After a somewhat prolonged hiatus from our screens, KW Studios has dropped the first teaser for a new update for RaceRoom that is being tipped as one of the most important for the sim in years.

UPDATED AUGUST 19, 2024, 08:45 UTC

The last content drop we saw for RaceRoom was in May when the BMW M8, GT4 and M2 CS were introduced to the extensive and varied RaceRoom store. Since that addition, there has been little to no news within the sim, aside from their annual content summer sale.

RaceRoom To Welcome The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI

It is a safe bet to say that the new car teased in their post is the Alfa 155 V6 TI, a staple of the latter years of the original DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft). This incredible fire-breathing, Italian illustration of engineering masterclass will undoubtedly make the users of RaceRoom fall in love with the Alfa Romeo brand all over again.

With a total of 38 wins in its competitive years, the 155 V6 TI is one of the most successful cars of its era in terms of registered success. It was not just the DTM-spec 155 that was turning heads, the touring car version competing over in Britain, was causing chaos amongst series giants Vauxhall and Ford.

Expected is the 1995-spec car, as this would complement the already present AMG-Mercedes C-Klasse from the same year. But there is still a rather large Opel-shaped hole missing in that 1995 lineup.

RaceRoom To Debut Historic Track

While the full 1995 DTM grid would be excellent to have in RaceRoom, we have argued before that period-correct tracks for the abundance of historic content in the sim would be a welcome addition - racing classic cars on modern circuits just does not hit the same.

It would appear that KW Studios may have read that article - and took the inspiration: Just a day after the Alfa Romeo teaser, another blurred image dropped, this time featuring a rather distinct tower-like building with a Mercedes star on top. Racing fans will immediately know where that building is located - namely in Berlin. We are talking about the AVUS, of course.

Best known for its fearsome 19.279-kilometer (11.980-mile) layout complete with the enormous banked Nordkehre, also known as "Wall of Death", the track was shortened multiple times over the years. Today, it simply is part of the Autobahn 115 in the southwest of Berlin. The main grandstand remains and has been renovated in recent years, and the former race control tower is still in place as well - it is the building in the teaser image.

It would be reasonable to expect the track to be in its 1992-1995 configuration, as it would be accurate to both the 1992 and 1995 season cars in RaceRoom. By that time, the AVUS had been shortened to 2.639 kilometers, featuring a hairpin turn as the Südkehre, followed by a series of rather quick chicanes marked by kerbs on the back straight before heading into the flat Nordkehre.

In 1996, another chicane was installed on the entry to the Nordkehre following the fatal accident of Kieth O'dor in a Super Tourenwagen Cup race. In this configuration, the track continued to host races until the 1998 season, after which it was closed as a racing circuit.

Update Speculation

It is hard to believe that the aformenetioned hole in the 1995 DTM RaceRoom lineup will not be filled sooner rather than later. Once this is fulfilled, RaceRoom would have the entirety of the 1992 and 1995 seasons. The sim also has entries from 2003, 2005, 2013, 2014 and the more modern 2021 and newer fields.

What else could this massive new update potentially contain, you may ask yourself? A day and night cycle appears to be at the top of some people's lists along with updated Multiplayer menus and UI in general.

What do you want to see in the new RaceRoom update? Will you give the sim another try once it deploys? Let us know on X @OverTake_gg or down in the comments below!

Running a Ryzen 3700X w the 4070ti. Running triple 32s at 1440p. RRE is only one with this problem; AMS2 and ACC are my other main sims. For sure CPU bound, but can't find a solution.
I suppose you´re right. The outdated engine can´t handle your settings. The CPU is not that old/bad but nothing very fast either.
I would recommend you if you have the money to spend to get the 5800x3D It´s a real monster for the money and compatible to AM4 socket and 350, 450 or 550 boards. I am running it with my RTX 3080 and it´s still great for simracing titles.
Ok i am on a single ultrawide @3440x1440 so it´s still not guaranteed it will solve yout raceroom problem (just dx9 :( )

Ummm... the most recent cars have the same dashboards as cars since the last dashboard update a lot of years ago, just stretched since the newer cars have different aspect ratio dash displays. They are absolutely not accurate.
Not an expert but this is a specific dashboard and not the usual generic RRE one, isn't it?

Maybe you're confusing dashboard with HUD (the delta times, tire temps, input meter,...). Because the dashboard is indeed all the same for the newest GT3 cars.

Maybe. Is that similar to the ferrari?
Lucky :D At least the Frerarri 296 shares the same with AMG 2020. That I know for sure. and there will be more. Should also be the same as DTM20. But anyway, there are no specific dashboards sadly.

I mean the beauty of sim racing or just gaming in general is that you don't have to make a choice to play one driving game then spend the rest of your life convincing yourself and others that you made the right choice.
I have every sim from GTR2 to ACC.
I have had iRacing but stopped subscribing as i don't really touch it as AC took all m y time and really with that it was because i could mod and get it how i wanted.

I don't get why some people can't let others have an opinion on a game without having to dive to defend and back up their decision in playing it.
If your enjoying Raceroom, or whatever, then just enjoy it, why waste time in getting random others to feel the same? Thee is too much out there to enjoy ultimately is what it comes down to, if i have 1 hour of game time i'm not playing raceroom, there is much more in front of it that i'll play.
Not a big deal for anyone who does play it, if i don't, unless your belief in it is so fragile that you must have others agreeing with you choices...

Regards graphics i decided to finally get into Euro truck and American truck sim, and it has that something in abundance, its grabbed me and won't let go and i'm still trying to work out why, now that isn't graphically amazing but it does a job and has some lovely touches, it feels alive, NO sim feels alive like your in a living world IMO.
And if i want proper breath taking graphics i play MSFS.
Just play what you want and have enjoyment doing so, who really cares if some random person on the internet doesn't share your exact preference.................who cares....really.

Personally the only update I've been waiting for ages is that the game finally works offline, without internet... the rest is just "blah blah".

thats always going to be difficult due to all menus are web pages and you hold no car physics data/ track data etc on your pc

Well, it's a completely normal human trait that can, admittedly, be very annoying.
For example, I have a clear opinion about all of the sims i play and can say exactly in which areas I find which game better.
But since we all have different perceptions and preferences, we can of course have different opinions. And if you think to yourself, OK, he's just talking nonsense about the game in my opinion, then you automatically try to teach him better, or it leaves you cold and you don't express yourself at all.

Something would be missing somewhere if we didn't argue a little in forums like this :) And if everything is civilized then it's ok

Lucky yes, I only paid for the Ferrari and the Drivers pack (Crosslé cars, Mazda MX5 and the Praga R1), as I am not really interested in the most modern cars. The old GT1s, GT2s, GT3s, LMPs are enough for me, I'd rather pay for full manual or classic cars. The recent cars I've mentionned all have different dashboards, so I thought they were specific. But indeed, I've checked, the AMG is the original dashboard and it seems to reproduce the real one, and the Ferrari uses the same dashboard. It is possible the Praga, not looking lile the real dashboard too, reuses one of another car. It doesn't bother me that much though. The old generic dashboard on previous cars is a bit more problematic but there are many nol existkng cars in.older content

Personnally, I don't really care, as soon as the car drives well (and cars in RRE since the last tire update are fantastic), but I can understand it bothers others who seek 100% fidelity for their immersion.

I'll do that eventually or go with AM5. I run ACC and AMS2, never below 80 fps with most eye candy turned up. I hope the update fix the issue. There are cars and tracks exclusive to RRE I love. What I don't get is that RRE ran fine until the 2022 "fix". Been unplayable since.

But its not that, its people who think you are only allowed 1 sim and once you pick that you can't use any others so you have to then constantly back up why YOU play that sim and why IT'S better than the others.
A total waste of time as most normal people doing this hobby will get whatever they can as they come out and the one that has the most hours in steam is by default THAT persons favorite.... no debate, no arguments.

Maybe there are people out there who have one sim and that's it, made their choice and they will stick to it and act as a guard dog or an attack dog if needed in the face of anyone who dares to have a different choice....
Its really tiresome having been around this for so long....
Nearly as annoying as the people who got a 4090 during the scalping days and desperately trying to justify it whilst playing sims that are a decade old and older.....

It will always happen when there is a track update for a track that you use in championship mode. And well...due to every track being reworked for the graphics update, you'll definitly loose the championship.
So i HAVE TO know the update release date :D to makes sure finishing the open championships
