Well regarding these "wet" tyres and such for these wet weather mods with the shaders patch,
and discussing it with David regarding the physics aspect,
he believes creating wet tyres that in the dry will generate much more grip than the dry slicks do,
so just adding them into the physics people will be using the wets to race with ect,
so we need to see if at some point the shaders patch can only allow people to race with wets ingame if its only actually wet on track otherwise just makes no sense currently,
we will have to have a chat with ilja regarding the situation. :)
 
the thing is that wet tyres, on the dry, overheat easily and wears very rapidly if they're not maintained somewhat cold. isn't that reproductible in AC?

Yes but over say 1-2 laps people will be using them for faster times compared to the dry slicks,
wants investigating more what can be achieved correctly with the compounds before just throwing them on the car they want creating correctly with some thought. :)
 
what about a big loss of grip when the wet tyres are overheating? that should prevent it to be used for faster laptimes

I dont know about all this I was just passing over some info we discussed in the team,
currently David who does the physics is saying in his opinion it makes no sense "currently"
without forced rules to only allow the wets when its raining on track,
without that rule I highly doubt we will be making any, currently this is where we are,
the guy knows his business and the physics are his department,
I just do visuals you want wet looking tyres give me a shout.
 
I understand :) I just try to give some temporary solutions :) maybe someone can do an app that adds tyre regulations. but anyway, since there's still no dynamic rain outside visuals, I'm not waiting for wet tyres :)

That was partly our opinion also, there is not even any rain currently,
I believe ilja is working on his own custom particle system, so I can imagine at some point that will be taken care of as well,
also I help with the dev on these tyres are textures with the patch, currently been working on these marbles for the damage, currently the way we have it the ingame settings, and how ilja made the masks for the tyres, would be possible to add the wet tyres over the slicks the treads as well,
ill discuss it with him some more next time I have a chat with him about the tyres and settings,
they should have been completed by now these marbles and skidmarks, I made the entire system in 3d and baked it all but just not convinced with it so most likely will change the direction of it. :)
 
IDK Like I say just dont feel happy with it, been making them 6 months here or there have crazy Dev for the tyres,
but in reality we could add these treads through this system also and have everything controlled through the patch with CM, so need people making major textures and tyres that appear wet can be done with the patch and the normals, anyways ill have a chat with the guy later on about it. :)

and here just a fast test with the patch settings with adding wet tyres the treads ect,

so its possible to have everything self contained inside this patch,
will mean me making maybe 20 sets of different tread patterns to have some variation going on, but go in the pits,
apply the wets and will show tyres with treads, that look more wet ect ect idk like I say lets see what happens but we can do almost anything with this patch with reason. :)

btw, I have a suggestion: how about a S1 version of the Vortex based on the Zakspeed Viper? it didn't run in the FIA GT 2004, but the simple idea that Zakspeed took the Viper, kept its V10 but changed the crankshaft and removed 2 pistons to transform that V10 into a V8 is an interesting concept. it ran in the 2003 24h of Spa in the G2 class, so, it shouldn't be too much of a problem :p especially since it finished 5th overall. 1 lap behind the Larbre Competition Viper

Just wanted to let you guys know, when enabling the rain via the shaders mod, it seems to be affecting the gear shift display on the F55 and F57 (Rains on the display - sort of).

Thanks for your amazing work.

PS: Looks like all the displays in car have this issue. Also, the Wipers on the Tornado does not clean the windshield when rain is activated.
