AC Vintage GT3 @ Monza - Sunday 2nd June 2024

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Nice to be able to do a sunday race again. Did practice races today to be able not to hit anyone and stay on the track my self as well  . A stupid spin in the beginning killed my race, got scared by David running a little wide and my focus was not in the corner anymore, snapped out, spun, so... back to the back. A shame, I had some midpack pace with this car all day today, fun to drive the BMW. Pretty okay consistency too.

Congrats to the podium, thanks Brian!

I saw that in my mirror and felt guilty knowing you had followed my (bad) line. I know how it happens. You had the faster car at that point.

I was catching Han on the last lap as his mediums must have been quite tired and did something very similar att he exit of Ascari. Fortunately only damaged pride and no places lost that time.

That was a lot of fun! No room for mistakes today. Exhausting, but really good. Surprising that I was the only one with an AMG. The car is pretty good. And when I replaced the original hammer drill sound with the RSS Mercer sound, it doubled the fun.

Great event today, with a great variety of cars. I'm already looking forward to the next races.

Had a blast with this one, thx to Hank and Fulvio! We were together so close nearly entire race, at least first half, time went by so fast and I had to do qualy risk and pace every lap as Fulvio was only half a second or less behind sometimes. Great Drive Hank! Tried to push couple laps to the end to maybe come into slipstream range but risked maybe too much at Parabolica, the rear snapped had to countersteer twice to catch it, lost couple seconds. Hank had better top speed so no chance for an overtake. As we pitted we were covered less than a second, great stuff.
My HP reverb G2 has an error since today (error 4-4) and won't connect anymore, think it's some sort of USB problem. So I went with the Quest 2 which was ok, hope it can be fixed, only use the HP since couple months.....
Was awesome to have a full grid.

Thx for organizing and all for showing up.

cu next time

Very happy about the qually from my side, but the race was difficult.

Starting P4, first few laps were quite good but after that, too many little mistakes that allowed Brian behind to catch me up and overtaking me with a good battle in Ascari. After that I tried to chase Brian to fight back (going from 1.4s behind to .4 to 1.4 and so on) but ended up spinning on the second lesmo and losing 4 positions.

Trying to recover from it, I pitted late and went for a very ambitious strategy : don't change tires and try to defend my position (I was on softs since the start lol). Well, not the brightest idea but it was worth a shot.

20mns of pain, no speed in fast curves (left rear tire destroyed), with Rob in my gearbox (and Ernie coming back after his spin, and Paul not really far away), had good battles for several laps, with late breakings on the chicanes, that was good.

Until a very optimistic breaking in the first chicane resulting in me hitting Rob and I'd like to apologise for it. I'm happy that I'm the only one that spinned around and that no others drivers got their race ruined.

Conclusion : Started 4, Finished 9, bold strategy with 2 rear tires completely destroyed and too much little mistakes but thrilling battles on the beginning and ending of the race. Mixed feelings but mostly fun race to drive in ! :)

Also, it has been said before but mega pace from the podium, you guys were uncatchable, congrats to you all !

Thanks to the organizers for this race ! :)

Wow, nice racing out there guys! Truly impressive! Hank was on fire.

That was fun -- even if I thought it would be a good idea to show up directly from another race, with little to no practice, driving a car I've never really tried before. :notworthy:
Good times nonetheless. Sorry I couldn't stick around for after race festivities had to run out for a while.

Thanks for hosting Brian!

Finally got the setup for the Lamborghini, just shows what a couple of years of extra setting up teaches you. Did not spin, just stupidly got a rear tyre on the green stuff.
I have noticed with cars that have some degree of difficulty, I struggle in traffic, get somewhat nervous and don't concentrate as I normally would on the road ahead, I am sure I am not alone in that one, that's where the spin came from.
Driving the Suzuki in the week, that does not happen in quite the same way, probably has a bigger safety net due to its slower pace.
Enjoyed all my battles with Robert, Brian and Mattihieu, plus those who were around for a bit of the "action", Casper in his mighty 911 drive, Rob, David, Han and Paul and anyone else who i came across in this race.
