Engberink back in title fight
With his second win this season Tim Engberink is back in the fight for the title. 21 points still is quite a gap, but with 7 races remaining there's enough time to close it. Williams secured a double podium with Utzer in second and Buurlage in 3rd.
At the start Hunsley had kept the top spot and looked set to run away with it. Kederer moved up to 3rd, but spun off in lap 2 dropping to last place. Foro held on to 2nd, holding up everyone behind him due to McLaren's lack of race pace. Hunsley always copied his teammate's shenanigans, running wide in Estoril as well. He could get back on track just ahead of Foro and Engberink. Rinneaho too spun off in Estoril but wasn't as lucky as the Jordan drivers and ended up in the tyre wall. Wolf retired a few laps later with a puncture, running in 8th. While Hunsley pulled away again at the front, Foro couldn't keep 2nd any longer, dropping past Engberink, Utzer and Buurlage within a few laps.
The window for the 2 stoppers opened, and Hunsley kept his lead ahead of one stopper Utzer. Engberink dropped to 3rd, ahead of Foro, Sigoulakis and Keranen. After the one stoppers had pitted as well a couple of laps later, Hunsley was leading ahead of Engberink, Buurlage, Utzer, Diehl and Ancevski. Utzer then went on to throw away his 4th place, a driving mistake dropped him to 11th. The 2 stoppers made their final stops, during which Engberink got the lead for a few laps before pitting himself and handing it back to Hunsley. Despite his mistake Utzer was back up in 3rd ahead of Sigoulakis, Buurlage and Diehl. Buurlage could get past Sigoulakis with around 10 laps to go. Diehl couldn't hold on to 6th, when Laad tried to pass him they crashed. Diehl had to pit to repair his car, and Laad too dropped to the end of the field. With 5 laps to go reliability issues hit Hunsley, forcing him to make an unscheduled stop. He lost the lead to Engberink, and also dropped behind the two Williams drivers. Sigoulakis took his first points of the season with 5th, just ahead of Lintner. Behind those two was a train of another 3 cars, all within 3 seconds of Sigoulakis.
