2011 World Rally Championship

Good news from Mini WRT - They have contracts to cover the whole 2012 season with 2 manufacture cars, but nothing is signed yet. BMW stopped developing the 1.6T engine and let the work to be done by Prodrive, but still will be supplying consultations for Prodrive about development

Nah, no monufacturer will sign as long as the CSI / North One / Antonov thing is still going on is the thing Autosport reports. So FIA have 10 days to solve the mess, or extend the date even longer, but tbh, I don't think it looks good at all.

He is, but the clock is ticking for FIA to get a solution on this. Even though it is rumoured now that Petter has a deal with M-Sport (what deal, I don't know. But a deal). If there is a WRC 2012.
I still haven't seen any signs of the media moving away from if, sadly.

Its not rumoured, it is true that Petter is trying to get a contract with M-Sport. By his own words from Betteg's ceremonial, he ends as a freeholder in Citroen and if he wont get a deal with M-Sport, he ends in WRC and try to take a look at something different like Le Mans.

1- Stig Bonqvist (The professor)
2- Sebastien Loeb (The perfeccionist)
3- Juha Kankunnen (The Tactical)
4- Marku Allen (The Road Cleaner)
5- Tommy Makinen (The ("What? He beat my time? I´ll blow this engine on next stage to regain those seconds") Crazy Speeder):D

NEVER Michelle Mouton, she has destroyed Rally since she's entered the Rally administration, the worst part of Rally right now and one of the causes of the crisis that WRC is passing trough now.

The best for me are :

Loeb

Juha Kankunnen

Tomi Makinen

And also a little bit for me, Colin Mcrae.

Cheers

This is a thread about their driving prowess, not their political exploits. Is it partly because she's one of those damn fangled "women" things, Manuel?

Not gonna list the drivers of the past, I'm looking at the future here. One man for me, Craig Breen. Won the WRC academy this year. It's a real shame he's Irish because nobody will give money to an Irishman anymore since the whole "we've run out of money" thing.

In that case, i admit it had nothing to do with her driving prowess and i apologize, she was indeed a great driver and i respect that she even had a big chance of becoming World Rally Champion but her car's gearbox broke, maybe if it had no broke she could have been world rally champion, not a special case, because i treat her as Michelle Mouton like any other driver and not "a woman who raced in the WRC" also, extra admiration for driving that Audi beast!

I have to say that is one of the worst things i've ever read, absolute nonsense, absurd and very offensive. We are in the year 2011 Mark.

Best rally driver historically has to be Sebastien Loeb, his results speak for themselves.

One of my favourite drivers though, probably hardly well known outside Australia and New Zealand was Possum Bourne.
He put Rallying on the map downunder, such a sad loss when he was killed so young. An he was a hugely popular personality, no big ego there, just a fun loving character with great driving skill.

For me my favourite driver of all time is Colin McRae.

But beside him, my favourites are also Seb Loeb, Mikko Hirvonen, Petter Solberg, Gigi Galli ( :D ), Markko Martin, Ken Block, Matthew Wilson, Kris Meeke and right now Ott Tanak. I think Tanak will be one of the future's contender for the championship victory. :)

Good old Possum. I remember watching him at the Race to the Sky, a few years before the accident, in Cardrona, here in NZ. A true legend. A subaru specialist here in Christchurch has the one of the body shells of his imprezas hanging on the wall. Also owns a 1993? legacy Recce car used by Possum, Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Ari Vatanen. Tis a true piece of rallying history
