@Loore

I seem to remember someone saying there was a helicam.

Any chance of a video ?
We'll see what we can do, odds are when we do a Live Stream we'll showcase the replay cameras and that'll come up

Not sure if you guys have seen this video, In their opinion a Simcade on a par with Forza and prefer it over Gran Turismo 6 in some respects due to practice qualifying race etc and the overall enjoyment of the driving. They also give a brief glimpse of setup work apparently it varies by AI Level.

oh, i see, they just did it to make it more realistic. just like the order 1886 is running at a faster speed of 30 fps (instead of the developers preferred 24 fps) because they needed to compromise SOME quality for playability [yes, theyve literally tried to spin it that way].

i havent played a forza or gt, but i would snap up the former for sure if it was available. thing is, its clearly made by car lovers & while they obviously sacrifice a lot of realism in terms of performance, they have gorgeous cockpits, etc (i know in forza 5 the pov/fov is ridiculous) & for me that is part of immersion. its not a dealbreaker (i use cockpits in RBR sometimes, which are basically on the same level as this grid 3 abomination). it also just suggests an attention to detail that this title is likely to be lacking in comparsion (remember forza 5 tracks are laser scanned).

i really doubt its on par with those titles from a sim perspective...frankly when darin gets early copy i feel like he's already been bought off. i don't really trust his reviews, sadly, & i don't think this title will do anything to change that.

I don't think anyone can seriously compare last gen with next gen. Even if your name is Darin. I'm on the xbox. Compare this to Forza 4 (great to look at but useless to play because of the damage model, brick-like physics, and lack of any understanding of racing, car lover or not) or Shift2 (great immersion but the handling went on vacation)...and you just might have a true masterpiece IF they get the handling right (not PC right, but F1 2013 right). Like with Race Pro, the rest will fall in place. So far, all the reviewers seem to think they did.

well i suppose if youre coming from the perspective of a console user its different. on PC its a different set of expectations as 'next gen' was some 3 years ago now. i had thought what darin & jason were saying was they thought this stacked up well compared to forza 5 & gt6, at least the PC version of it. i'll likely buy it if thats true, but im really not holding out much hope.

That's probably a bit of hyperbole for sure. No way can it compete graphically. But many reviewers say it looks better than F1 2013...and the PC will have some special graphical upgrades. I think they were mostly referring to handling. That's at least more likely to get right, if they indeed do.

Mmm what exactly is this "fall off understeer" problem many had with F1 2013 ??
By the way if Grid Autosport has slightly better physic than Grid 1 then i guess we should more than happy enough since its a simcade .. its not hardcore sim racing.
That's what I was wondering. I am very happy with F1 2013's handling. I am not a pc guy so, maybe I am not in "tune" with the handling as much as others.

Hey this is interesting. Of course Autosport is running on a super torqued u PC, I'm sure, and Forza 5 is running on the xbox one. But still, I'm pretty impressed they are so close.....

Discipline Focus // Tuner

Get that foot to the floor and drive it like you stole it in GRID Autosport’s Tuner Events!

The Tuner discipline will test your throttle management skills to the limit in Drift events, ask you to thrash Muscle cars and get fast and furious behind the wheel of Super Modified motors in Time Attack events and races.

Tuner events are all about style and control; you’ll be challenged to find the very edge of what your car can do, without taking it past the limit. And believe us, you’ll know when that limit is approaching as the crash barrier rapidly approaches the side of your car!

Speaking of cars, let’s take a look at the list of these sweetest of rides…

To find out a little more about what you’ll be getting up to and how to succeed in the Tuner discipline, we caught up with expert Car Handling Designer Katie Weeks and demanded some insider info…

“There are many classes in the Tuner discipline, including muscle, JDM, modified and drift.

First we have the Time Attack cars, featuring muscle cars and the Super Modified machines such as the Mazda Panspeed RX-7 and the Honda Civic 5Zigen. You are competing against the clock and not directly against other drivers. These are lighter, grippier versions of street cars, which are well balanced and around 500bhp.

Drift cars are rear wheel drive, with increased steering lock and short gears which amplify the level of torque. Controlling these cars requires coordinating the amount of counter steer, modulating the throttle and brakes to shift the weight balance, as well as careful use of the handbrake. Timing is essential, or else you will simply spin out.

The Tuner discipline is all about precision, timing and car control.”

With about two weeks until Autosport's release, Codemasters have released the latest trailer showcasing the Tuner class.

Tuner, as Codies calls it, appears to be a mixture of drifting and tuned street cars. The trailer shows exclusively drifting, however screenshots suggest that the discipline may also be used on circuits and streets for standard races.

Time Attack cars such as the muscle & super modified machines are meant to be raced against the clock and not against other drivers. They are "lighter, grippier versions of street cars, which are well balanced and around 500bhp."

Drift cars are all rear wheel drive, and feature increased steering lock and short gears. It'll be interesting to see how these handle on a wheel rather than with a gamepad, which is likely what they are designed to be controlled with.

The cars are split into multiple tiers, and then split again into classes.

Even though I know this game is going to be less than $30 in a few short months, Steam is offering 10% off if you own Grid 2 which I do so I went ahead and took the deal with the free black edition DLC. We'll see how good this game is in a few weeks I suppose.

Would you be interested in organizing a PC League on here? We need a PC guy and a PS3 guy. I've got the x360 covered for one league. Hopefully the interest will be there.
