Voted yes but I have no intention of buying it, if they are going to add old dated rFactor content. What the hell are they thinking, it cost them just to get this game on steam, so I would suggest they really take on talented people from the modding community to create rally/hill climb content for them, first call should be the Sim Traxx team, plus in their preview videos we've not seen a single pace note been called out.
With Dirt 4 just around the corner, and users will be able to share their own created dirt 4 tracks, with friends, gRally could die before it even pull off from the start line, with such a small team at least consider talking to the Sim Traxx team to help create content.

Simtraxxx ? They are making conversions only. Mostly badly optimised. Hasn't released any 1.0 version. The quality of their conversions is very inconsistent.

I'd better think about original authors.

You just wrote what I was thinking about them. The point is that, apart from a first piece of news giving the name of the original author, then they go on behaving as if all those tracks are theirs... and people think so. They have indeed a couple of tracks made by them, but the rest is taken mostly from existing RBR mods.

Sorry for the off-topic, but this deserved a few lines.

As for Akagi in the video by gRally, I'm a bit surprised as well, they could give more footage on the Baitoni-Bondone stage. But I remain positive about the project anyway.

Are you looking forward to gRally?
Rally sim, of course.
Did you vote for the sim on Steam Greenlight?
Yes
Will this be a title you would look to purchase once it reaches release stage?
Yes, definitely

There are at least two new-ish onboard videos on the tube, and this is one of them:

It is somewhat disappointing to HEAR this on at least twelve levels. In February of 2016 Ghiboz asked me here at RD privately if he could use my co-driver mods for gRally and not surprisingly for anyone who knows my antics and stance in particular, I stated that I was strictly against anything other than personal use, so in essence it was a "no". After some porridge-y rambling, of course. See, I had every right to completely ignore the request but since it was Ghiboz out of all people and it was a private conversation, I made a real effort to offer at least some level-headed views on why I was against it. And not only in one but two successive posts (about 24 hours between them). They were quite remarkable and to celebrate it, I'm going to reveal my uncut thoughts to Ghiboz.

Hello,

Well, I'd prefer you not use them at all, but if and as long as they would be for your own personal use only - as a placeholder, for example - then what do I care? :) But if you meant something more than that... now that wouldn't be OK and I'd be categorically against it, and I'm not sure why you'd want to use them in the first place. I mean, I'd expect you to aim far higher anyway, with a more extensive vocabulary etc in the style of Dirt Rally or even AC's Co-Driver app to some extent. In fact, I can reveal to you that one of the reasons why I held back hundreds of samples was to avoid the awkward situation of someone wanting to convert the samples to other games. True story. :D

I shall elaborate just for sake of it: I wish my co-driver mods would always remain as RBR-exclusive because even if I created all of them with good intentions and gave them as much TLC as humanly possible, none of these co-drivers in question have done anything bad to me to deserve these "tributes". In an ideal world most of them would still be totally unaware of the existence of these mods, since it is terribly unfortunate that some of them are indeed aware. It is for these reasons why I encourage you to seek alternative solutions, but obviously I cannot stop the dreaded "personal use". :)

Sorry for all this rambling and especially for a delayed response (I don't check my mails very often). Good luck with all things gRally.

Finland's Internet

Hello again,

I happened to see the picture showing the co-driver selection screen in the changelog site and now that I've got the full picture of the nature of your request, I'd like to reiterate that is exactly the kind of integration that I'll never allow under any circumstances (as it actually says in the readme where I forbade everything).

Once gRally is out there, I'll of course look into whether it would make sense for me to mod it and maybe convert one or two chosen co-drivers for it and do it then with the utmost quality they would deserve. For me, conversions should not be just about changing the format and maybe putting the files through some EQ preset, it should be far more than that. I know this well from my experiences with AC's codriver apps.

By the way, if you wonder why then RBR-World integrated some of my earlier work years ago, it was only because they could do it behind my back (which admittedly was my own fault at the time). But funnily enough, I soon heard that the packs were put together in a fashion that caused all kinds of ridiculous issues like overlapping co-drivers etc. As it was SO bad, I was more than content enough to just lambast them in Finnish circles, I never bothered to ask them to remove them. But partly it did lead to me forbidding absolutely everything. :)

And no, you don't have to reply to this. I just wanted to make things absolutely clear as I rambled far too much earlier.

Oh you've got to admire the level of insight and understanding from porridge! And some good old RBR politics thrown in there too!

I'm sure that even with all that rambling, I made my point and it's a clear one. And indeed, Ghiboz replied to me that "at the moment gRally uses the original rbr pacenotes (for english codriver), I will wait your agreement to use your pacenotes in gRally, btw are only a 'test', I hope that in the final release of gRally I use my own pacenotes." Naturally no such "agreement" was forthcoming, because I'm not naive about these things. Once something's out there, it's out there forever. Just the thought of it pisses me off because when I wrote about looking into perhaps converting something once gRally is ready, I sure wasn't referring to the Grist mod. And for the record, the differences between my released co-driver mods and the original RBR one are NEGLIGIBLE so it wasn't like it was all that advantageous from Ghiboz's point of view either.

But listen, I don't want to give the impression that I'm merely upset and bitter about this because while a matter of principle plays a part in this, at the end of the day utter bafflement is perhaps more apt. When you've got a game that understandably cannot compete with this and that and the other against the bigger rally titles, one would imagine that pacenotes would be something where you could create something perhaps even mind-blowing, and yet these devs resort to an already limited RBR mod created very specifically for that game and consider it adequate for now. Where's the ambition? Why not create a placeholder from scratch in two hours max if it only was for "a test" anyway?

Let this be a lesson to everyone.

sorry to read this... since the pm between us I changed most of things, i'm directly in contact of a english codriver that allowed to use his name and voice... the pacenotes at the moment are 'mods' and in the public release will be inserted as 'default', until this moment, each user is free to use own pacenote mod

as you can see from the image at the moment gRally manages 3 types of external mods, stages, cars and pacenotes

Yes, would be interesting. Just downloaded RBR, and I can not get enough of it. Dirt Rally has all the candy, but the essence is off. Can't wait for gRally, nevermind the Dirt Rally. RBR is true rival :) Good luck.

Following an incredibly long radio silence, it very much looks like gRally will finally be seeing the light of day in 2018, with Steam Early Access right around the corner...

The last I heard about gRally was early WIP footage from on-board a suspiciously Ford Escort looking car over a year ago now, and delivering a bit of a sideways announcement recently (see what I did?!?!), it looks like this potentially very good hard-core rally simulation will finally be heading to Steam Early Access, and it shouldn't be far away at all..!

Ok maybe I got carried away by saying it isn't far away, they haven't actually given a rough release estimate over and above than the usual "soon" tag, but with a Steam Early Access page and brand new trailer turning up recently, it doesn't take a great leap of faith to believe we might finally be getting a go on this long in development off road simulation before too long... hurray!

So without further blabber from me, check out the latest trailer and images at the head of this article...

Interest in seeing what actually comes from this.

Graphics aren't pretty, but I won't mind if the physics are good. There still isn't a "modern" rally game where everything would just work physics and FFB wise.

Dirty Rally - Tarmac feel is terrible
WRC7 - Pretty good physics but not so good FFB
Dirt 4 - Understeer simulator... basically worst of the 3 mentioned

Being even just slightly prettier than RBR with good physics/FFB, and it's a deal
