GTR 2

  • Robert Schon

Hello boys
I am excited. My first long race. I am satisfied but I saw "end flag". Thanks Hansi on behalf of help.

Qual: 8th Finish: 7th

Glad to be back on a dry track, kept with those ahead in the very early stages, but eventually got dropped off and had a nice battle with a couple of guys closing in on me,pace dropped off a bit early for my liking on a no stop strategy with hard tyres all round, the latter stages were just staying on the track and losing places,i was glad when it was over and the tyres made it to the end.

Grats to podium guys and as always thanks to the RD organisers :thumb:.

I had a decent qualify. 11th while my teammate Mark made it to twelfth.
Start was ok, and I could keep up but was soon overtaken by a few people, including Mark. I saw him battling in front of me, and suddenly saw him off the track, think he was nudged off. I suddenly noticed people doing pitstop and slowly but surely gained some positions. I even got 2nd with a gap of about 18 seconds to first. Eventually was overtaken again, so went 3rd, but the guy who just overtook me suddenly had left a nice smoketrail behind him, so I was guessing, not to try to re-overtake him, and just waited for him to get real slow, and get passed easily. Suddenly I saw a black smoketrail. In my rearview mirror this time...Dammnit 17 minutes before end, on 3rd position again....engine overheated. I talked to Ramon about the HUD on screen. I seem to have set off my engine health meter, so I didn't get any notice of the fact that my engine was goin to blow soon.
Anybody got an idea, where in the game to switch on that vital piece of information???

I enjoyed the race, especially the battle between Ramon and Yoeri...very exciting :)
See you next race, and for those who didn't know yet, it going to be a night race :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
Think I'm gonna need a co-driver to assist me :rally_drive:

Cheers !

Congratulations to the win Roy, You had an awesome pace on your only set of tyres, Very impressing

I had an very bad qualify, could just not get a decent lap done.
So 14th on the grid was it,
After start had gone, was it only one thing to do, try be aggresive and overtake as many as possible, easier to say, then do it for real, It is an hard track to find good overtakings, so I had some very good battles at the beginning stages,
Then I got stuck behind Gary, Could just not find a way to pass him,(good drive there Gary) So i went into pit and changed tyres.
Seems I gained a lot with an early tyre stop, Could pass Gary easy when I catched him upat the ending stages, Some guys blew there engines and suddenly was I 2nd.
Much better then I expected,
My radiator was at 1. Revs at maximum, lost 2% of engine during the race, so no problems with overheating

I’m very disappointed that I couldn’t start the race.
At the moment that server switched to next session from the warm-up I lost connection.
I qualified on the 11 place and that’s not bad for me.
I did about 800 practice laps for this race.
Somebody told me that I had lag before that my car freezes.
Also I experienced that the server was synchronizing from time to time.
What can I do to prevent this happening.

WOW! What a race. The fighting I had all race is worthy for a good video :)

Started 4th on the grid, a bit surprised; but also not. Did my pre-qual with only 3 hotlaps. The rest was outlaps and race setup testing. :)

For some reason I cannot push the car to the limit in the first 2 laps (cold tires/brakes) and others can, or they take too much risk lol.

The beginning of the race was a long fight for defending the position. I think I dropped back to 7th place when I finally was in a good rhythm. The guys in front of me pitted and I was hoping to do a non-stop race on medium tires.

At one point everyone in front of me pitted/crashed/blowup/etc; I was leading and Roy was closing in fast. His setup was much better from the last corner till T1-T4. Then my setup was good enough to increase some tenths again.
After making a mistake in the last turn it was an easy pass in the end for Roy. Some laps later I received a tire worn message for my left front tire. Had to do a pitstop to avoid a plat tire. The fighting in the beginning was probably too much for my tires.
Only changed tires (to soft) and was back on track in a disappointing 9th position.

But at that moment 2-3 seconds each lap faster. The guys in front were no match against my new born tires. Could reasonably climb the ladder again up to 4th position. Around 10 mins before end, we had a very nice and fair touringcar style battle till finish. I think I was still a second faster but Youri defended his position good enough to stay in front.
Had a few possibilities to pass, but I did not want to force him on the grass directly after therefor he could fight back. I like it to be fair ;)
In the double chicane or how its called, he was at a time struggling for grip and lost his speed completely. Could not avoid him and tapped him around.
Of course waited for him to recover and we continued the fight till the finish.

Great battle Yoeri, it was a pleassure to be part of it. Finished 4th, better then expected.

Lost muchos engine health btw due to the big fights. Then you have to rev it very high at some points which will damage the engine a bit. Started with 97% and ended with 85%. Radiator on 1; but still on qualify max revs :)

Thanks everyone for racing; enjoyed it!

Congrats to all who finished, and well done the top 3 guys. :party0018:
Myself i had an OK start, i started with hard front tyres so was very happy to be able to hang on to the pack in front of me while opening a gap to those behind right up to around lap 20odd then i lost concentration and made some small mistakes :sign0007:.
I knew i needed to save my tyres so did not push too hard and just tried to keep a steady lap time but i still managed to get 2 tyre warnings before the race finished and i think my front left was up around 45 when i crossed the line.
I also had my rad at 1 and i think i only lost 2% and i know one of them was when i was half asleep and changed down one gear too much :sign0161:but going by the way some of u guys downshift i ain't surprised to see some engines blow, just as well we are not using time scaled damage as there would be some short stints with it switched on :dd:
As this track is so hard to pass on i had hoped to help my team mate more by fighting for position better and holding up those trying to case him down but by that time i had no tyres left to fight with and was easy meat for anyone that wanted to pass.

So i enjoyed the race fine apart from my last lap on the second last corner when i got thumped from behind and spun by someone who being 3 laps down his race had finished so i have no idea wtf he was trying to do.:censored2:

FO 1/2 Nice race again guys, top drive Roy, Rickard Damn nice one, :alla::alla::alla::alla::alla::alla: lets keep up the good work:party0012:. Very proud.
My race started very nice, Qual 2nd, was affraid some time i would have pole :). Don't like to start in pole as then you have the whole pack pushing and i had no idea how fast i was in race conditions.
I had to do some last minute changes to my setup as i wasn't confident enough with it. And it worked great, could put pressure on james and was able to pass him, wow not easy as i had a fairly high wing. About half distance i could pull up a gap to 2nd but wen tyers where worn i was strugling abit so i desided to pit.
And then it went wrong, still pissed about it, as usual i enter the pitboard without reading and then noticed my car tank was beeing filled to 100L. Screamed to my pitcrew but they didn't want to stop stuppid assholls :) . This kinda meant i could wave a vistory goodbye, lost 25sec just by the fueling itself and then was loosing time each lap as my car was to heavy. Tried to defend as long as i could but no use car was to slow in full tank and my tyres where scredded defending.
Still got 6th place. Damn it would have been nice a 1/2/3 . Still gutted loosing in a stupid way like this, rather crash out then loosing in the pits.

explains a whole lot why you were driving slow :)

it was again a great night of racing....damn those Vertigo's are fun to race with
qualified badly, because everytime i was on my fast lap i would get traffic in front of me...sometimes even slowing down heavily....it it messed up my position, so a 9th at start.

race went ok.....i had to fight to go to the top while being dropped off at 10 position....i think i was in a heavy battle with Gary that i did not realize Mark was getting his nose into some action, so i realized a bit late when i went behind Gary for some drafting....sorry Mark
than finally passed and off i go....trying to pass each time the ones in front of me till i got to Ramon. he was way faster than me but at least i tried. Medium tires were completely worn out and with extra fuel weight decided to pit halfway.
got out around 11th, then i began my battle to go back to the front pack....I had some trouble passing Neil and Tom, but eventually i did pass them....overall finished 5th......finally a 5th place :)

Qualified 7th with a PB :bike:

Knew it was going to be a tough track to pass on so quali was important, had a great battle with Ramon for atleast 30 laps (could run with him but could not find the space to pass) then I ran wide at T7 letting C Aponte through so then I had to pull back at least 2/3 secs that I lost, C Aponte came across a car lagged in the middle of the track causing him to run wide and I got through to battle with Ramon again then Ramon ran wide at the last corner and I got through to !st place, 26 laps to go I started watching the XD screen for any one who had pitted and had the pace to catch me. The rest is history :thumb:

A big thank you to all backmarkers who let us through as clean as they could :thumb:

Got my only tyre warning on lap 61 front left, engine health started 97% dropped 1% all race, radiator on 1 revs 2 down from max.

A big thank you to Race Department for organizing all this :alla::alla:

I personally like GTR2 better than Race07 in terms of the car "feeling". I think you can "feel" the tyres better and the cars are more fun to drive as well.
If you think they are hard to drive, try Grand Prix Legends, that was (still is) a proper handful to master! But once you got to grips with it (took me about 10 years to become just decent :D), it was incredibly rewarding! I still think it's once of the best ever made.

It was almost the same with me.Wen i first play GTR2 (my first sim was race07) i didnt like it at all.Couldnt controll the car as i did in race07 and visuall side didnt impress me eather. But after few weeks when i try it again, decided to give it more time (aids off from beginning).First played just offline and on tracks that i known from race07 it started to get better and better. Now i eaven look forward to participate in race events and race online a lot.
As the others said You should give it more time,it wont work affter 1or 2 days but after some time it will pay off.Another thing is that You shold find good wheel settings(psc file i think) finding that really helped me a lot.

P.s cant wait for GTR3 -gtr evolution i mean

i've done about 10 hours in gtr2... getting to the point of maybe taking off that stability help... there again... :D

struggling with the RWD - thats the problem i have - brain just not quick enough to react to work out which input is needed to pull it back into line... is it more and steer in, less and steer in eek! out of black stuff! CRASH!!!!

hmmm maybe i should try in reverse - the power would be at the right end of the car for me! :)
