That is why I wrote about the release date of version 1.0... The last thing they said was 2013, there is still plenty of time for that. If the "beta" just means we get early access and v1.0 will be released in the end of december (or maybe a bit later) than there is nothing to be disappointed about. But if the release of v1.0 (with AI, multiplayer) is now scheduled for october 2015 then that is really disappointing of course...

I hate to throw cold water on your optimism, but if the full game was due out in 2013 anyway, there would be no point in releasing a beta at all. Features like multiplayer and AI take time to finish. ISI first planned a 6-month beta for rF2, which after one year changed to a "continuously evolving product" concept, and still today there are many missing features. I am not claiming that AC would follow a similar development, but looking at all recent sims (iRacing, pCars, rFactor2), they are all still technically in beta. This form of development approach seems to be the rule rather than the exception I am afraid.

Well that is true of course but as long as we don't know what Kunos exactly has planned it is just the same question looked at from both sides ;) (they say to close the final release in short time in the PR, so I am looking at it more like I wrote it ;))

I hope they will have a rough plan up on the new site so everyone will know what they pay for and what they can expect...

Development takes time and money. Personally I will buy AC in its beta stage.
I didnt like how they kept giving release dates and then missing them but that was just a little annoyance.
No one is forced to buy AC its beta form so you free to wait till the product is "ready" and worth buying according to your own standards. Releasing its early as beta will make many of us very happy as its have been long...long wait. :)

Que sera, sera, I am ready to try what will be sent my way.
It is obviously tougher than it appears to have a complete SIM these days. Hopefuly ordering this version of AC will make funds available to Kunos to allow them to speed up the process.

The real question to Kunos is: Do I get a free copy for being even remotely close with this effort from a few pages back?

Dunno, I'm not convinced we'll even have a pre-order period now. My guess is that we're just heading straight for release. I don't know how that would affect the Spa DLC being made free for pre-orderererererers, but maybe that was the 'something special' that Kunos would give us after the pre-order was torpedoed; Spa for everyone?

:D

There is roughly 8 weeks from next week until end of the year, so they'll add four large content patches inbetween that time. The way Kunos has worded their Press Release info is that they expect V1.0 to be done before 2014, as they say that they will continue to expand AC's life in 2014 and obviously beyond.

So I'm quite certain they have done most of the work already and just polishing and refining the game section by section (AI, Multiplayer, Career etc.). Frankly I think this is a good way to keep the community happy while giving them time to make AC perfect as possible.

Their absolutely bloody perfect tech demo enabled them enough good will from me that this is well enough to warrant putting money down.

But sure, without multiplayer, this is just tech demo 2.0, which I admit is a disappointment.

They currently are the state of the art when it comes to both physics and graphics, so let's hope they don't flush this momentum down the toilet.

I've been playing other games that have been released in this way (Kerbal space program), and as long as the core game is good then I'm happy to buy it in a non finalised state.

I've been burnt a bit with RF2, simply due to being an ATI user, but if the tech demo of AC is anything to go by I've got no worries. Now hurry up and take all my money!!

Obviously we can't make everybody happy and that is normal.
On the other hand, you pay 35 euros for preordering the final release, and what we wanted to pull out as an expansion pack, is now included in the price... and guess what, you also get the game to play with as we keep on working on it.
If you don't want it like this, you can sit back and relax, waiting for comments from the other people, and decide to jump wagon later when we release AI and Multi and people are happy with that.

I mean, sounds like a win win situation for everybody.
It's perfect, thanks for you hard work.

Yeah, ISI said at the beginning that beta will last about 6 months, it's been almost 2 years and it still isn't finished.
pCARS was planned to be released in 2013...
I don't believe they will finish AC in 2014, no way.

Why the hell nobody releases finished sims anymore? All three nextgen sims turned out to be "pay for beta/alpha".
I hoped that Kunos will do differently, but they dissapointed. Also the communication with them was praised by many (including me), but they "forgot" to tell us how will it look like. All this "soon TM" made me think that we really are close to release, "NOPE, just kidding, it's a beta".

Buy it 10 times if you want, I don't care what you do with your money. It doesn't change anything I wrote.

EDIT:
All of you who dislike my posts, do you really are happy with this twist? Didn't you expect to get full product? There were no signs that it would be a beta. I think everyone expected to get v1.0 with all these "soon TM" teasing.

We can't help ourselves, we'll still buy it :D no mp is a little disappointing as its the heart and soul of simracing but at least we can get use to the software so we're ready to tear it up :D
