Post times, share setups and tips, fill up some leaderboards!

The Time Trial feature on AMS allows users to post times at any tracks and compare it to other drivers around the world. The setups thread for AMS is quite bare, and hopefully if this takes off we can start posting the winning setups there to improve the game for all users.

How does this work?
Choose the selected car of the week in the Main Menu. Click on Time Trial and load up the track of the week. Once in, feel free to play around with the setups as much as you like and post some laptimes. The scoreboard in game will automatically update. When you are done, post here your laptime, and either share your setup and tips, or ask for help.

To start off, we will only use Reiza default cars and tracks, but we may move into mods in the future.

Oh, come on... I knew people could be faster than me, but 1:33.884? That's just mean. :p Is Gaugo = Timo? I wonder if there is someone who makes him feel like how he makes us feel when setting laps like that.

And regarding ARB, I see that, if balanced, they would have the same effect on under/oversteer. But an overall softer setting makes the transition less abrupt, therefore you have a little more time to correct or react on unwanted car behaviours. Buuut, that's the conclusion I got from theory. On track that's very little noticeable, and probably just placebo. Haha
 
Stiff ARBs make the car more reactive and provide better feedback. I use stiff ARBs on tracks witch lots of fast direction changes. Soft ARBs on the other hand let you ride the kerbs harder but the car is less predictable.

Yes, that is me. And, yes, there are more than enough people like that.

I can definitely see where I'm losing time against the best now. My braking points aren't really the problem, its just getting the car turned in and carrying as much speed. The line through the esses is obviously important as he's avoiding taking a lot of curb on the right side which really messes you up.

That brake and throttle used together to balance things though... super pro stuff I'm not even gonna try to do. @Gaugo how much of your lap time do you think is made by your use of the balancing of the two inputs together? If you were compelled to only right foot brake how much slower do you think you'd be?
 
Yea I may do. I have been very much in my comfort zone for a while mostly focusing on improving consistency and basics and all that, doing long stints. I guess a new leap is in order, see if I can break my comfy 2-2.5 seconds below the fastest of the fast.
 
@P*Funk That is easier said than done. ;)

I think there are basically two kinds of drivers both in simracing and IRL. Those who change their style to suit the car and therefore get the most out of it and those who change the car setup to suit them and keep their style the same. I am in the second group and am probably too old to change my habits now. :(
 
@Gaugo how much of your lap time do you think is made by your use of the balancing of the two inputs together? If you were compelled to only right foot brake how much slower do you think you'd be?

This may surprise you. There is no difference. I've actually managed to improve my time by a few thousands with right-foot braking. I'm more comfortable with left-foot braking, though. It lets me correct small mistakes under braking which helps me with consistency.

Phew.. That's a long track to learn. Even worse when you can't get a clean lap, be it by crashing or track limits penalty. But fun anyway!

I just set the gear ratio one click shorter, nothing else. Everything else I touch makes the car worse on this track. Maybe I could shave a couple of tenths, but I don't have the mental power to nail such a long track.
