AC GT3 @ VIR - Sunday 14th February 2021

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Personally it's Lunar New Year for me, so I probably won't have much time to practice, and I know some won't be able to escape Feb 14th. Not sure about others though, usually it's busier towards the end of the week :)

I don't want to be a meddler or busybody, feel free to skip the answer if you want, but how does Lunar New year interfere with your activities?

I'll be pracitcing on the server tonight if anybody wants to join me. Also now I'm wondering, what ride hides are you all using?

Heh, no worries. One half of my family is Chinese, and we celebrate new year for the lunar calendar. This year, most of the celebrations and festivities are on the 11th Feb (eve) and 12th, but generally these days are pretty full of calling home and doing other stuff until Sunday. :)

@Chris Down (or anyone) When I connect to the server - it sets up my car view by itself like 56 FOV etc and I can't switch on things like the steering wheel and stuff after that - is it me or that is just what the default has to be?

The AC view defaults are overwritten ; FOV and my setup is gone - and that is what I use for practice - I am not at all used to the new one. So is there a way to get rid of this behaviour ?

That sounds quite unusual, are you sure you clicked "save" on the FOV configuration?

To all who didn't read all of the previous posts: There can appear a ballon in your way on the road. You can go through it without damage but it probably will block your sight at an inconvenient point of the track. I had that just now on the practice server. To prevent that you have to remove of rename the files balloon.kn5 and balloon2.kn5 from the map AssettoCorsa/content/tracks/VIR.

Hi Chris - no I didn't when I was playing in single mode - I just used to leave it as the default but you could get the steering wheel and stuff. When I went online an hour ago to to a check - the whole view is changed in both single player and online modes.

I'll look into it - too late to do anything now mate : I just thought it was some setting or t'other. Excuse me for any disturbance.

If you were using Onboard settings app to set you view position and FOV and didn't click Save button there, then I believe those settings didn't get saved and the next time you launched AC (online or offline, it doesn't matter) everything was back to default
