I wonder if that was a privately made replica, as I once fell into a Knight Rider rabbit hole, learning that fans have pretty good knowledge about any of the official cars and their whereabouts. And the show had dozens.

I was not too surprised when I googled this and found out it was a real product.

Just for grins I visited their website, what surprised me was that they claim they can legally ship this to all but two states ( Montana, Oregon ) Why this surprises me is that pot is still illegal in many more states than that and they claim this has THC the active ingredient in pot to get high.

My thoughts as well. Still sad to see a person's passion project meet such an ignominious end. Just the conversion parts were likely a serious financial commitment.

Given the weird pricing in stores in the US with not showing the full price including VAT in the shelves, I bet this scenario comes up a lot

Well, yes and no. It's never that extreme but you shouldn't be surprised if $16.99 × 2 = $37. What I find weird is that each state (and sometimes each city) has a different rate.

That must be the most confusing part of it. Making it feel like the cashier is picking a random number if you are shopping in a new place

When I go shopping, I just know some tax will be added. I don't even know what the rate is where I live. I do know, however, that food and clothing are exempt. Here, at least. It's really quite silly. Liquor gets a different tax. Hotels get a big tax.

My income is taxed by the federal government.
My income is taxed by the state government (varies by state).
My income is taxed by my local government (also varies).
My property is taxed by the local government and school district.
I pay a tax because I have five people in my household.
I pay a tax because I "choose" to work in the same state in which I live.
