Jean Francois, well written. Walter Rohrl included that advice (and a photo including the string!) in his book on race driving.
It a great metaphor and it quickly becomes automated in your movements. Works brilliantly.

What happened to you at 3/4 race distance? You were approaching disconcertingly quicly and suddenly you were gone?
Yeah I read that somewhere and it really made an impression on me, so I always keep it in mind. But I didn't know someone even made a picture of it LOL !

Last night my wheel kept on disconnecting (Fanatec GT2). I re-configured my router with microsoft recommendation (some ports forwarding) and thought that it would fix my wheel disconnection problems, so I tried to put force feedback on, and it just keeps on disconnecting again. So I had to turn it off (in game), and then I used the rest of the race to setup the parameters of the wheel (on the wheel), so it felt good. Happy to have tried to put back FF in that race and not in a championship race ! That's what makes this format of racw excellent for trying things

Thoroughly enjoyed proceedings last night guys, great fun :) Had some problems with the comms as much of it was garbled and echoey to start with and I was struggling to hear what was being said until the race was a couple of laps old.

Was hoping for a dry race as I rarely do any wet condition racing and opted to stick with my dry setup and hope for the best. Held onto first place for a while but with the rain starting to come down before we ended the first lap I wasn't optimistic. As it came down harder I heard a few people quickly coming in for inters \ wets but decided that I would stick with my options for a while and was happily putting in faster and faster laps even with the rain coming down quite hard. Dylan was quickly on me and after a few laps battle he started to pull away. He pitted giving me the lead again but as I was still putting in reasonable times I opted to remain on my options a while longer. came in a few laps after Dylan (around lap 10/11 I think) but probably stayed out one lap too long as on my in lap I really started to struggle, a result of the heavier rain and degrading tyres (both fronts on the orange \ red….) had a few tail happy moments and then made my one and only real error as I ran wide at turn 13 and went onto the gravel where Dylan retook the lead. Got round to the pits and put on inters which I hoped would do me for the rest of the race.

Enjoyed my battle shortly thereafter with David. Closed the gap down to him and was having a good go at putting pressure on him for several laps but he held firm until finally pulling into the pits with me right up his exhaust. Really makes you appreciate how good F1 drivers are when you see in the game how your vision is effected with the spray from a car right in front of you. I was worried I might lose him in the spray and run into the back of him but thankfully kept it under control and thoroughly enjoyed that spell of racing. He has already succinctly noted our battle after his pit stop and feeling fairly comfortable I had decided to be a little conservative for a while to make sure I kept the tyres in decent shape. However, with David closing fast and the gap down to 2 or 3 seconds I switched to the fast mapping, upped the pace a little and put a little more time between us and was fairly confident that barring a mistake I would hold onto my first podium place. Started the last lap in good shape but then came across the Renault through Maggots and Becketts and lost a fair bit of time as he went wide (I think deliberately to let me past.. not something I am used to as it's normally me doing that lol) and I almost followed him off the track. Managed to keep it all together but David had closed and I knew it was going to be tight. As I approached the Arena section I could see how close he was getting but felt I was still going to be ok providing I kept it tight, hit my braking points and most importantly got a reasonable exit out of Luffield. Thankfully my confidence was well founded and I held onto that third spot.. just!! The gap was closer than I had thought and a slight slip up would have cost me the podium place. Nice racing David, really enjoyable stuff :)

Definitely my best race both in terms of result and performance. Despite the conditions I only had one real error which was on my in lap on fading options but apart from that I managed to be put in pretty consistent lap times and was the most confident I had felt in a race. I guess all that time with no assists really does make a difference, plus of course the fact that I was in the Red Bull ;)

Congrats to everyone on another good clean race, Good job on the win Mark.. very impressive stuff. Thanks to David for some excellent clean driving during the laps when I was trying to find a way past.. that was some of the most enjoyable racing I have had and special mention must go to Dylan for still being so quick despite having to use a pad.. I really have no idea how you do it… When I tried the pad I could barely keep it straight down the pit lane let alone have the pace you were able to have in the race.

Looking forward to the next one, see you all there.

Yes, it did... I just decided that I am not up the front too often so why pit and end up back in the pack lol The options were really good in the conditions last night. Didn't really have too many issues with them until that final lap on them. I think most people came in early didn't they... my only worry was whether it was going to rain more and I should go for full wets but in the end the inters were the right choice. They still had a fair bit of life in them at the end too.

Tim, Done.
Thanks for signing up.
To help with intitial car allocation can you please give us an idea of you speed. either:
-Gap to pole in quali GP or career vs Legend AI,
-TT best ranking on a track
-Career settings.
It just helps put you in the appropriate speed of car. We allocate on a reverse performance (handicap) order to make the racing closer.
