Its tricky finding the 2009 regs but it seems from this article that race 2 included a compulsory pit stop where it was required that at least 2 tyres had to be changed.
It would seem that FR3.5 were keeping costs under control.
Tyres are one of the single biggest costs for a team in one make champ[ionships. Not to mention the salary for 6-10 guys to run a pit stop and change tyres. Its (managing costs) to something they have done very well as they cost approx @ circa Euro 700k per season which is 1/3 the price of a GP2 season but have just as much cred..
I guess changinr 2 tyres could be managed with existing crew.
So maybe we try a compulsory stop in race 2 and see how it impacts racing?
Tyre wear seems pretty good at Fuji but they aren't indestructible. I got much better wear when I drove at race pace vs Quali pace.
Personally I would like tyre management to have a smaller influence in a 45 min sprint race but we can try both formats in testing I suppose.

see below Carlin Press release 13/4/2010

13 April 2010
Carlin's Formula Renault 3.5 team is heading to the Motorland circuit in Spain this week, for the first race of the 2010 season. Carlin's Jake Rosenzweig will be making his FR3.5 debut this weekend, having made the step up from F3 Euro Series, while Mikhail Aleshin makes a return to the series he raced in during the 2008 season.

The FR3.5 teams return to the circuit that closed the 2009 season, where Carlin's racers Oliver Turvey and Jaime Alguersuari clinched first and second in the rookie championship. As Carlin's 2010 season gets underway at Motorland, Alguersuari will be continuing his career in the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix in Shanghai.

Carlin's 2010 team offer a combination of potential and experience in the forms of American Rosenzweig and Russian racer Aleshin. While Rosenzweig has familiarised himself with the impressive FR3.5 machinery during pre-season testing, Aleshin has been a consistent front runner, confirming the pace of the Carlin car.

The are a few changes to the 2010 format, with two qualifying sessions each weekend, rather than one which was previously the case. Each race will be preceded by a qualifying session while the teams have to run a mandatory "light" aero configuration in Saturday's qualifying session and race. Carlin, along with the other FR3.5 teams must use a smaller rear wing, with limited deflection angles fixed by the regulations, while sealing skirts will also be outlawed during Saturday running. Race two will once again feature a compulsory pit stop with at least one of pair tyres changed - making race strategy an important feature in FR3.5 weekends.

Looking ahead to the first race of the season, Aleshin said, "I'm very happy the first race of the year is finally here, the gap over the winter has been too long for me; I just want to race now. I'm expecting maximum results, of course I want to go out and win, but I think it will be very competitive and it will be interesting to see where all the drivers and teams are now testing is over."

Team mate Rosenzweig is also keen to for the season to get underway, "I'm looking forward to my first race. I just want to get going, keep my head down and learn so we can start fighting at the front as soon as possible."

Racing Director Trevor Carlin added, "It seems a long time since we were last at Motorland for the season finale, where Oliver [Turvey] took our last pole of the 2009 season. Mikhail and Jake have both done a great job in testing, but this will be their first experience racing at the circuit, so they may be at a slight disadvantage to some of the other drivers. Both are more than capable of being among the front runners and with Mikhail's previous experience, we have a driver who is capable of winning races from the start of the season."

No matter what it actually is, but I hope we have clear Race-Settings for atleast Round 1 hopefully defined here on the forums as soon as possible and also reflected in the server-settings.

Will change the tyrewear, it will be 1x. Tomorrow I will post the raceconditions and will set up the server like that.

EDIT: server is updated to tyrewear 1x (normal).

Ian do we need to send our skins anywhere or is it a case of we just install them on our teams pc's and that takes care of it ? and is there a template for helmet and driver anywhere ?

Hello Martin,

we should be using the skinsharing on the server, so you don't need to send them to me.
A driver and helmet template can be found here, it might be that the driver template doesn't work properly with the F3.5, this is because ISI need to update all cars with the newer drivermodel, as far as I know not all cars had that update yet.
You can find them here

Once you made a seperate helmet and/or driver skin, you can pack them together as a .mas file, which I would prefere, but is not nescesarry.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Intstruction how to do that:
"This addresses the problem of supplementary skin files such as WINDOW.DDS and EXTRA0.DDS files not being transferred along with main skin files by creating a single.MAS archive file with MAS2.

After creating your .DDS files for a car...
Create the path/folder for your custom alt skin (easily done in the Vehicle Tuning in game)
Start MAS2.exe (normally in C:\Users\yourname\Documents\rFactor2\Support\Tools \ folder).
Click Edit then Add Files ....
Navigate to your .DDS files.
Select all files that pertain to a particular car and click OK.
Check that the desired files are listed in MAS2.
Click File then Save as ....
Name the file the same as your main skin .DDS file except the file extension will be .MAS
Move this new .MAS file in the appropriate loose skin folder.
You may delete the .DDS files that were used to create the .MAS (they should not coexist with the .MAS in the destination folder).

EDIT: could see that David already helped you out!

Ian, how do you plan to set the actual event in terms of initial RealRoad condition? Are you thinking of using this type of AI-generated line or starting with a green condition?

Also is the server right now set to accumulate rubber indefinitely across sessions, or does it reset to your 120 laps file each time the weekend restarts?

I will use the 120 laps file when the server is restarted (the AI generated), and after that it is progressing from what we drive on the tarmac.
What I want to do is to save after the first race the rubber, and use the rubber from the first race for the second race so that it keeps progressing after I restarted the server for the second race..
