LoL, yeah frustrating day on the track for me. But that's racing. Cheers to the Winners. Best way to pass was to actually drop back and get a run on someone. I only hope Autosport Speedway will be kinder to me. Robert, I'll try to be a little more vigilant in calling out my passes, but no worries I only wish I hadn't come down on Peter in the first race, fortunately it didn't effect his finish.

Just had my first attempt at this track, did a 10 minute practice, 2 quali laps and then 7 and 14 lap races to mirror ours on Saturday. Very nice track, reminds me in many ways of Paris we raced in the last series.

Only managed a 2:01.2 to qualify 10th and then finished second last in the race just finding the best line through the corners and how much speed I could take through each. Fastest lap was a 1:58.993

Second race I was much more on the ball and ran in 3rd for the first half of it just a couple seconds adrift of the front two before two got past me as I ran wide at one of the fast right handers just after the mid point of the lap. Kept close for the next few laps before forcing my way past into 4th place around the long right hander early in the lap and then back up to 3rd around the tight right, left, left, right section with around 3 laps to go. Didn't quite have enough to take the front two but held onto my 3rd place and had a fastest lap of 1:57.066. Very happy with a 4.2 second drop of my lap time from the quali runs.

The AI are tough here but not overly so providing you are positive in your moves. Not expecting to be as competitive here as in the open wheelers but glad to have some laps under my belt. Not the hardest track to learn either so all should be able to pick it up quickly

Ran with the Audi for this session and will probably stick with loaning that for the race as don't have any of the cars levelled up.

Anyone else got any lap times down to give me an idea of where I am here?

Can't wait for Dubai now. It's going to be the Jumeirah Beach Circuit, not the one in the other direction (Al Sufouh Strip), which is far too easy for these cars. Both are beautiful and finely detailed, with surface changes and great 3D buildings.
@Robert Waddell
I've had a few runs at the Dubai tracks over Christmas and both are certainly very nice and great fun to drive but I actually think the better one for racing is Al Sorouf. It has a very nice flow to it, some very fast corners and plenty of good overtaking areas. Plenty of time to come to a final decision but just chucking my tuppence into the hat.

@Peter Hooper, I have some time today. If you do too, maybe we could get on and do a little testing. Michael suggested an endurance season for next up, and I have a rough idea on how that may work, but you always have great suggestions. And the other vote. lol.
Sorry buddy, didn't get on the Xbox at all yesterday but just got off after a couple of sessions today hoping I might catch you around.

An Endurance series sounds fun and definitely something I would be up for but might be a bit uneven with some having tuning and others not. The tyre wear and handling of these cars would make it important to have an equal playing field in my view

I think we will need a coin toss or something, because I think the opposite. The cars we will be running are not that fast. "Flow" is not what I look for in street races...but tricky corners, trickier chicanes, and increasing radius arching turns. I would hardly call Monaco a flowing track, but it is beloved the world over. And I think you will get plenty of time to stretch your legs on the tighter track.

You get none of that with Al Sorouf. Put in quite a few on both versions of the track. The times are but 1-2 seconds off if you practice...at least according to the A.I. and not me! At least we have plenty of time to decide. There is only one way around Barcelona.

Nice report. Thanks. No lap times yet, but I'm off tomorrow, so I'm going to try and level up and get some practice in. And sorry about the class mixup. I get that confused all the time. I should just put "Street/Tuner" lol.

Agreed on some points and I do also like that layout too. Despite being loved the world over Monaco is not a good 'racing' circuit for the very reasons you stated.

There's a better chance for 'cleaner' racing at Al Sorouf due to it's more flowing nature.

Of course the simple solution would be to hold one race on each seeing as our races always include two races each round

Yea, I thought of that, but I really don't have the time to practice both tracks. But good idea. But really, who doesn't like the rounding curve at China and the massive danger inherent in a fast but risky chicaine? That's what a road course is all about. There are plenty of other "designer tracks" with plenty of runoff and nice flowing curves. In fact, I'd say 80% of them are like that.

I'm hoping to run some laps tonight, Peter. I know what you mean about the AI. In career mode I was better than the AI most of the way around the track except that last sector and that loooonnnnnggg sweeping right-hander into the quick chicanes. Seems the AI has way too much grip there and alot of speed and they aren't afraid to nudge you! Also if we race with AI be prepared to be destroyed in that initial chicane at the beginning of the lap, as they (AI) always try to go two wide and end up brake checking and/or slamming someone into the wall. There are some tracks the AI just dominate at (in career mode at least), and Barcelona is one of them.
