Just when you think their marketing is perfect, they make that kind of shitty anouncement...

2 options;

1 - Developpers keep you in the dark, and you just wait untill it is released.
2 - Developpers are just humans, they encounter problems and sometimes are down when they have a hard time fixing it. How cool is it that he is open and honest with us about the issues the team encounters when making AC?

Don't get me wrong I wasn't complaining at all and I'm happy that they tell us the true.

It is just that, considering the level of expectation and enthousiathm, their teasing was just perfect, keeping us excited, while taking the time to realease smth perfect and under control

Imo, you cannot say to ur customer "I'm depressed, I can't do this"

Frankly i don't give a damn about the AI, i'll just learn the cars and the tracks and jump into MP when the game comes out. AI bores the hell out of me.

But i understand why they need to get this right.

Multi-player has it drawbacks as do AI but, hot-lapping gets old pretty fast so they are both needed IMO for long-term success. The lack of AI is one of the main reasons I don't play iRacing anymore. Granted, I run road courses and those can be rather unpopulated at times in iRacing but, AI would be good for practice sessions at the very least.

I recall reading years ago that Kunos was intrigued by the challenge of developing good AI. I think he might be disappointed if it were not so today. If he is successful, that achievement will be all the sweeter for him, AC and all of us.

i still dont get why the majority doesnt play online...

I am mostly an offline player and I greatly appreciate Stefano's efforts on AI. Knowing his previous achievements, I expect his momentary discouragement still to translate into quality stuff in the end.

A few benefits I see in offline...
- I can set all parameters as I wish (cars, tracks, duration, ...)
- No drama if I mess up and rear-end an opponent
- I can hit Pause to answer the phone, have a break, ...
- I can improve my driving without having to check my rear mirrors every second
- Setting the right AI difficulty allows some close racing too

It has been a really long time since I raced offline, but I can agree with the points above. Racing offline with AI tremendously helped me to get that certain level of awareness before entering into club races and leagues.

My theory;

1, they got wrecked once and couldn't be bothered with it after that.
2, they aren't fast enough.
3, they don't have good internet connections.
4, no servers / players are online when they are

Yes, all of these apply to me on some level.

1) I think it may apply to online gaming in general but, being accused of wrong doing when one is innocent is a pet-peeve of mine
2) Fast enough - a relative term but, generally speaking - No, I'm not fast enough
3) DSL - server location dependent, low pings are rare
4) Yes, it can be frustrating trying to find populated servers - especially if #3 is a factor

I also agree with Incognito's post.
