F1 2017 Modding Questions Thread

Hello I need help to start in the modding with the F1 2017 , i have installed 2 programs for photo editing , Photoshop and Gimp but i have problems with the Ego ERP Archiver program.
I downloaded it unencrypted and my Antivirus erased it.
Can someone help me how can I start?
What version of Ego ERP Archiver do I have to download?
I would like to install it to make various Mods for the F1 Game 2017

Install newest, which is 6.1 at the moment
 
I downloaded the latest version "Ego ERP Archiver 6.1.2017.1025" , and when i unzipped it , my antivirus detected it as a virus, and I deleted it.
I can not move forward.

The 6.1 Version works flawless for me for every texture. Finally updated. Thanks to the creator!
Everyone who wants to mod F1 2017 should use this program and maybe think of donating because its really great work and enables us to do all that :) (no i am not the creator or in any way affiliated haha)

I ve heard from some people that there are still some problems with importing in 6.1 .
Exporting works great, but for example when i tried to import shark fin custom names and driver numbers on the car, it didnt show on the car but when i imported it with 5.1 it worked without problem.
 
A while back I posted a question here about using different helmet models, and how I couldn't figure out how the visor and airvents work. I still don't really know how they work, but by brute-forcing my way through the game-files I found where the models are kept and managed to get Hamilton's Bell helmet-model into my career-driver (his texture as well and my suit is messed up, but hey it's a proof of concept).
However, this method has obviously replaced files that are linked to other drivers as well, which means that everyone who was using an Arai-style helmet, now has the same problem I started with -- only backwards... (Screenshots are linked)

Basically, all the generic helmets are Arai-models, and I can't find a way to pick a single one to change by just replacing and renaming.

This is where my knowledge ends and my questions begin; Obviously there has to be a line of code somewhere that governs which helmet-slot uses which model, right? If so, would anyone be willing able to point me in the right direction? I have zero experience with code.

I'm very interested in this question as well, as I too have no experience coding, so I would love to see if it's possible to replace just one of the generic Arai helmets with say, a Bell helmet.

Currently, I'm editing a helmet for myself in career mode using Photoshop CS6. My question is, how do you change the colors on the helmet spoiler and also gloves? For the record, I want the spoiler black, and gloves too, ala Sebastian Vettel's ones.

Well I did some more digging and as it turns out, there is a couple of lines in the .xml that governs which helmet-model every driver uses. Which means I'm halfway there:

My custom helmet (sponsor-mapping isn't quite there yet, but again; proof of concept)
Vettel still has his Arai-model

Two issues remain though;
- In-car, I now have a weird mismatch of Haas-colored overalls with Mercedes-sponsoring and logo's.
- Out-of-car, the game still loads the regular model and mapping, instead of Hamilton's, but the overalls and gloves are correct

Keep us informed, dude! I'd love to see how the results come out.

Oh, and if you do manage to successfully redo the XML, type how in here, I'd love to see how it's possible!

1) Does somebody tried to change the side team car icons that are showed in menus for example in constructors championship table etc? (because if you use a new skin in the game, so that icon corresponds with it). It looks like it should be easy but i wonder in what format should the custom icon be saved? in DXT 5 with alpha i guess ? or DXT1?

2) Can you change chassis, or aero performance in XML files the same way you can change engines? So just copy and paste engine/chassis etc from one team XML file to another? or does it work differently?
