Have any min requirements been announced for the tech preview, I'm worried my system may struggle.

I have an old ATI HD 4870 1GB video card, and a dual core E5200 CPU @ 3Ghz, plus 4GB ram and either Windows XP Pro 32bit or WIn 7 64bit Ultimate as an OS.

WindowsXP will not work and for the rest we will see in a couple days I guess ;)

Here's what Marco had to say about minimum system requirements:

"It’s difficult to say yet – the optimization process hasn’t started yet. Assetto Corsa natively supports DirectX 11, therefore will not be compatible with Windows XP and with DirectX 9 or 10 graphics cards, but will work with DX10.1 hardware. But I’m talking about hardware produced 4 years ago or before. Assetto Corsa is compatible with my ATI 4800 Series that I bought in early 2009."

The long-awaited Tech Preview of Assetto Corsa , which will be publicly released in a few days, is finally in our hands! Needless to say, waiting for us as staff Simracingzone.net was long, and then we immediately launched in the installation, eager as ever to get on track. Version arrived in our preparation includes the Lotus Elise Super Charged , the Italian circuit of Magione reproduced thanks to Laserscan, different levels of difficulty that are obtained by activating or deactivating some driver aids such as traction control, ABS or automatic clutch and two driving modes: practice and Hotlap. In both modes will be on their own to run on the track, but nell'hotlap we compare our times to try to improve more and more (the final version will probably be able to compare our times with those of other users online ed ...) not are still activated the damage to the cars, still we never got to see the screen issued by Kunos, as they are off the consumption of gasoline and tires, but all of these elements are already present in the menu with different selectable settings, and then will be inserted in the final product. As for the menu, it has been realized in a very simple and intuitive, its simplicity is also very nice graphically, giving all the title a very personal style, very in keeping with the world of motorsport. The passion of the developers can be seen by the attention to every little detail of this tech preview and involves the user before they can get on track.

As announced by Kunos Simulations , this preview is just a small taste of what will be the final product, and it shows especially the goodness of the graphic production and performance of the work done on the physics of the car. Of course, the Lotus Elise SC can be controlled using the keyboard, joypad, joystick, steering wheel and pedals as well as the major control recognized by Direct Input, but it is almost superfluous to say that Assetto Corsa, like any self-respecting simulator, from the best of when used with a good steering wheel, without which it must be to lose a lot of driving experience that the excellent work done by the developers of Kunos Simulations manages to convey the enthusiast, the menus and billboards on the track is highlighted the 'important cooperation with the German Fanatec , a German company producing various hardware devices dedicated to driving simulation, which recently launched a new line of steering wheels and pedals that has been very successful among fans, the CSR Elite . In the options we have noticed that there are several settings available for the steering wheel, which allows us to choose the value of sensitivity to speed, the dead zone, the strength of the force feedback etc.. The developers have realized how important it is to give the user the ability to better customize your device driving and have worked well to optimize this aspect.

Always analyzing the settings in the menu we noticed that you can choose what resolution to take and what effects turn on and off, among which we can select the motion blur, various percentages of Anasitropico Filter, Anti-Aliasing and HDR, as well as the resolution of shadows and details in the game world, this course also allows those who have become outdated pc to play smoothly, even if the system requirements to use Assetto Corsa are by no means excessive, and you will enjoy game smoothly and also not satisfactory hardware is not particularly powerful or recent. After fixing some details available to customize the graphics on the screen, we immediately launched on the track in a session Hotlap.
Our readers will remember that we had a first approach Assetto Corsa at the recent Bologna Motorshow, when we tried the 500 Abarth Monza. Unfortunately on this occasion the bad Logitech G27 steering settings that we had not allowed her to understand the full potential of the new creature Kunos, while still leaving positive feelings. Well, after this second test, we can finally say with enthusiasm that Assetto Corsa is a big step forward compared to netKar Pro, maintaining and further developing some strong points of the latter.

Upon entering nell'hotlap a shot outside of the Lotus shows us immediately the graphic quality of the title, while four large red buttons allow us to choose to go down at once on the track, whether to change the setup, view the recorded times or quit the session. In the setup for the moment we can only act on the tire pressure, then immediately go down the track. While we are in the cockpit, a menu on the left shows the buttons available to disable or enable aid in-game and start the replay, and on the right by moving the mouse cursor to the side of the Screen, a series of icons information that we can turn on or off at will, among which are the graphics screen that indicate the gear position, engine speed, the track map and much more. Really a great idea to Kunos Simulations this, very intuitive and well designed graphically, which represents a new way to handle those functions that we particularly enjoyed.

We can choose between different cameras, four on the car with the F1 key, three cameras, a TV and a Static Free Cam Cam by pressing F3, while there is still no free camera on the track entirely manageable by the user with zoom and change angle, but will probably be implemented in the future.Pressing ctrl + r we access the replay, where we can see the splendor of the chart title, which stands out above all the television cameras, where can trigger different effects that make the scene realistic. Among the functions of the replay is slow motion, fast forward, switch camera and car to follow, and finally the ability to save.

E 'come finally time to jump on the track! While we draw on the gears and listen to the roar of the engine delighted beautifully reproduced in our Lotus Elise let's look at Magione circuit: the track is played with a quality and amount of detail truly remarkable, that left us open his jaw as ever we had done in a driving game. The same wonderful work has been done on the car, reproduced in every detail both inside cabin with a really great attention to detail, and externally, with the effects of shade and color of the car that finally seem credible . Even the animation of the pilot while turning the steering wheel or shifting gears quickly is really convincing and realistic, making it exciting and engaging face every single lap, only flaw highlighted some phenomenon of lag between graphics and sound, with the animation of the change march comes a little late compared to suono.Per regarding the various sound effects, some are still improvable especially when it comes to high speed when missing some effects that we do actually "feel" how strong we are pulling, or when you end up spinning or off the track, but to be a Tech Preview are at optimal levels and you can be satisfied.

We tried to run off the track or touch the grass at the edge of the track, and in both cases the effects graphics not have failed us: to our passage fact, depending on the speed with which went out of the track, rose a cloud of dust of various size and intensity, really beautifully made. Even when you are stuck with a hard braking, it is immediately classic puff of smoke around the tires, this very well done. Graphically the comparison with Project Cars is obviously immediate, but we would like to say that Assetto Corsa has nothing to envy to the project of SMS, as is still present some pixelation, the 'graphics engine with support for DirectX 11 is well on its duty and shows himself in line with the screenshots shown in these months . Significantly higher than the titles ISI, Kunos Simulation will deal directly with RaceRoom Simbin and Experience Project Cars, the winner will probably be those who can achieve the best graphics without sacrificing the quality of Multiplayer.

The strength of the work Kunos simulation did however physics, improving the good things we've seen in netKar Pro . The car feels really in your hands, for the first time feel great "its weight" as we face a change of direction, and we can tell in advance when we are losing to un'accellerazione too violent or excessive speed on curve, being able to anticipate the control. The excellent force feedback makes you feel great every step curbs and uneven road surfaces, we see you immediately as soon as we graze the grass around the edges of the asphalt and trying to hindering us over immediately feel the loss of adhesion. It seemed to drive the car in a new, much more engaging and fun than experienced in the past in other simulators, but also more realistic when compared with the feelings that we experience in reality. For the first time we finally found the same feeling with the car you often feel when we get on a new medium that we must learn to know, we had to start slowly feel our Lotus, to become familiar with the brake handle slowly its powerful engine, and slowly we won, managing to push and control so sure enough after several rounds and even some off-piste. It 'been a wonderful experience and we hope that Kunos be able to play the same way the behavior of all the car that will be present in the final qualification. We did some tests with Keyboard and aid enabled for the few who choose to use Assetto Corsa without a steering wheel. The car is drivable and with aid also becomes quite easy to be able to turn, but it inevitably loses much of the fun and the competitiveness is affected both the timing and the regularity.

Bearing in mind that this Tech Preview is just a taste of the potential of Assetto Corsa , we can say that Kunos Simulations is working really well and developing a product altessime quality. Of course, the road ahead is still long and missing a lot of things that will be critical in the final product remains to be seen in fact as Kunos Simulations implement the damage to the cars, now completely absent, such as changes to the setup influeranno so likely behavior of car and that depth will. We must also see if you have entered a dynamic weather worthy of the name. Fundamentals will be the tools that will be given to the Modders to create cars and circuits of good quality without requiring too much knowledge. Finally, we must solve the crosses that have prevented the explosion of netKar Pro, which is a collision between vehicles too unrealistic and poor netcode, which is not allowed to play multiplayer races with more than 15 people. If all this will be done well, and seeing the commitment and skill of Kunos up to this moment we are really confident it will happen, Assetto Corsa become undoubtedly the new benchmark in driving simulators. After trying it, we are feverish and we look forward to get your hands on something new to try!

That sucks.... Got a strong "call" from Marco because I only posted the pictures... Of course it was a mistake on my part, but as soons as I got the message, I took all the pics off. They were online for, perhaps, 10 minutes (if so).

And someone comes with a full "review"... Grrrreat.

Well, soon enough you'll be able to see it for yourself. Won't say anything besides that, as it was Kunos Simulazioni request.

Ohh I didn't know that the "sites/press" are not allowed to post stuff yet... I posted two reviews yesterday from german sites so I figured it was official... That sucks even if we are happy to see stuff. But a good thing is Kunos sees all the sites we post so they know what sites did it...
