That was in the days before we had any decent Indycar coverage over here but the first Papyrus Indycar Sim was released that year and I loved it.. followed in 94 by the start of Nascar series which hooked me into that too.

Actually their first sim was late 80s Indianapolis 500: The SImulation.. anybody else remember that?

Never tried either of the earlier incarnations fo this game but am truly hoping thats this one is as good as it looks to be in the videos and information releases we have seen so far.

It's going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for it to arrive on my doorstep!!

I had no idea what I was witnessing, but I do remember being fixated on Nigel and being blown away by the sheer speed of those cars around a small oval.

The average speed of that race was 158.686. This, on a one mile oval. The qualifying speed record was 195mph. Freaking insane.

@Peter Hooper I've moved our discussion to the paddock chat area, but you can also get online case this way too:

Online Playlist
Playlists are another familiar feature of the GRID series, allowing players to jump into the action and get racing quickly with the minimum of setup. Sticking with the Disciplines theme, there are six Playlists to choose from – one for each Discipline, and an “Everything” Playlist that will shuffle all of the content in the game.

You’ll also be able to use a new voting system for the next track after each race.

We’ve made a few tweaks to Playlists since GRID 2; you’ll find that races are a bit longer, and that the same Vehicle Class stays in use for multiple consecutive Events. This will help you acclimatise to each vehicle type, so you can get into a groove and experience a decent chunk of gameplay with them. You’ll also be able to use a new voting system for the next track after each race, select your vehicle while waiting for the Lobby, and accumulate championship points which will move you up the grid order.

Playlists use a standard set of rules – collisions and damage are always on with a limited number of Flashbacks, but there are no restrictions on assists or vehicle improvements. As with Custom Cups, if you own any vehicles from the class currently in use, you can choose to use them and make the most of any upgrades and tuning you’ve unlocked – in addition to showing off your custom liveries!

If not, you can still borrow one of the loaner vehicles to race with.

I have two final nagging questions.

1.) Somewhere earlier I thought I saw a slider where you could adjust the "look to apex" view but now I can't find any information on it. Is this in the game? Can we adjust the degree of head movement when turning? Thanks.

2.) Race Net is a great way to be in a group an compare stats against each other and even challenge other clubs, but can you share cars within the Club (kind of like Forza)? And if not, can you either i) sell a car to someone for, say, $1; or ii) compete in "on-line" events either by yourself or that do not involve joining public lobbies?

Thanks.

Reply:

1) Not in Autosport

2) Can't share or sell cars to other people. You can compete in RaceNet challenge events which are online events but you'll be the only 'player' in the event.

So there you go. Good and bad. Bad: We can buy used cars, but probably not for that cheap for a while (and really, what's the point), but we can't sell or gift cars to each other or use a club member's car.

Good: We can compete in "on-line" events without having to race in public rooms or with any other human driver for that matter. I suspect that if we all get right on this part and then get together for a few "show" races on line when we can, we will all have enough to get those first couple of cars. From then, it will be just a matter of trying to practice as much on-line as possible. And you can always sell your cars (if we will no longer race them in the league) for cash.

OH well that clears that one up., Like you I was sure I had seen or read that the look to apex was adjustable.

No. Disappointing, but the helmet can view I like. I think I'm in the minority, but it gives me a real immersive feel. And you can turn off all of the HUD (because all of the other info you need you can request from your engineer via D-pad) besides the unobtrusive tach in the right lower corner...with tire wear and damage indicators.

Actually, I'll be working my ass off to get enough on line cash to buy as many people as possible a new (or slightly used) car for the first race or two.

And posting teasing videos....endlessly racing on line with Railer. lol.

OK, I don't know how the whole game is run, but what exactly are you talking about? You have to earn money to buy cars online? that you then race online?
Can you not just race any car online?

I have to admit i hate the whole upgrading crap that forza is based on, it drives me crazy to no end. This game isn't running like that is it?

It's actually really good having this to concentrate on at the moment. Usually this is around the time of year when the next version of F1 is firmly in our minds so having this instead is a nice change. Besides i'm still enjoying 2013 immensely and having the variation of Grid Autosport to throw into the mix is a really exciting prospect
