Nice write up. I have not tried the very hard A.I. here, but I'm sure that's what you were running against. My only hope is for a clean start and a race that's not too boring. I think you have demonstrated that it's possible to run the A.I. clean, even here. My earlier races saw me hitting them in the back a lot, as they tend to slow in turn 1 like you experienced.

More A.I. and laps would be great. Some day soon, some day soon....
Yes it was Very Hard AI Robert, a nice challenge at times but as you see from my write up they weren't as competitive as I expected but over 20 laps you can have some good racing with them. They were very clean but as we've sometimes found online they can behave differently.

Wow.. real working mirrors.. that would be super Nice! More cars are great as well. I always hated that Forza had such a small field. I'm happy when Grid gives us 16 cars!

Well only two things I can say about that.. WOW and LOL that was fantastic racing in all three races and hilarious finishes for me and Hemps in races 1 and 2. More later, film time with the wife and daughter now.

Thanks for the racing

You could try rF2 endurance events, you were pretty damn beast at Monza:thumbsup:

Aaah my glory days lol. These arcade titles is supposed to make you feel good about yourself they are not supposed to actually be challenging :D

Seriously though it´s a good design choice to get rid of the rubberband AI that generally plague arcade console titles. The goal is generally to be top 5 or 6 not win it that is a bonus so it´s pretty cool. And yes I have won some by now but still challenging.

Sounds like my simracing career:whistling:

Morning all, that was great fun last night, I so love these oval races :)

Race 1. Decent start saw me into turn 1 following Hemps and Michael with Railer close behind. A lot of movement from the two ahead made it tough to make any passing move but good fun watching them battle it out. Railer almost got me once or twice before Michael went wide around turn 4 on lap 4 or 5 giving me the chance to go inside but my warning maybe came a bit late as he came down and we collided. Quick flashback saw me back up and running with Hemps now having a nice lead and Railer giving chase behind me. Had a good consistent run eating into Chris's lead by a few tenths a lap while Railer didn't seem to be able to make any inroads into our gap. With around 4 laps to go Chris suddenly loomed bigger on my screen and the gap was down to around a second and closing. Managed to get the draft in the closing part of the lap and tried to pull out on the exit of the final turn but couldn't make the pass but then suddenly he was gone and I crossed the line ahead. On his screen he crossed the line in front so some major lag going on lol

Race 2. Starting from an unusual place for me lol I got off to another good start and held the lead through the first turn with Railer close on my gearbox. Held him off for the first few laps (not sure what happened behind us as a gap had immediately appeared and was never to be closed) but then he got outside of me I think around turn 3 on lap 4 and in my efforts to not drift up into him I got too close to the line and did a bit of rally cross lol Railer got away slightly down the front straight but surprisingly I was back on his tail inside a couple of laps and then was able to get the inside around turn 4, get the better exit and retake the lead on the run down to turn 1. For the last 13 laps we were never seperated by more than a couple of tenths apart from when lag again interfered briefly and Railers car teleported ahead of me before I went back ahead as he slowed in the confusion. Great job @Railer Cantrell in closing back down, I thought I was going to have a nice easy run to the flag ;) but no, he was stuck to my tail again for the last couple of laps but I held that inside line for dear life and crossed the line ahead by 7/hundredths!! Amazing close racing, loved every second of it :)

Race 3. Well after the surprise 3 lapper Robert threw us, do I get the points for first there too Robert lol I found myself starting in 3rd for the finale. Stayed there into the first turn and followed Hemps and Railer around the lap. Michael was close with us too but seemed to drop back suddenly which was a shame. At the end of lap 2 all three of us were fighting for position, Railer had just got the lead, I was side by side with Chris but backed out around turn 1 as Chris kept on it down the inside but then unfortunately he drifted into Railer on the exit sending him into the barrier.

Me and Chris then had a humdinger for lap after lap, maybe even closer than mine and Railers race previously. I tried to go around the outside a few times but he was having none of it so I tried something different on lap 5. Repeating my outside move into turn 3 with the same result I dummied the same into turn 4 but as he drifted up I swooped down underneath him, getting the inside line and resultant better exit to give me the lead on the run down to turn 1 :)

But boy did we battle for the last 15 laps!! I hugged that inside line like a starved babe on a tit and just tried to keep it as consistent and tight as possible but he never gave me a seconds rest! My right foot was aching but I had to keep it hard down the whole time or he would have been through. Fantastic stuff :) As r crossed the line to start the final lap I was confident that unless I made a mistake the race was mine... Smoothly through turn 1, same through turn 2, all under control down the straight, keeping to the inside.. Then.. WTF .. As we approach turn 3 his car teleported 10 metres in front of me!! I'm so in shock I clatter the inside wall down the straight before crossing the line lol That was nuts...

I was still buzzing afterwards from some amazing racing... So thanks to all :)

Delighted with two wins (three with the sprint race thrown in there ;) ) and a second place.. Certainly didn't expect that before we started :D.

Videos up next

Even though I was last or close to last, that was very much fun. Just goes to show what a talented, respectful knowledgeable bunch of guys can do on an oval like Indy. Most of the time it's like a public lobby with good intentions, but some of those battles were fantastic! Lots of luck came into play in this one, but Hemps -- you should take up oval racing on that Alien contraption you have. After a 100 lap Indy Lights race on Forza 5, I was ready for a letdown, but I was more exciting more of the time, even if not as nuanced.

Great job Peter, Hemps, and special mention to Wattsie. He had some bad luck and I know his talent level was higher than his placement indicated. Something about open-wheelers just does not get along with him. lol. But you warned us. I was impressed how you caught me, and apologize if I clipped you but there was no call and no visual reference. I need to use those left and right buttons more, but I never think of it in the heat of battle.

Recording of Race #2, since that's when I quit out due to damage and caught the EPIC battle between Hemps and Peter Race 1 to follow.......

Nice one Robert, that actually captured the back end of the race between me and Railer

Would love to have spent some time racing with you, I'm sure your wheel problems don't help matters. Maybe we can get together for some laps here another time.. Always happy to trace the ovals :)

Certainly was some fantastic close racing.. Would like to run it all over again :)

@Peter Hooper, I have some time today. If you do too, maybe we could get on and do a little testing. Michael suggested an endurance season for next up, and I have a rough idea on how that may work, but you always have great suggestions. And the other vote. lol.

Race #1 - Random Start, Pace Lap (7 laps)
Race #2 - Previous Finish Start, Standing (14 laps)

Since this is a Race of Champions, there will be no qualifying. The first Race will be a sprint race that takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The second race will line up IN THE ORDER OF FINISH from the first race and take about 30 minutes to finish, so good performance in the sprint race is rewarded. Also there will be one point awarded for the fastest lap time in the second race. The sprint race will *not* be a standing start, but each car, upon the game giving the green, will drive around the track, in the order it was placed on the grid, in single file until the leader reaches the start/finish line, which is when the leader and all other cars may accelerate. The leader must announce "green, green" (if possible) when he crosses the start/finish line to start the sprint race. There is no passing during the pace lap and pace speed is 60 mph. The second race will be from a standing start, green flag starts the race.

NOTE:
- The game will not allow pit stops
- Flashbacks will not be allowed.
- Damage will be “full”
- Collisions will be “on”
- Tuning is allowed but not upgrading.
- No Assists except for Braking Line and Auto Gears.

Lobby to open at 3:45pm U.S. Eastern and informal practice sessions may take place before, however, the race will start on time. Late drivers may join after qualifying or any race is complete.
