Qualifying has the advantage that you might start up in front instead from inbetween of the field. There will be always people that will wreck you, whether intentionally or unintentionally. You can´t do anything about it unless suffient complaints are beeing made on their forums. Maybe it´s hard to see who the wrecker was but with the F3 screen it should be possible to find out.

But with somewhat reduced rating loss if you get hit by someone else would be easier to accept, I believe. It is really annoying that what Ramon states.

The SR does need to be toned down a small bit. Almost back above 4.00 for me now, I would already had someone pushing way too hard hadn't spun back on track been more sensible about their driving.
All the wreckers in iRacing are overdriving, most of my incidents are solo because I ride curbs and then get caught by the grass or lose the rear of the skippy.

edit: Post 1000 :D

Personaly ive never been wrecked intentionally. Although ive had my fair share of wrecks with people trying to dive bomb corners and just generally trying to pass where its not safe. But thats racing its no different in any other sim other than the fact you now get penalised for it. People doing this all the time will have problems keeping a safety rating high enough to progress and given time if you are a safe clean driver you should end up racing other drivers of the same callibre.

To be honest most of my Safety rating hits come from me pushing to hard and spinning or going of track. Guess what that is nobody's fault but mine I need to learn to drive better basically and the safety rating is helping me do that.

So I like the SR. To keep it high i have to drive better and avoid off track incidents and other ppls wrecks.

The no blame system may seem harsh but it would be pretty much impossibe to apportion blame fairly all the time in my opinion, unless there was a human watching every race.

I must say the the SF system has grown on me. First, in the beginning week I had some major doubts as the system has a "no blame" penalty. In the Rookie Solstice races I was hit from behind and taken out two or three times, in all of the instances the "wrecker" clearly didn't use his brakes.

But, as soon as I could I entered the Advanced Solstice Series and then advanced to the Skip Barber after another two races. In both of these series the driving is much better. The past Skip Barber races has been a blast, many of my competitors have been a class C or class D driver. I just finished a race in which I had close racing with several drivers. They all had good awareness and there were no contact what so ever for the entire race :)

The only problem that's still persistent is the odd fellow rookie who hasn't understood the concept of the "F3" screen. Some rookie drivers would also benefit from using their rear view mirror and be more aware of other cars in near proximity.

But, as I've already said: the competition and the level of the drivers are like "night and day" in the Skip Barber series compared to the Rookie Solstice series.

So, my recommendation is to hang in there. Drive safe and get a SF of 4.0 then join the Skip Barber and never look back...

Does anyone have an invitation they arent using?

I am a big sim-racer fan, but obviously not big enough since I didnt find out about this game until a few days ago! If anyone would be kind enough to shoot me an email if they have an extra invite, so I can try this game out, that would be GREAT!!! ChrisC6Z06@gmail.com Thanks!

Lol, this topic is bumped from dust :)
Last time I drove in iRacing is now 5/6 weeks ago. I will end my subscription again. Don't like the only the lonely driving without a team/community around.
Also I have already paid 3 months, 2 cars and 1 track and still RACE 07/rFactor gives me more pleasure.

Who knows in a year if iRacing understand that you need more features and a community feeling and not only a laserscanned car/track + slightly advanced physics.
My 2cents.

This is something I fully agree on. If there were one thing I could change in iRacing is the community / private series. :amen:

Even though the pick-up race format has it's advantages, I do get the feeling of loneliness every now and then. How good for me that the Race Department is still around and evolving :D

Kind regards,
Karl

I'm just getting started and I know the feeling of being on the track by yourself running laps. It feels kind of isolated... There are some things I like about iRacing, but not sure this is one of them. There may be enough good things about iRacing though that Karl is right when he says to ride it out, and move up and on. Guess it's time to work on my SR and brave the rookies...:)
