Ah its just as in real life if you can keep up with the Option runners and keep all other prime runners behind you then when you do have to pit for Options you should be in the lead and alot quicker than any one running primes at that stage. Well thats how the theory goes although backmarkers spinning and having incidents doesnt help of course:poke:

I always start with options which in turn leads to an early pitstop (usually 1-3 laps before the lap set in strategy). Next time i'll try prime first and run with them for as long as possible and see how it goes.

At least I don't wreck my car, not for a long time now anyway, but that might be because i drive too slow to do it

Hmm goodluck with that, your strategy might work, if you go primes for the start of the race and stay at a nice rhythm near the back or middle.... you will stay out on track, meaning the rest will have to pit... you're gain a advantage of 30-40 seconds.... all depends on your driving and whether you spin out or not....

Basically it can be a really good choice if you don't have any miss haps

But I always have mishaps, The way I look at it is this if you can sort of keep pace to the option runners then your gonna gain positions no matter what, also if option runners are stuck behind you while your on primes they gonna have a harder time catching you later on when the tables turn.

This was a nice race thank you all.
Managed to seal the pole position on the soft tyres, that was sweat...
Had a good start, clean first corner and stayed in front. Sciss overtook me on the first long straight but goes wide in the hairpin...
There were some good fights I think behind me between spondoo- andrew and scizz with some switching of places which allowed me to build a gap and I had a decent gap of 7 seconds after about 5-8 laps , then switched to standard engine to save a bit on fuel. Unfortunately made an error in the stadiumcomplex which allowed spondoo to get back on my ass...
Then a couple of laps later I made a mistake in the last corners before the finish straight and spin a bit and so spondoo could overtake me and andrew now all over me....
Had an opportunity to overtake spondoo again in the thight corner in the stadiumcomplex because he ran wide on the grass, but I was myself taken out in that corner before I could do that.....It happens quiet often I see people to try to overtake in that corner and almost always ends up with pushing the other car of the track... I don't think this is a place where you can overtake at least not on the inside apex.. correct me if I am wrong... but there are plenty other places on the track where you can overtake...but it was thight racing so no hartfeelings
Then a couple of laps later I again made a mistake at the hairpin, Andrew could overtake me... i followed him closely... he went a bit wide in the fast section in the stadium so I managed to overtake him again...wow overtaking the golden boy that was a magnificent feeling..
Again a bit later I went wide on the hairpin again... andrew overtakes me again.... he goes all slipping in the stadium complex I think because he is avoiding a backmarker... I manage to overtake him again... wow
Then there is the pitstop... I am not to for behind spondoo again...
Then some laps later I have sciss on my back we have a good fight , he overtakes me in the hairpin ( this really is my weak spot on this track ;) a bit later I am able to overtake him in the fast righthander after the finishline and we have close and fair racing...
But then I make a mistake, to hard on the throttle out of a corner... I spin and ramm the wall... red wing... pitting again.. damn... but change to options
From then on I am flying on the options. Italian is 16 secons ahaid of me after that pit.... within 5 laps or so I have catched him and we have a bit of a fight. He also tries to overtake me in the thight corner and ramms me off the track.... but lets me pass again
After the second pitstop and on options again... I realised what a benefit it was to start on hard tyres ... I was really doing qualy laps time and even better... I guess the low weight of the car, the options and the rubbering in effect( which is not there during qualy) is really the reason why you can be flying.... I will change my tactics in the future aswell... not so much concentrating on qualification on the options.. but saving my tyres and going for the fly in second half of the race.... and also I have to minimise all the little mistakes damn...;)

Liking the highlights, where I hit you though it wasnt an overtake I was doing I had gone too deep in your turbulence so when I went to brake at the point I thought was fine my brakes locked so I had to take evasive action it had looked from the way spoon went into the corner at the time that he messed up and for a split second behind you it looked like u 2 were going wide but you managed to take the corner hence why I chose the inside line. Of course all these decisions are made in the blink of an eye, some go great some not so great.

No probs andrew.... It was just a general question : is this a good place to overtake? I don't know really, my guts feeling says me no but i can be wrong , others claim you can overtake there , i just don't know how.... Have to study the possible racing lines again in that section....

In theory it is a doable overtaking spot imo, but only if the driver in front runs wide on the exit of that corner (fairly common error on this track from what i've seen in races there - note usually you'll still hit the apex but have too much speed and go too wide out after). A 'Dive down the inside' move from behind is highly likely to result in contact. Anticipating the guy in front will make an error and get the inside line in advance to this theoretical error is a tad too optimistic ;)

The overtaking spot here is effectively AFTER the apex.

However if the guy in front messed up his hairpin exit and you can get well alongside on the runup to this corner, then you can go for the classic outbraking manoeuvre.

I agree with that steve... A dive at the inside does not work on that corner... Indeed the car infront has all the right to follow the ideal racing line, which is hitting that apex. I agree that the overtaking spot is either before ( e.g. If your car is next to the other car, not behind him, you can outbreak him) or after the apex or even a bit further if you have better exit speed out of this corner. But trying to overtake on the apex itself coming from behind the other car position always ends up in contact...

Pretty dull race from my pov - not a lot of action.
Seems everyone else got to experience punctures, slides, wing damage, tailing, overtakes, bumps n nudges, being overtaken, etc.

Me? Meh, the most action inevitably was in the first few laps afterwhich I just drove a true sunday driver style safe steady pace until the finish line.
I'll try to upload a video short, but be warned - it's not exactly going to be exciting
