AC Alfa Romeo GTAm @ Goodwood - Mon 27 Jul 2020

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
I watched a video of world’s fastest time, I noticed his top speed on both the straights was nearly 10mph faster than I got, even though his exit speed was no more than 1 or 2 mph faster!!! If that.
So I went on to the drag strip against an Ai driven Alfa Gtam.
Again Ai got a 10mph advantage, I can on the drag strip easily equal and sometime beat the Ai launch over the first 50 feet, made no difference, still got easily beat, even though I used the same shift points as Ai.
Totally confused, can someone shed some light on this conundrum.
I used, obviously my mph gauge and his Mph gauge so there should be no problems there, the drag strip also backed it up too.
Am I missing the bleeding obvious.:(
PS, just out of interest I would need another 500m appropriately to equal his top speed.

I guess @Pessio would be the person to ask about this?
BTW, what an awesome mod this is, thank you so much. Gonna try the updated Pantera soon I think.

Strange, there is no way AI can cheat on speed! ( Or i will use it BTW, ai is always a bit on slow side ) Did u have the last version? double checked gear ratios or fuel?

I was pretty thorough with the gearing, but...
I will have a look at fuel when I get home, that is just the bleeding obvious thing I would miss..

@Pessio

I always have the pedal app running so no brake drag, I have 1 litre of fuel aboard.
Copied the Ai gearing for the 1000m drag race.
I was leading for the first 100yrds, still managed a loss of 8 mph at half way. lost by over a second.

Could it be possible that the updated car is slower, could the Ai be using the old cars physic's ????

Screw the AI.
Come on the server later for a chin wag and a coffee and doughnut. ;)

What speeds are you getting down Lavant straight before braking for the last complex? Just checked a replay of one of my fastest laps (a 1:29.6) and I'm getting to about 205kph on the speedo before hitting the brakes when I reach the service road on the left, so I imagine that's similar to you as the WR video he seems to be hitting over 220kph braking at the same point having only been ~2kph faster at the apex of the corner leading onto the straight!

What gearing are you using? I don't recall changing it from stock but might have done when I first started playing with this combo

Chris, I got 126mph that is about 202kmh, if I looked at the replay that may very well be 204kmh peak. My time is a bit slower than you 1:29:0.7
I tried every gear that made sense, the peak is I think about 7500rpm , changing at a lower rpm also makes sense due to the torque drop off at 6500rpm..
But what ever I did it was about the same. As you say could not get anywhere near 220kmh.
That was exactly the same on the drag strip 1000m ; against the Ai it just walked away from me, you could observe the tenths just ticking away.
I do think there is time in the gearing, but as it is just one race I cannot really see the point in chasing that route, I know for certain that we are not talking about 220kph
I’ve spent enough time with the gearing and rpm Change point on the drag strip to know that once you are chasing the 1000m finish line it only makes 1 mph. And that is more hopeful than true.!!!

Here's my gearing, not sure if CM is reading the setup wrong but top in 5th is in theory 139mph according to the in car setup screen but 251kph according to CM, which doesn't add up as 250kph is about 155mph!

139mph is more accurate, the below is a screenshot just about to brake, so over 7700rpm and 129mph.

In case it makes a difference: in multiplayer replays, you can't trust the speedometer for other players - it seems to be REALLY heavily smoothed, so the displayed maximum speed on straights is significantly too low. (And while cornering the speeds are also bogus - the apex speeds are too high!) During an actual session, it seems to show the correct "live" speeds for other players.
(I have no idea if the AIs are similarly affected, because I never use them.)

I think I appreciate what you are saying Neil, but I have maybe incorrectly assumed my speedo reading is true. So looking at the WR on the video i was looking at his speedo reading, So thought I could accurately compare our two readings.

Chris never got anywhere near 129, as I said maybe 127.
