The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

By the way, how SICK was it when he went over the jump. I cannot wait to experience that. The V3 does a good job in rally and I was certainly convinced I was going over jumps in VR, but this would be amazing to feel. The strength of the car hitting the ground and bouncing back up is going to need to be felt to be believed.

Yes..... I know, but i'm not sure i dare to go so wild in the first couple of runs.

Probably need to build some confidence in the buidl first :D

Just another build log foto.

As you can see i'm building an entire new 80/20 rig. It has a retractable brake plate and will have a foot print of 108x80cm in "transport mode"

Because the rig needs to be portable the wiring is hell of a job and probably will take a couple of days.

Well my plan for the Chinese made profile has fallen over as the inner profile of the extrusion will not accomodate the ballscrew nut.. at least now I won’t have to build a new slide in Fusion 360!

I’ve ordered the extrusion from Germany along with all the other bits from other suppliers.. looking like the end of the month before it all arrives...

I want your tool cabs!
My own workshop/gym is looking VERY sad by comparison. I know what I'm going to be doing this weekend now...

The ballscrew nut was the Main reason choosing that Profile for us..

Well guys, i just had a very brief test in Assetto Corsa with AI driver and me standing on top of the frame and it's exactly what i was expecting it to be, which is

AWESOME

All the small road detail that can be felt, something i always missed with the NLMv3 and tried to compensate with simvibe.

It's fast and quiet

Anyone here from the UK taken the plunge yet? Curious what the best source of parts is and what the total cost comes out at, whether buying from China or Europe offers the better price/performance comparison, whether anyone's found a source for the 3DP bits.

The automatic subtitles are hilarious.

I didn't even think to use them. I barely knew they were a thing. I might have to re check it out with them on.

Hoi that's incredible. Build is coming along quite nicely. Wasn't too long ago that I was on the other side posting pics and entries into my own build log. Was fun. Lovely stuff and it's awesome to hear that it's everything that you / WE hoped it would be, at least from an early test.

Very very excited.

A very big Thanks Jochen, Micha and Florentin.

It's simply incredible that i had a "whole team" to my disposal to solve my problem. You were right, it's all about the wires. :D

Great to talk to you guys and i'm soooo happy with after driving a lap in VR with the Assetto Corsa AI driver.

Really can't wait to have my first proper drive.
