awesome. And Phantom Liberty DLC with Idris Elba seems to be a success, great reviews all around, will jump onto it once finished with main story.
Bethesda's Starfield left me quite disappointed, pretty weak for 10 or whatever years in development.
Busy month is coming with Forza Motorsport 2023 and Codemasters WRC release.

Little taste of Phantom Liberty

So guys what do you think about Meta Q3 for sim racing?
It seems to have the best lenses out there.
Good resolution
110 FOV
Big sweet spot
Seems very light and comfortable
Tye best inside outside tracking for motion cockpit’s
Possible 120fps too.

If they are still using a USB cable to stream to the Q3 then it will likely all be compressed to hell, so in that regard I'd be waiting to see what the reviews are like.

Specwise its better then my Reverb G2......and I believe heavier then the Q2

It's about ~10g heavier, but it is also more compact bringing the weight closer to your face, so the momentum as you move your head around will be a bit less.

The bigger deal is that it now does use separate lenses for each eye, and it can adjust for IPD's out to 75mm.

I believe it uses the display pixels it has more effectively and with 25ppd and a wider and taller FOV than the G2 it should be a reasonable headset for people who don't want to break the bank.

If it's any good for simracing i could see myself trying one until the Index 2 release.

It's 90 fps with (experimental) 120fps. The FOV is supposed to better than the Aero and about the same as the Crystal. At 25ppd that's better than the G2.

If that increased processing manages to handle decompression over the USB-C connection better, it might look pretty good. The Q2 could run for up to 6 hours on a charge while plugged in by USB-C. The Q3 is supposed to double it's operation time with the Elite strap. I assume it has a second battery in it.

FWIW, he has said that transitioning back feels weird at first, but then he gets acclimated again to the extra weight. That said, my Aero feels heavy to me and bothers me in Rally and room scale and I've had it since February. On the track or in flight, it's fine.

I'd love to give you my experiences with the BSB, but they are working out production issues, and I doubt I'll see mine until at least mid October.
