Wich series, Stefan??? I was testing the Solstice earlier, but I didn't do any quali, because I couldn't race tonight anyway... :)

I'm still learning to drive there... I managed to do 1:06:2 in Lime Rock full course, bu tI saw the goooood lap times are in 1:03... Man, oh, man... So much to learn... :)

Solstice is all about momentum - work on your lines and try to carry as much speed as you can through the corners, don't worry about braking early - just keep the speed up. Also, don't get bored and drift it on every corner...

Practice a bit and once you can do lap after lap without making any errors then enter some races and get your safety rating up. In your rookie season you are best off getting your safety rating up as high as you can to help give you a bit of a boost once into class d.

In the Solstice Rookie Series. Did a another race right after that win and got taken out by the same person I was fighting with in the first race. Oh well.

I really dislike Limerock. I have only done a best of 1:06.1 there. My race pace is usually in the 1:06.5-1:07.5 range. The Solstice seems to either be under steering or over steering 90% of the time around there. I can't wait for the switch to Laguna tomorrow (Tuesday). I am much better around Laguna.

I did notice a lot of people that aren't rookies are racing in the rookie series.

Yeah, they seem to be pretty understanding about changing the name, When I signed up someone was already using my name, so I was David Barry2, but I contacted them and they quickly changed my first name to Dave so I didn't have the 2 tacked on the end. Anyone here racing Skip Barbers this season? This is my first season of iracing(started during week 13, so a few solstice races got me a quick license promotion.) and I started with the SRF, which is a lot of fun, but I had trouble developing consistency with it. However I had my first race in the skip barber last night and it was awesome, Started last and finished 3rd at Limerock thanks to some crashes and spinouts. What amazed me though is that I ran a nearly incident free race(which I have trouble doing in the SRF), and had a lot of fun and a few good battles at the same time. On the last lap at the second to last corner someone had spun out right in the line and I went off the track and lost control, but thankfully I avoided the walls and no one was behind me. I hate it when that happens, but at the same time it's such a good feeling when you barely dodge that car in the road and keep things stable and keep yourself on the road.

When you make the account you have to enter the account username, you can put in something different to the credit card. I'm running with my name on my dads card.

Nice to hear they have that option now, in the past it was not there. As mentioned before you can request it to be changed as I had a friend who changed his by mailing them. It did take a couple of weeks for them to sort it tho.

Dilemma,

I see meself playing iRacing in the future alot(emphasis on future). My free sub will run out very soon and was wondering wether there is an option to leave my account on dormant state. Until hopefully that time in the future where I can commit to iRacing.

Yup, check that in your My Account (Everyone on the free accounts should check this), Go To Cancel/Renew Membership and check that the Current Account Status is set to Don't Renew otherwise you will automatically be charged the next subscription.

When it expires you'll have no access to the member site but you can pay up again and just pick up where you left off.

Simon it shows as: Current Account Status: Active

Dont know where to go to turn it to Don't renew.

Edited..

Simon I also see this part:

Your account is currently 'Active' and your subscription currently runs until 2009-06-03. If you do nothing you will be able to access the member site until 2009-06-03 at which point your account will be disabled.

Should I relax?

As awesome as this game is, I'm not interested in open wheelers or oval cars much which leaves not many cars on the game. Hardly anyone ever racing either. Hopefully we'll see laser scanned tracks and such in future sims though :D

you're right.. I was worried about the same thing when I signed up for the trial, but so far, I have been pretty happy racing the same car on the same track over and over again.

I can't explain exactly why, but on most other sims I would get bored of a car/track after a couple hours. On iRacing, probably because you're always practicing or racing with real people, it is always fun, there is always a corner you could do better and I can't stop trying!

They're bringing at least 5 new road racing cars to the game this year, though. GT1 Corvette, GT2 Ford, a ~300 hp Mustang, VW Jetta TDI (FWD) and the Lotus 79 historical F1 car.

The complaints about no one racing seem a bit odd. Especially if you're below B license level and race either during European or US prime time +- a few hours, there should be no problem at all finding a race.
