Had some Steam credit in my account so pre-purchased this to take a punt on it.

I am new to sim racing and am used to Codies' SimCade games being a player of F1 2013 and Dirt 3. Never like Grid cos of the lack of structured track racing and seemed more like a bunch of people drifting and slamming into each other, which bored me very quickly. I am hoping this will be different and more about the racing!

Glad to see you are picking it up Karl, be good to get some of the long term reliable crowd involved in this little venture. Used to enjoy those Thursday night Race Pro events and just hope we can see this one develop a bit more and with more longevity (and fuller grids).

We don't get it until 27th June over here and i've pre-ordered the Back Edition from Game so not going to have my usual day before release from Shopto.net and will probably not get it until early the following week.

I just know Robert will be posting teasing videos day by day after Tuesday :devilish:

So, i pre-ordered this today... I hope i haven't wasted my money.... lol
However, considering i only buy one game a year (f1) it's not like i throw a lot of money away on games to begin with....

I am confused about having flashbacks online though, HTF will that work?

Also, not keen on the no pitting thing, but if tyre wear is in the game, and saving your tyres works it could make the end of races interesting..... again, depending on a lot of variables that could either be in the game or not...
I was confused about the flashbacks too Karl, just seemed out of place in an online event. Roberts explanation cleared it up for me too but I am scepticalk of how it would really worked based on the problems of knowing where cars are on track when there is any slight lag involved. I can envisage being flashed back right into the middle of a battle or even worse into the middle fo another car :O_o: But let's just wait see the proof in the pudding and have some faith that it works as outlined.

Actually, I'll be working my ass off to get enough on line cash to buy as many people as possible a new (or slightly used) car for the first race or two.

And posting teasing videos....endlessly racing on line with Railer. lol.

Incidents, Appeals & Penalties

We have very clean drivers at Race Department and are lucky to have them. In past seasons, we have had, on the whole, almost no incidents of concern. We hope that continues. It may however happen that rules get violated. In such cases it is up to the offended driver(s) to report the violation. The Series Directors encourage this and Stewards will only investigate incidents that are reported by drivers with evidence. No report = no investigation = no penalty. If a driver's action have stressed you please allow 24 hours to cool down before making a report of bad driving/rule violation.

A report can be sent to the GRID Autosport Directors (Robert Waddell and Peter Hooper), unless your controversy involves both of them (in which case, it may be sent to a Steward) who will forward it to the Chief Steward (Railer Cantrell) unless he was involved in the controversy. If so, the report shall be forwarded to the Race Steward (Matthew Booth). If all four Series Administrators and Stewards are involved, the Chief Steward shall choose three drivers who are not involved to resolve the issue.

Normally, the Chief Steward will contact the accused driver(s), and ask for their written opinion and any evidence they wish to share. The initial complaint must always contain:

a. The name of the reported driver (the violator); your name; and any other drivers involved in the controversy.

b. A short objective description of the incident, without rant and detailing the impact on your race. This is your "report" and must include video evidence, eyewitness testimony from another driver or verifiable statistical proof to be considered complete.

You must always send the report with your own forum account. You can only send a report if you were actually the aggrieved party. Report from outsiders will be not be considered. Reports must be sent within 48 hours of the race. Reports that come in too late might not be considered.

A panel consisting of the Chief Steward and the Race Steward and one series driver, chosen at random and not involved in the controversy, shall review the incident request. In the event the panel is not unanimous, the majority opinion shall rule. In the event the panel is split three ways, the Chief Steward shall choose one of the penalties offered (if any) by the other panel members. Race organizers may consider penalties such as, but not limited to, qualifying ban, time penalty, points deduction from any event, a suspension for a set duration, or in severe cases ejection from the league. Ejection from the league cannot happen without at least two previous penalties to the same driver.

This section applies to all drivers, regardless of rank or title.

That was my first IndyCar race in 1993.

Drivers included Nigel Mansell, Al Unser, Bobby Rahal, Michael Andretti, Arie Luyendyk, and Emerson Fittipaldi.

A great video about the 1993 Nazareth race and my driving hero of all time, Nigel:
**With his title victory, Nigel Mansell became the first driver to win the CART Series in his rookie season. He also became the first man in history to be the Formula One champion and the CART IndyCar champion at the same time.
