Squire breaks his duck
At the race that could have been
Ron Squire's last, the Welshman made sure that he won't leave by taking a strong first win. Squire was bumped into the wall early on by
Florin Diaconescu, who was promptly punted into the wall himself at the next corner, but Squire managed to keep his cool and won from
Rami Saidy and
William Neron. it was a good day too across the garage from Squire, as
Cristiano Mauri managed to score his first point. The top 2 in the championship didn't finish.
Jimmy Laad was knocked out by
Allan McNish and
Tobi Kederer retired with a blown engine; ironically, just after taking the lead of the race too.
Ben Utzer blew his engine, pulled off as best he could, but his team mate
Manolis Sigoulakis seemingly couldn't avoid Utzer, crashing into him and terminally damaging his car.
Omer Said had an interesting escapade. after being slightly poked wide around a hairpin, he spun a few times trying to rejoin the track on the slippery grass, before sliding down a long hill! He managed to get back to the track, but there was a wall in the way and Said retired from the race.
