My Small and uninteresting Intro

A Good evening to one and all. Here is my little post about myself and others around me.

Well my name is Shaun Clarke, and live in the heart of Norfolk in England. Yes we have broadband down here, and we all don't drive tractors or grow peas. I am 32yrs old, and am currently working towards IT Manager for EMGMotorgroup.

I have 6 ( not all mine I must add ) children who I love dearly. I am into Football ( Come on you Spurs ) and love spending time with Family. I have a Wii ( who doesn't? ) and enjoy playing Mario Kart online.

Started Sim racing about 6 yrs ago in the early development of LFS way way before S1 was released. Had loads of fun over at that camp, learning to make Movies ( various ones online on youtube ) and having a ball. Used to drive for what was the top LFS team Boomerang Rapido, before going alone to create my own with fellow LFS driver EMD. ************* was born in 2004, and still going strong. I left as I didn't have the time to dirve competivatly online, and was also going through divorce, so was never in front of computer. I help create CRC ( Clean Racers Club ) for LFS. Like here, it was a secure place to have a good clean race, with people donating servers to help out for the people that joined. With S1 release, the need for this stopped, until S2demo came out, then we started is again. With S2 came the possibility of ESL. ESL was hugh in Germany, but I wanted the UK to benefit as well, so we have a successful 3yrs of running leagues with ESL. I organised prizes donated by Logitech etc etc for the winners.

Found GTR and GTR2, but never really got on with them, as I am more of a grass roots sim racer, love touring cars, wtcc, cars like that. Found Race 06, and it killed my PC, major dissapointed. Race 07, and it ran no problems, so here I am.

Fordman - Nickname, where did it come from? Well my dad used to be mechanic for BTCC Mondeo in the early days, then I started working for EMG Ford as it was then, and also loved the Ford Mondeo ST220, so thought Fordman was a good enough name for me.

Anyway, enough of the speal, and thank you to anybody that actually got this far in reading

See you on the Grey Stuff

Fordie

Hi all,

Coming from the rF scene with my league :
Gentlemen Racers

We race almost only rF and we are testers for F3 Euro 2007, GP2 2006 (soon to come), PCC Carrera Cup France and Endurance series by Enduracers.
due to lack of time I race a little less this last year but we have regular champ' organised with either sprint or Endurance series on private mods . it's for members only, except a F3 Euro champ' which is open to anyone (We do not tolerate idiots).

I pre ordered ARCA and had to wait almost 7 weeks to get it.
Im now running this game almost everyday and I've apllied for a driving license for this game only.

Im living between africa and France with either a 256 or a 20 MB bandwith lol
Main goal for me is to have nice races and to avoid non respectful drivers. Im having "fun" when a race ends with no wreck, even if I raced alone for 2 hours. Im not having fun by doing silly things on a server.

I hope to race with some of you soon ...

Aloko.

  • Jani Kuhno

Hello all.

I'm Jani and I'm 18 years old from Finland (live in Tampere for those who know where that city is). Currently I'm a high school student. Apart from playing GTR2 and Race07 I also like all kinds of RPG's like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. I'm also looking forward to the new MMORPG Age of Conan that is due to release in three weeks. I also listen to music and some bands that I like are Led Zeppelin, Megadeth and a finnish band called Kotiteollisuus (don't think anyone expect the finns in these forums have heard of them).

I think my first racing sim was Grand Prix 2 (Grand Prix 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) but I was 6 years old at the time that was released so mainly in the game I just crashed around with the car :D. Although later I started to actually complete laps in the game and even win races.
Next racing sim I tried was the Grand Prix 3 but didn't really like that one and basicly thats where my sim racing stopped for a long time.
In 2006 I finally bought GTR2 after my friend had told me how awesome it was. At first I didn't really play it (World of Warcraft I damn you...) but around May of 2007 I thought to myself that I had to atleast complete a race in simulation mode on that game. I took my dusty old Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeedback Wheel and well... the whole summer I just basicly played and played GTR2.
In October I immediately bought Race 07 when it was released but I only started to really play it in January 2008 because I was so hooked on playing GTR2. Eventually I also bought GT Legends but didn't really like that as much as GTR2 or Race 07.

Well I think thats all.

Cya in the race tracks,
Jani

Hey guys, I'm Nick from the US! Currently live in Los Angeles, and im currently pursuing a professional career in motorsports :)

Hey Nick! Good to see you're still racing. Looks like there will be 2 guys at least from LaLa Land :)

Hey guys. My name is Barry Blocker and yes, it is in fact my real name. Imagine all of the remarks I get the first time I visit a new server, lol. I'm 40 and have 3 children. I live in the Los Angeles area and ride skateboards with my kids when I'm not in the sim seat. I've been sim racing online since 2001 and love being a part of this great community. I founded theMNRL to provide a place for my work mates and I to race each other in the beginning. It blossomed and it is still going strong to this day. I race with them on Wednesday nights.

I'm a Champcar guys at heart, so I was happy when I got involved in making Champcar/CART mods for F12001-rFactor. They are my passion, but it's fun to take a break and drive Touring cars.

I was in the FD series at RSC and found everyone back here from the RPM site. Great to see everything is going so well.

Nice being here and I hope to see you on the track soon.

  • tamas sipos

hi,

my name is Tamás Sipos. i am 25 years old and live in Hungary with my girlfriend. my job is to keep mid-range unix (aix) systems alive and to maintain the tight security standards.

i've been playing and loving race sims since i played the first time with f1gp. since than i have encountered countless 'racing' games, but the milestones of my career were f1gp2, cmr2, toca race driver, f1challenge, richard burns rally, gtr and race07.

after some online rounds with race07 (and lots of broken suspensions after the first corner
icon1.gif
), i have started to search for a community which provides me fair and enjoyable races ..and i hope i have finally found it..

i have only a little experience in online racing, but i'm not a considering myself as a beginner. i know i have lot to learn, especially setting up the car properly. i'm working on the issue, but i have not much time to dig myself in. (my car in race07 is the bmw e90)

and about my pc: mainly i am a debian user, but this game make vindoz worth booting up.. btw, i have a rather low-end machine for this game, but with nearly minimum settings (and without the AI) it provides me smooth playing.

and finally.. i'm looking forward to meet you all on the grid

cheers

Hi
I am Daniel Juncadella
I am from Spain and i race in real life at the formula bmw euroseries.
I have race 07 since last year and i likely play online.
I am already a member of the racedept.com league.
And know i am joining FD Series.

Anyway i am still fast (at least it's what i think ;) )

See you all on track and HF

Hi everybody. My name is Raino Priha. I'm 26 years old and from Finland. I've been sim racing for about 15 years (5 years online). I try to keep my racing as clean as possible, but a little bit of friendly paint swapping here and there is of course part of a normal race.

  • Edward Leake

Hey guys, I'm Ed from England (UK), I'm 25 years of age and I'm pretty average when it comes to online racing - however in the real world I drive for Arrivalracing in a S2000/WTCC spec Honda Accord. :)

  • Francisca Roele

Hi gang,
My name is Francisca Roele, and friends call me Fran. I'm born in the Netherlands from a Dutch mother and an Indonesian father. I'm currently temporarily disabled (6 years now) due to a persistent post traumatic stress syndrom, so I have my ups and downs - and generally can't deal with stress (and life) well. I've a great support in my current boyfriend whom I know for over 15 years now, and we can enjoy many online games together but racing is unfortunately not one of them. He says he lacks the hand-eye coordination required, but every now and then he humors me with a few laps.

I've been racing since Gammond's grand prix, and loved to race the tracks that the real F1 drivers were going to race on the weekend. I stopped really following it about a year or two ago. Before that I had a period that I didnt want to watch F1 anymore due to Ayrton Senna's death. I think that was a dark day for many race fans over the world.

In the period 98-2000 I went to the US, and stayed in various places in Colorado (Commerce City, Aurora and Denver) and discovered NASCAR. When I came back in the Netherlands I wanted to follow/race it but my cable company didn't have the proper channel (espn/nasn/etc). I also couldn't get my hands on the race game I wanted (living in a small town has it's disadvantages), so I had to make due with a demo of Nascar. Fortunately for me I made a friend online who helped me learn the game and bought me the papyrus nascar boxed set (nascar, trucks and legends). From then on I bought every Papy game that came out, sometimes imported since it wasn't available here (again).

I played some race games on the PS1 but it wasn't none too great. Later I got a PS2 but the racing wasn't like I was used to. My boyfriend got a xbox 360 which included Forza 2, which helped me with my race fix off and on. Then for my birthday early this year he got me Nascar 08, also for the xbox 360. I actually enjoy the game and I seem to be one of the few that do. It's a bit of a hassle setting up the wheel for the xbox and because I don't really have a good setup for it. I don't see myself racing a full race that way anyway.

So for my stock car racing I've ordered ASCAR, and for touring cars I have Race 07. I tried GTR but I didn't quite like it. I might try GT Legends, but mostly because I also have GP Legends and NASCAR Legends :D Oh and I heard GT Legends as MINI's!

Besides all that I also enjoy games as World of Warcraft, City of Heroes/Villains (Villains I find more fun), Hellgate. On the Xbox that's Mass Effect, Nascar 08 and Splinter Cells Double Agent (because it wouldn't work well on my pc I bought the 360 version).

I also like to write short stories and draw, been drawing before I could write I guess. I use Painter on the pc and mess a bit in 3D with Poser/Carrara and Hexagon.

If I'm not attempt to be creative I like to visit the theatre (not just the movies, but for live performances), museums, or taking walks along the beach/dunes/dykes in my hometown.

Hi Fran (can we call you that?), nice introduction and great to have you join us. Hope you have lots of fun.

I too have a very slight disability, it's called old age (actually here it is almost ancient), but everyone is very helpful and friendly. :bear_original:

Yes GTL has everyting from little Mini's and Abarths, up to hugely powerful beasts like GT40, Corvette, Cobra's. It's a lot of fun and still worth the purchase.

See you on track soon and look forward to some of your creativity. :thumb:
