Was a strange one tonight, seemed to be a lot incidents though I was lucky enough to avoid them, as Jose has already said I felt for David Cuthill he seemed to be getting it from all angles. Anyway, qualified P3 2:04.2, Race 1: Didn't get a great start but after the first lap 'mayhem' settled into third and stayed there till finish, well pleased.
Race 2: Better start and again there was some over eager racers on first lap but managed to avoid these again, then had great race with Foxs Yiu for 3rd till the 8th lap when I slipped past only to put my rear wheel off track on the fast lefts at the back of the course...race over :( Grats to winners of both races, see you all next time.

Being at the back of the G2 Pre-Qualy list didn't really boost my confidence, but the overall result of the event is much better than I had expected, even though I managed to screw up badly in race 2.

Qualy: Couldn't get it straight. Istanbul is nowhere near my list of favorite tracks and I failed to force a one-shot good laptime as I can on tracks that are on the list. I hadn't expected a good gridposition, but I had actually taken for granted that I would hit a 2.03 high. None of that today... 2.04.2, or something similar, put me at the back of the grid: 15/19. Nothing to be excited about. Oh well, it's just qualy and that's not where the points are. So I focussed on the race and that paid off.

Race 1: Odds were looking good as I expected my BMW to smoke the FWD's in front of me, but I managed to screw up a little. I still shot away slightly faster, but not enough to immediately win places. So it was time to back down and survive the first lap. I managed to find found the open spots all around and kept out of trouble. I was on P9 soon and I spent most of the race closing a 3-second gap to the points.

It was about attrition again. I knew my tyres would last and because I had a pretty clean run I could really focus on my lines and on driving efficiently. IN front of me, smoke arose multiple times and it was clear that the guys up there were running through their tyres more than I was. In the end it payed off as Pirro and Jari caused an incident of which I profited.

I was now 8th and shortly after I was 7th, though I fail to remember ever passing anyone for that position. I stuck to it and took the 2nd gridspot for Race 2, next to K. Larsson (don't remember which of the two, sorry), who had been checking my whereabouts through all of Race 1.

Race 2: My Beemer on the front row with a Chevy next to it... Things were surely looking good! I took a 0.7 gap right from the start and managed to stay first throughout the first 4 or 5 laps.

Driving first... that's was long time ago... pressure, pressure, pressure. It got hold of me and I started to make small mistakes. Soon Larsson was stalking my rear and put his Race 1 sutdy of my bumper to full use. Nice driving lad! I've got nothing on it, but respect.

More mistakes followed and not long after I got passed by other drivers. When I was about to get back on top of things I jumped over. I hit the curbs at the end of sector 1 and spun. So long for the good result. I got back in 14th and a lap later I spun again. My race was now truly screwed... From first to last in just 3 laps, or so... I definitely need to work on that.

Ow well, the race ended with two laps of battling over the last two positions with Bob and I liked that. Sorry Bob for the immensely stupid manouvre in the last lap. I'm happyy I didn't hit you. Good fight!

Q: 15
R1: 7
R2: 16th or 17th

Not bad, though I should have taken much more from that second race. Better luck next time! I'll see you guys on Zandvoort. Gotta miss my Valencia (one of my favs) for V-WTCC.

I loved the action again. :D

Had good time and finally League is started. :drunk:

In qualifying managed to take 16th or something, which is quite close to my pre-qualify position, so I was quite happy with it.

Race 1 was bit difficult in the beginnig because of some lag hits. Also went wide on 1st lap, so lost some places there. Then after driver and system was stabilisized it was great to race and pick some places before the end. Can't remember my position, but it was something like 15th.

Race 2 was bit disastrous. Got quite nice start, but then I was taken off track on second lap caused by hard hit from behind. Well I was quite last after that and started to race again and got another hit and spun again. Stirb was behaving like gentleman and waited me to get back to right direction. Thanks! After that we just drove to the finish somewhere behind others.

Anyway, was quite nice event and I am looking forward next tracks! Saw some not so nice behaviour couple of times behind top 10 but hopefully it was only caused by a stress which first league race caused and next race will be even better. :drunk:

Thanks RD and fellow racers!

My Race Report

Since this was my first online race in more than 4 years and my first real league race in more than 7 years, my only goal was ... don't wreck anyone. Being not very familiar with Race07, I was not sure if I would be placed on the grid if I did not run a qualifying lap so I ran one leisurely circuit through the Turkish countryside to ensure that I would be last on the grid and not take out half of the field in turn 1.

My strategy for the race was to conserve my tires and then try to pick up a few places when everyone else wore out theirs. Should have worked, but due to nervousness, old age or a general lack of skill, my setup felt totally different online and I was quite a bit slower than during offline practice and I wore out my tires just trying to keep pace with the back of the field.

In the second race I tweaked my tire pressures a little and the setup felt better, but I ran wide coming out of turn 8 and looped it when I tried to get back on the track, putting me 12 seconds behind the rest of the field. The middle part of the race was rather lonely until Yoeri spun and joined me. We had a very fun and intense battle for the last 2 laps. Neither of us had enough grip to accelerate or brake properly and we slid through nearly every every corner fighting for the final position.

Thanks for the fun.

Ooww... Sorry, I missunderstod you, Yoeri! :p Soo... can I re-join the league? I should be in Grp.7.

Each round we open a new pre-qualy to determine the grid for that round.
So, please try the pre-qualy for the next round and if you are successful in making the top 100, you can then join the Saturday race. If you miss the top 100, the Sunday event is available.

This will be repeated each round. Good luck for the next round.

Well, it was an interesting day at the OK Corral. :)

Race 1 qualified P6 and was happy with a good start. Then, the chaos started. Got tapped a couple of times from behind going into T1 (pieces flying on the replay). Hard on the brakes, but by now my line and speed were off a bit and that was enough. Saw David Cuthill coming across the front of me from the outside and knew it was going to come to a bad end. David, if I could have gotten out of the way I would have --- there were plenty of laps left. Just no way out. Don't know if I hit him or he hit me, but we came together and I guess we both got slammed by others after that. Ended up with a deranged rear suspension and a right rear puncture. Had to limp to the pits for repairs and could only turn 2:10s & 2:11s after that. Strange handling behavior... Debated whether to fold my tent, but decided to practice driving a deranged car in case I need to again. Got lapped by the two leaders and ended up 23rd.

Race 2 started 23rd. Where else? Managed to avoid the various altercations and worked my way up to 12th. Two guys in front of me came together and I couldn't get out of the way in time. Back to 23rd. Where else? :) Worked my way back up 14th this time around and had a fine dice with Karl to the end.

It was an absolutely amazing pre-qualifying session and the race was definitely a character builder.:)

Congrats to the winners.

Quali: 2,03,1 new PB, but only 12th on grid, damn you aliens ;)

Race1: Slow start like allways from me loosing 2 positions due to beeing over careful. Then i was driving in my own pace most of the time and was quite happy with it, on last lap i was 11th when something happend in the very last turn with 7th to 10th placed cars, so i could sneak up to 7th, amazing luck i had there.

Race2: Started 2nd on grid and got away desent, think i only loose one place this time :D but could move up to 2nd very fast again, but after that i had a hard time finding the rythem since Kevin was all over me all the time, and seeing Scott pulling away from us dident helped my nerves either ;)
Managed to hold Kevin off for a long long time, and on last lap he did some misstake and i got some air betwen us, but then come Greger with his turbo charged beemer and i thought it was best to let him pass imedetly, and beeing pleased with a podium finish. Bang, from nowere i see Kevin come and put his nose inside of my backwheels in the 3 fast lefthand corner, so i was forged to choose the safe way and leave of the throttle again and give up podium.
But when even Attila come up with the brilliant idea to pass me on the last half of a lap, i thought to my self, enough is enough and get my self togheter again, and Attila was kind enough not even trying to overtake me :)

7th and 4th from an old Alfa am i very pleased with, and also a big thanks to racedepartment for setting this great events up and to all of the people making this beeing fun and fair.

Ye, i was very much thinkng to get my car inside yours and share our nice RPM painting with each others sides, but decided to play safe, close finish 4-5 was way better then getting the cars back up to the track from the side gravel :)
It was a close finish, just too bad the race was not 11 lap :) :) :)
