Tough day out for the Virgin Team.
Quali was OK P6 I think on Primes. Just needed to stay in touch with options runners.
Kept reasonable pace for opening laps. JF was pulling away gradually on options.
Thought i had Matt/No Scope when he spun at Chapel on about lap 6 using his wet setup in the dry. I got a bit over excited and really didn't allow for the fact he was pretty much back up to racing pace as I arrived. My ambition cost me a damaged front wing with about 12 laps of my prime stint to run costing about 10 sec or so.
Hemps passed me when I pitted and I returned in 8th. My fresh options allowed a pretty strong attack on Hemps who was with worn primes and I was back in 7th.
Karl lapped me on his final lap but very kindly slowed and allowed me to unlap myself at the pit straight.

I finished 7th and I think 6th or maybe 5th was the best poss outcome here.
Fast driving up front guys.

Probably just had the best career race ever at Hungary! On expert mode - Legend AI using DFGT. Qualified on pole by over a second as the AI seem to lack qualifying pace here. The race starts and I hold my position into turn 1 and maintain it throughout the rest of the lap. Me and Vettel begin to pull away from the rest of the pack and the battle begins. He is 4 tenths behind at the end of lap 2 and the gap doesn't get any bigger than that for roughly the next 10 laps. We trade places a couple of times throughout those laps, with me mainly overtaking into turn 1 as they brake a bit early. Then I pit on lap 10, a lap later than my scheduled stop as I feel with the tyres being orange, I was still maintaining good lap times. I come out on the primes in 8th, with the likes of Button and a Renault (can't remember who) in front of me. The 4 cars in front then pit a lap later which leaves me 4th behind Alguersuari, Alonso then Webber. (Alguersuari obviously started on primes) Alguersuari's pace was surprising as it took me a few laps to close a 1.5 second gap. About 6 laps later I eventually passed him, and pull away and started the epic challenge of reeling in Alonso who was 10 seconds up the road. There are 11 laps to go and I can't close the gap much at all in the next 2 laps. I turn the engine up and begin to settle into a really smooth and fast pace, putting in consistent lap times. I close the gap down to 7 seconds with 6 laps to go. I'm now thinking I can catch him and get the 2nd place. I start to go even faster and close the gap by roughly 8 tenths per lap. I'm pushing hard and with 2 laps to go I get the gap down to just over two seconds. Nearing the end of lap 27 I am within passing distance and this where the most epic last lap begins. I come out of the last turn much quicker and get the run up behind Alonso and into the slip stream. I don't manage to get close enough to pass, and coming of turn one, eagerly trying to pass him, I put the power slightly too hard and the back end steps out. I catch it but this lost me a couple of tenths. I get up to the chicane and I'm back to within passing distance. On his tail for the rest of the lap, I make a move at the hare-pin before the last one but run too deep, he cuts back inside and I'm back on his tail, coming out of the last turn I'm up in his gearbox and finish the race less than a tenth behind Alonso and take a happy 3rd place!

WHAT A RACE! Sorry if you don't give a **** but I enjoyed it so much it made me start to look forward to next weeks race at Hungary! Cannot wait now! See you all on Saturday!
