On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

I tried to access the dat file, but no joy. Just tried the game and can't believe how bad it looks. My jaw dropped for all the wrong reasons! Is anyone able to get more force feedback than just the wheel giving opposite pull when the car decides to fishtail? I don't get anything else.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that if you pause in game there a shaking keyboard icon in the menu. Select that and you can turn ffb on.

Well I'm actually starting to like this game. At the moment I use the stability aid otherwise it just seems undriveable. The cars have this exaggerated pendulum effect when you try to correct a spin with opposite lock. I also decreased the brake pedal sensitivity as the wheels were locking up with the slightest touch. However, once all the controls were dialled in nicely and the car setup tweaked from the defaults it actually became fun to play.

I just hope we get a patch with more options to tune the graphics. I checked my CPU utilisation and it was only 5%, peaking occasionally to 7. The GPU, 60%. So much more could be done with this game visually, on the PC at least.

The game came today and i was playing for about 3 hours. I started the Career-mode and nearly finished Level 2 of it (every Level contains about 6 Rallyes, some are solo-stages, some are Rallyes w/ about 6 Stages).

As always, you are starting with an easy and slow car. With participating several Stages of your Career-Ladder-Mode you gain Credits. With it you can buy new and better cars, some of them you will need to buy, because they will be required to further climb the ladder.

At the beginning i was mightily struggeling with the massive amount of oversteering, but after altering the Set-Up i found a real good one. Now i have confidence to drive it real fast, without bothering about crashing into something offside the track all the time. With the gained confidence the laptimes are getting better very fast.

My Pro & Contra-List from playing WRC the first couple of hours:

*** PRO's ***
- After a few attempts you are gettin a good feeling for the car
- Good mix of Stages
- Rallye of Wales especially was made quite well
- Career-mode is fun to drive, good variation of Challenges
- After driving some Stages you get a quite good Rhythm with driving and what to expect in the next two corners

*** CONTRA's ***
- It's sad that before driving a Stage, there is no further Information about it (you don't know what type of surface you are driving)
- The graphics are not up-to-date (sorry but i've to mention that)

That is my humble opinion of the game. I hope i could help you a little bit. Overall, i can recommend this game. But to be honest, i would have better waited for it to get a little cheaper. But, maybe within a few months, when you can get it for about 30 EUR, it will be a nice game to have.

Why not post it here instead of a pm?

Becasue that would be far too sensible Bram.....doh :tongue:

Ok, I got all the information from this thread http://www.nogripracing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226053

First you need to back up the data.mix file found in the main game directory (x:\\Programfiles\BlackBeanGames\WRC2010) in case things don't work out and you need to revert back to the old one.

Then download Mixfile Remixer v0 1 6.zip from here http://lemic.fileave.com/

Open Mixfile Remixer and make sure the 'Extract Mixfiles' tab is selected at the top. Then we need to select the correct Mixfile to unpack so click browse at the top on the right hand side. Select the data.mix file from the game folder we made a backup of above (make sure you select the file in the game folder and not the backup!).

Then we need to input the destination directory at the bottom. What I do is creat a folder on the desktop called 'WRCunpack'. I then click browse on the right hand side at the bottom and point to this folder on my desktop. Make sure 'Extract all files in Mix file' is highlighted and click 'Extract Files'.

This should creat a folder called 'Data' in the 'WRCunpack' folder on your desktop. Open this folder, scroll all the way to the bottom and open the file 'wheelgamescript default.tml' in notepad. We can then edit this file to assign different buttons to different commands.

First it's worth mentioning what the buttons on the Fanatec are called in game as they differ from what they are called in rFactor!

Shift paddle down : 1
Shift paddle up : 2
Back : 3
Start : 0
X = 4
A = 5
Y = 6
B = 7

If you have the sequential shifter attached you could use one direction for the hand brake, interestingly the proper brakes are called frontbrake in the wheelgamescript default.tml file and the hand brake is called backbrake.

Sequential shifter up : 8
Sequential shifter down : 9

So change the button numbers in the wheelgamescript default.tml file to the correct ones from above. Example shiftup should be button 2, shiftdown should be button 1 and pause should be button 0. Use whatever buttons you want.

To map the throttle and brake to a seperate axis you must replace the lines in the wheelgamescipt defautl.tml file with this

<ACTION name="MODE0_ACCELERATE">
<BUTTON><VALUE>JOY_YL</VALUE></BUTTON>
</ACTION>
<ACTION name="MODE0_FRONTBRAKE">
<BUTTON><VALUE>JOY_RZL</VALUE></BUTTON>
</ACTION>

I have noticed as well as some others that this has a bit of a strange effect on the throttle and brake pedal and they only seem to work at their last 20% of throw, so until more testing is done it may be worth just leaving this as it is on a single axis.

Once you are finished editing to your liking save the file and then it needs to be repacked. Select the 'Creat a new mixfile' tab at the top of Mixfile Remixer. Then we need to select the source for the new mixfile by clicking browse on the right hand side at the top. Point to the 'Data' folder in the 'WRCunpack' folder on your desktop.

We then need to select the new mixfile path. I create another folder on my desktop called 'WRCnewmixfile'. Click browse on the right hand side at the bottom and point to the new folder you have just created, type in the file name as data.mix and hit save. Now the important bit, make sure the mixfile format dropdown box has 'SBK-X/V8' displayed and the 'omit root folder' at the top is NOT ticked.

Now click on 'pack new mixfile' and a file named data.mix will magically appear in the 'WRCnewmixfile' folder. Simply drag this to the game folder and it will ask you to replace the existing one. Then run the game, into options, controller options, make sure the wheel is selected, click on reset to default and save. You should notice the controls change to the new button numbers you selected in the 'wheelgamescript default.tml' file. Play and enjoy!!

Hope that is straight forward enough but if not ask away.

People have started reporting that the game can't be played on line if you mess with the mix files.

I'm struggling with making my Driving Force Pro to work with split axis.
I managed to get around the problem of configuring the wheel itself but I found another problem then.
When you actually make the pedals split axis, the game detects their movement from halfway downwards.
This means, that in order to start accelerating/braking the pedal has to be pushed a bit more than 50% down and similarily, to have 50% brake pressure the pedal has to be pressed about 75% down. This makes it really, really difficult to do left foot braking.
Playing with DXTweak doesn't help at all.

I spent couple of hours investigating the problem actually. What happens with my DFP pedals when they're set to be split axis they report their position in values from -32768 to 32767 and it seems that the game only recognizes the 0+ values in this case.
I cannot see any solution other than BlackBeans producing a patch.

I bough the game yesterday 5pm online from Gameseek including delivery 21.84 pounds it arrived this morning 10:00 at my house in england now thats a good service , ive played the demo and im now going to give this a blast, it loaded up lots to look at and click will give it ago,
