On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

i got the game this morning and loaded it up on my D drive. Windows 7 x64 is on C drive and i had no gas or brake so i deleted every thing and reistalled on C. I use a g25 and i had to change t from keyboard to wheel in the setting i didnt make a profile in the logitech profiler just used the global profiler i ticked report combined pedels box and allow game to adjust setting and it all worked, i went back into game setting and configured the buttons ie handbrake is now push forward on the gear stick, rear view is the clutch. Id played the demo for about six hours and although the graphics are poor for todays standards (race on standard) i am strangley addicted the the full game there something about it and have spent the whole day driving the academy sections. by no means is it a state of the art game but it very enjoyable as i see the cars handeling is now getting better i was driveng to fast to start with now im flinging the car about and slideing round corners with a smile on my face . This game has something but i just cant put my finger on it its going to be a long night.......

i tried the setting that are reccomended in the video on previos page and there a bit strong and have tried the other setting 85% is good for me, I do like this game and agree with alot of what the vid says, but haveing never played richard burns so i cant use it as a comparrison. And like what they said its a fun sim (thats a new one to me ). For me 50% arcade 50% sim and great value for money think i might have though different if id bought it for the xbox, Why is it such a big difference and we also get the dlc for free....

A very very simple solution to all Fanatec PWTS owners to get your wheel working in this game:

1. Connect your wheel to the pc and switch it on
2. Press the connect button and the back button at the same time
3. Now the wheel boots in to the G25 mode.
4. Download and install Logitech Profiler and activate the combined pedal settings.
5. Start the game and select wheel and you are good too go.

I'm realy starting to like this game. I changed the setup for less over steer and now the game is great fun to drive.

Hows any body doing in there career how are you finding it, i am slowly working my way through it and enjoying it i am playing with the cars set up so sometimes im doing the same stage a few time, i am also trying all the cars in free rally, the view i find best for me is the second of the in car views close up to the screen ive turned off all the assists but do find at times the car snakes alittle under braking (im new to rally games) the pace notes are a bit odd at times, im expecting a hairpin to be tight but at times its a bend that i dont have to through the anchor out for. (this was explaines in the vid on previos page) but still a shock. but overall its a good bit of fun, im still waiting for Richard Burns Rally to come through my door and this is just what i needed to get me into rallies. ive been playing alot of F1 recently but find myself strangely drawn to this game maybe after the patch in F1 ill give it another go. I also checked out XM raceing demo (very nice) and will proberly buy that at some point in the future (im no good at making things though) but can see the potential of it ... to many games and not enough time, well thats gameing for ye......

Ondrej im proberly the last peson to give advice but i had to make a profile in profiler and unticked all the boxes in global profiler. In specific game setting i have every box ticked, but "Allow game to adjust setting " overall strenth is 84 ..spring is 15..Damperis 15.. Centre spring is 100.. degeres of rotation is 310 and in game i clicked on setting and clicked on force feedback whilst in a game , ive also just downloaded the latest logitech software 5.10.127 sorry if this is infomation you already know...

Is it possible to enter PS3 mode without connecting to PS3.....Cant get my wheel to switch to PS3 mode

Does your wheel show the Playstation symbols?

Are You Buying WRC?

Just watched the ISR episode where they reviewed this game. It really reminded me of Rallisport Challenge 2 - a game I loved to play online.

I was not planning on buying this game before, but now I am considering it for the online play.

How about you?

Nope, quite disappointed with it, I'm not even going to steal it, LOL. (to the moderator: before I get censored for no reason, that was a joke, all my games are legit )

I saw ghost cars in that episode, is it just me that shivers at rallying with ghost cars? :D

For me it would be a toy that I picked up to play when I did not have the focus that RBR requires, which is quite often. In that case I really like the ghost cars because it feels like you are actually racing someone instead of by yourself against the clock. I have had several friends that I have gotten all set up with RSRBR, but they lose interest since they are not really into the championships, they want to just goof around in a room with their friends, so they go back to Forza.

I don't think anyone is going to knock RBR off the top dog spot in simulation, but this looks like it could be a fun toy for talking trash with buddies, and I think an arcadey game would be perfect for bringing "door to door" racing into a rally game, like Rallisport Challenge was.

Highly unlikely that I'll bother with it.
I had high (ish) hopes that it might advance the Rally Sim market beyond RBR, especially after reading their pre release marketing hype. As usual, that turned out to be basically lies, and it seems that much of the promoted content was never planned, rather dishonest in my opinioin. In the end, it's looking like another Console game that has been ported badly to the PC (very poor wheel support), therefore not of interest to me.

I'm not into Console gaming, so that style of Racing isn't of interest to me. I can see it's appeal to a specific market though.

WRC car setups thread

For someone who's been playing racing sims for the last 20 years, I'm a complete noob when it comes to car setups.

Any one got any tips?

So far I'm only on level 2 in the career mode, so I'm still only driving the 2WD cars.

I've decided putting the brake balance all the way to the front is best, and I tend to have the front differential extremely low, otherwise I get too much understeer as soon as I put my foot down. I prefer having generally stiffer suspension too.

Anyone car to share their ideas?

if after useing the modded file from simracer for single axis on brake and gas and you put the original file over the top of the modded file you can go online in multyplayer and use time attack and you will still have single axis on the brake and gas ...

Well I tried the demo last night, using an xbox gamepad, and I was surprised at the difficulty. I had to crank down the AI to half to win stages. Not a big surprise, I am not terribly fast in racing games. I found initiating and holding a slide very difficult with a gamepad.

It definitely has some sim in it, the cars have lots of inertia, and require precise braking. It definitely has some arcade in it too, bouncing off walls, big cuts, wide roads. The physics are a step in the right direction compared to Dirt 2, but the overall presentation does not match the Codemasters title.

The frame rates seemed really low, but I think I read they are limited to 30fps?

Overall I think it is a nice replacement for Dirt 2 if you want stricly stage rally and are not concerned with all the other offroad stuff in Dirt 2. I may consider buying on xbox it if some of the guys I raced with on xbox buy it, but most likely will not.

I would buy it when I have console, because it is a lot of fun with gamepad :) but for PC there are so many better games (even dirt 2 is more playable) - nothing to compare RBR, but I am disappointed because they promised full stages etc. and what we got :(
