The videos show great car dynamics but, so far - I am not hearing any major improvements in the track-side engine sounds and I hope there is something special coming in that area. Stunning video in terms of visuals and car behavior though.

quite the opposite, RF2 has trackside animation and you notice that during racing and it adds immense immersion.

While it adds immersion, I still think that it looks kinda fake. Don't get me wrong I love that developers work on stuff like that but so far no one got it right, in my eyes atleast. So it isn't a huge thing for me... Also animated crowd isn't as important as marshalls I would say, waving yellows flags and stuff would be awesome because that would kinda add something to the driving (instead of simply seeing a yellow on the top of your screen).
TBH I liked the GT3 video much more somehow.

I kinda feel the same but that is basicly because there never was a sim befrore were there actually was focus on supercars (street/sports cars), GT cars were always my favourite thing so I am kinda biased...

But nonetheless the video looks fantastic, seeing how he fights the car in places is freaking awesome and the body movement is simply epic... And Imola is just :inlove:

next up Ferrari videos please :D It would be cool if Marco would upload a lap with both onboard followed by tv style replay :ninja:

I was mesmerized my the car movements and didn't even notice the crowds! I know some people enjoy making replay vids as much or more than driving so animated 3d crowds would be cool for replays but I can understand if it's not a priority right now.
I watched it twice since people mentioned it, and didn't even see the crowd the second time.

The trees do look pretty lifeless though, I'd expect a bit of movement, leaves fluttering or whatever, even if it's not windy. Then again, it's a car simulator, not a tree simulator :p

BanjoMaster: You wouldn't notice it while driving anyway. Will be killer on PC already as it is and I'm sure many people will upgrading their PCs.

Can't really agree with that - you wouldn't look for it while you were driving, but you'd still notice trackside movement even if it didn't register fully. It's the little details like that that trick your mind into believing you're actually occupying a virtual 'world', the whole immersion thing. Just my 2c.

some people won't like this... I am fine with it though
BTW thanks Michael for asking  !

@KunosStefano Aristotelis @Markus72k A small but vocal group over at RD want to know if AC is Steam only or not...please pop in and reply

Stefano Casillo @KunosStefano 40m
@oooRickyBobby Aristotelis @Markus72k at the moment the plans are to have a steam only release.

For the majority of users having it as steam only will be a huge benefit , if they fully integrate-steam works and the game does a good job with supporting mods then AC has the potential to be massive.

AC really has the potential to be a next generation RF1 only with Better physics, graphics , interface, user support , community support and laser scanned tracks.

I think this has been an easy decision when they have been weighing about having a publisher or publishing the game by their selves (managing all the downloads & servers for those, activations, etc. etc.) or using Steam which will pretty much do both of the previous (if I have understood correctly)
This will release valuable time and resources for to be directed on getting the game to v1.0 state.

After the initial release they will have more time to make direct buying options as well as some collectors edition boxed versions i they feel like doing so, but without all the game releasing last minute hassles.

There's a bit of decent discussion on the matter of animated trackside objects and people in AC on Stefano's twitter account. I can't copy and paste the whole string because I'm on my phone, but if someone else could do so it might be of interest to some people here. Cheers

@KunosStefano Is the architecture there in AC to support animated trackside objects and people, even if left to the modders? Grazie.

Stefano Casillo
@NKCookieMonster we have a special shader for flags but that's all for the time being.

Cookie Monster
@KunosStefano Are special shaders for other items something we can do ourselves, or does it need to be done by yourselves in the main core?

Stefano Casillo
@NKCookieMonster there is a small program needed to build shaders and pack some additional data in them.I dont know if that will be released

Cookie Monster
@KunosStefano Please consider releasing it. It would open up many new avenues for modders, like track 'atmosphere packs' with marshals, etc

Stefano Casillo
@NKCookieMonster we'll see but don't hold your breath. it would require a HUGE amount of documentation to be useful.there are better ways

Cookie Monster
@KunosStefano You could farm out the manual? There are very competent people in the community that live and breath shader building stuff

Stefano Casillo
@NKCookieMonster it's easier to just build support for animated objects with an attached python behavior file. Better tool for that job.

Cookie Monster
@KunosStefano Ah ok, and I assume that'd be more flexible a tool for the job ? Your vegetation would look even better with wind movement :)

Stefano Casillo
@NKCookieMonster you definitely dont want to animate marshals with HLSL. Anyway, the priority is the game now.. no time for these things.

I imagine LaFerrari would be a huge selling point for casual gamers... I gotta admit not sure about those super/hyper cars (I am all GT or open wheeler racing) but I reserve my judgement until I drove them :p. so far we never had a sim with those so we will see but the MP4-12C looked really fun to drive in Imola...

Marco has posted 312T on his FB a while ago and this time is LaFerrari. The last one is still wrapped in mystery. I'll keep betting on current Ferrari F1. :D
