what about the tight left hander about half way around - between turn 8 and 9. I usually run wide there sometimes but if anything you lose a bit of time by going wide over the cones.
as long as 2 wheels on the track i think should be fine.

yep, if you bust those cones you're usually in trouble, same for the ones after the uphill kink. Both lines are outside the groove, so hitting cones means you're losing time, wouldn't make sense to give an extra penalty for that, it's penalty enough.
oh and just to remind everyone of Valencia's nicest spot (how to miss the cones ...):

In that case we should not cross the white line (pit-line) with all wheels when you enter T1.
