Peter, or anyone, I have a lot of free time to kill (day off) between now and Wednesday at 12 noon U.S. Eastern Time. If anyone want to practice, even at off hours, send me a note, or grab me if I'm on. I need to get a setup hammered out too. And sometimes the online racing seems different to me...sort of like in F1.

I had a couple of 20 minute practice sessions and I agree times in the 1:27's seem unachieveable to me too. Mainly I was in the 1:31 and 1:32 range but did dip into the 1:30's and then managed a 1:29.89 on my last runs with a new setup.

Its a really challenging track imo and several corners are giving me problems. The off-camber hairpin is one I really find difficult and generally find myself taking off too much speed for it and losing any gains I've made in the first sector. Also, turn 4 I am sure I am losing time too.. take to much speed into it and I find the car scrambling for grip and sliding wide, too little and it feels so slow. Definitely a track that requires more practice than Hockenheim.

Ah, okay.
But still. A quality game should not need fiddling about to be used with a simple gamepad...

As soon as they manage to correct that (it's still EarlyAccess), I'll surely give it a chance.
pCars has had that chance and blew it. :p

i've learned to race as they do, get in my way and y our history. i got sick of em smashing me from behind, so i give back what i receive,..i wouldnt do it online of course but they deserve it. i lost count how many times i nearlty put my computer through a solid brick wall. or had to restart the race because this AI is garbage.

i need to level up.
i was on when you were on around 7:15 but had to go pick up my wife.... home now

Wife came home and I may not be able to heist the T.V. but if I can, I'll look for you.

My experience is much the same as Peter's. Lots of 31s and 32s, and two 30.2XX, but ddn't hit the magical 29. The A.I. out-qualified me by a long way, but I could set fastest laps in the race. However, I struggled in areas where the A.I. would creatively pass me. Sneaky bastards...but great A.I. Turns 3 and 4 mainly, where they would sneak on the inside if I ran wide at all. If I can tighten up the last few corners, especially the last two, with that one being blind...no wonder the F1 drivers struggled with it....I think times can go up a wee bit.

Hi Guys! Im back :)
I worked a lot :( I hope this weekend will be the end of this crazy series!
I'll look arond here on the forum and I'll be back this weekend if its possible!

I was thinking about next race...I like the not too strong/powerful cars I think I could like some brand cup. I mean for example Golf R32 Cup,BMW 1 Cup or a bit bigger but not the Ford GT40 :D ...something like this.

I had another practice early this morning and still struggled to get below the 1:30’s. Qualified with a 1:30.844 which was only good enough for 11th against the Very Hard AI. Pole was a 1:27.230 and 5th was 1:29.366 so my best laps so far against this level of AI would only place me in the top 7/8.

The race (just a 5 lapper) was a pretty good one but I couldn’t match those AI. Briefly made up one place but lost it again around that right-hander at turn 4 when I ran a bit wide and allowed one to slip underneath me. After that I was able to keep the position but couldn’t make any inroads to the top 10, remaining about 4 seconds adrift after the first couple of laps. Finished 10.542 seconds off first and 3 seconds behind 10th and a gaggle of cars just ahead of that. My fastest lap was only 1:31.22 which was a couple of seconds adrift of the top lap of the AI (1:29.733). As always the AI seem much better in the tighter sections than the fast ones.

I ran low downforce with fully stiff springs and diff open (if that’s to the right? I always forget which way is which lol). I may try more downforce next time just to see if it makes any difference. It’s a bit of a compromise with those long straights in the first half of the lap and slower section for the second half so it will be interesting to see which gives the overall better lap times.

Interested to see from your post @Robert Waddell that you were setting fastest laps in the race. What was your best and was that against Very Hard or Hard AI.

I’ll probably drop the AI down to Hard for my next attempt as that’s what we race in our races but good to know that the AI are no pushovers and give plenty of room to grow into

I've been getting on for a quick half hour each morning if thats any goods to you Karl. 7:30 my time. You need a good hour and a half to fully level up. Thats what it took me when I ran a couple of sessions with Robert last week and that was with the boost pack too and winning pretty much every time.

bought and downloaded the dlc today, wasnt a great deal inside it.

was expecting the car models and such to install as if it were a normal install, instead it turned out to be a large archive of some description..

i use t he models from all my racing games for my own purposes, but this one i've hit a wall...literally..shame really there was some nice cars in that dlc and i also have the black edition...again cars i cant access sadly..oh well i'll beat the game when i can be bothered and then shelve it

I've only had races with the AI set to HARD. They beat me everytime. best pos was 3rd i think last night. best lap 1:30.6ish. gonna have to just practice in the stock setup i guess as changing the setup makes little difference in lap time around here. There have been some circuits and car that adapt really well to setup changes. I remember finding 1.6 seconds on one of the circuits by simply opening the diff and lowering the DF, but here it seems what you gain in some parts by setup changes you lose in otherparts with those same setup changes.

the AI suck. I hate them through Turn 5 and 6 (there are only 8 numbered turns right?) They force me off track and spin me so much through there... also sometimes at turn 7 as well.

sure to have a frustrating race on Saturday if we include AI.

Is turn 5 and 6 the kind of looping left and tighter right? I find that quite difficult to get right lap after lap, especially the first part but found the Very Hard AI ok there tbh... famous last words though lol

You may be right about the setup actually... it requires such compromise that maybve default is not a bad idea.

I'm totally not into another series that switches from car to car. I haven't the desire or the time to level up everything and all that sh!t. It's frustrating to have to drive around meaninglessly to level up only to have to do it all over again two weeks later. I'd love to be committed to the series we are currently trying to finish but i can't be because of the levelling up crap.

Ya, i actually find the turn before that difficult as well (turn 4).
I found when i lowered the DF i could go great on the straights but the turns were much harder to get, especially Turn 3.
Turn 2 is a challenge as i tend to slow too much too soon. or leave it way to late.

It will be interesting to race real drivers here instead of the AI. They seem to be faster than usual and one bump from them can send you off.
