GTR 2

ok, "battlereport" after i have cooled down a bit :)

good quali, made 3rd spot and kept that on start of the race. took early laps
very easy, had 100l fuel and knowing how tough this track is for front tyres for me,
i just followed Tom and James.
around 30mins or so found that i was faster than both of them, infact i think James's
tyres might been gone allready, his laptimes very suddenly so much slower and after
couple rounds overtook him and started my pursuit for the 1st position.
time difference was going slowly but steadily to my advantage when some1 appeared
on my rear windows. drove couple laps and decided to make an early stop.
thinked its ok since tyres were still fine so i could easily drive longer second stint +
car is not so heavy anymore so that saves tyres too + with new tyres would have
been allmost 2 secs faster per lap so 2 clean laps and pit strategy would have taken
me past Tom easily.
i press the pitin button, get confirmation, get to my pitbox and nothing happens.
stupid pitmen just standthere. so there goes the race and i press esc.

Toni my tires were gone >.< i was like wth they didnt do that before put on hards after stop and i had so much grip started putting in high 1.24s and low 1.25s for rest of race till i blew up >.> and i started passing people in pits including Tom

I had 'quite' a good one as well. I think I was 5th on the grid afer qually, which was about where I wa after PQ, so everything went according to plan that far... though it was quite a struggle to put together that lap after all.

I started off well. I sat behind Ramon untill he went wide and offered me teh oppertunity to overtake. So, fourth I was, chasing the guys up front. At first I closed in on Toni and the two leaders battling early on, but eventually I ahd to let them go in order not to push it too much.

It proved that I had actually pushed too much when I made a couple of mistakes. I went off-track as I was trying to keep Gregory behind and then spun when I thought I had it going again. I recovered and tried to close in on the guys that had waved a fiendly "thank you" and had taken my place up front. Shortly after I lost it again and I was starting to think I had thrown it away. I was around tenth place by then and the chances for the podium that ahd seemed so close, now vanished on the horizon.

I kept it going and made a pit stop near the halfway point. All went smooth and to my surpise I came back very close behind Tom, who had been leagues ahead of me after my spins. Hopes grew and I started chasing him to see where I would end up. After all, chasing the guy that was in the top 3 would logically bring me close to the poduim... or so I hoped...

I wasn't that wrong, it appeared, for lap after lap I would overtake people who made their pitstop and I was quick enough to catch a few guys on speed as well. Then two guys blew their engine and, as I was making my way forward, I suddenly found myself in P3. P3... that's a podium! So, now I just had to keep it cool and finish. I tried and it went well! Until Ramon showed up...

Appearently I had lost speed towards the end of the race and my tires were wearing down quickly now. Much quicker than Ramon's, so I seemed. Or maybe he just had better control.

Anyway, he was closing in and he was closing in fast. With about ten minutes ago he was seriously knocking on my door and I had to call on all reserves to get that podium. Boy, did I want it badly! I was though. I had never, ever, managed to keep the door closed to someone for that long, let alone to someone who was singificantly faster than I was at that moment. Ramon was quicker out of nearly every corner and all I could do was take the defensive line, over and over again, and hoep he's not get around me in the corner.

I was managing. Or, no, actually I wasn't managing: I was all over Dubai. But it kept Ramon behind me, and that's what counts. It took me a lot of slam-the-door-shut actions and it even got to an incident at some point, but Ramon was sportive enough to return the position and continue the fight on the borders of the accpetable. Me touching that border more often that he did. My compliments to Ramon. Great fight bud!

And there it was: the finish line. Finally! That last ten minutes had seemed like a whole eternity, but it was finally over. And I got to take the booty.

Me happy :D

Thanks for the race guys. I enjoyed it, of course! :thumb:

Hey Winston,

a good soft setup works here for the BMW, a little bit higher then normal and make sure you know the track, you can win alot of time in the first sector if you know how and when to steer (since mostly the corners are a bit blind)

my PB: 1.30.7

good luck!

Hi Roy, thanks for the tips, im currently going round at a 1:39 on the default setup.
With no internet at home im back using the work internet to post!

Soft setup, could you explain that please? And abit higher, ride height i presume.
I have noticed that there are some corners that need no brakes at all!

Would you mind posting your setup up as a base for me please?
Sorry!!
