Studio 397 have dropped the news that the fifth and final GT3 car coming to the GT3 Challengers DLC will be... the 2019 Aston Martin Vantage GT3!

Another new licence to the rapidly expanding rFactor 2 racing simulation, confirmation of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is also another sim racing exclusive - with Studio 397 having once again secured bragging rights as the first racing simulation to deploy a brand new spec GT3 car to the genre - joining the recently announced McLaren 720s revealed earlier this week.

In other rather happy news, Studio 397 have also confirmed the GT3 Challengers pack will be released tomorrow! Sadly, due to the tight timeframe constraints of licencing and the approvals process, the Aston Martin will not be made available immediately alongside the Porsche 911 GT3 R, BMW M6 GT3, Audi R8 LMS GT3 and McLaren 720s GT3 - players will have to wait just a little bit longer to find out how the new Aston drives (and looks!) in sim, until final approvals have been released by the manufacturer.

That aside, the imminent release of this upcoming and rather exciting looking new DLC for rFactor 2 should give us all a rather solid reason to avoid having to socialise with family over the Christmas period - that alone being worth the price of the new pack!

GT3 Challengers DLC Contents:
  • Aston Martin Vantage GT3 (delayed release)
  • Audi R8 LMS GT3
  • BMW M6 GT3
  • McLaren 720s GT3
  • Porsche 911 GT3 R

rFactor 2 is available exclusively for PC from Steam now.

@KenBell rFactor2 is not a "Plug & Play" title; it takes a bit of work to get things running well but, it's worth investing some time and effort into imo. Once you have things running well and become immersed in the racing experience, it's really a superb title.

I tried the R8 and the Mclaren )a 30min session in Silverstone)and they are simply amazing in term of driving. The Mclaren feels more stable with the default setup and had much more grip. The R8 feels more alive and more challenging to drive. The new shaders is the big thing of these new cars... the cockpits look more realistic and you can really see the big work done by studio397....

Ok, so having received said content for free and also receiving updates along the way, you then had the choice, not the obligation, to pay a little for new content that you would like to use, yet you are begrudgingly doing so due to a post here?
I'm not sure I understand your issue entirely, sorry.
I'd like to think I usually understand folks.
You normally seem like a logical person but I have no idea where you're going with this.
I'm completely lost.
What I stated is this....
If S397 was going to continue the same tactics their predecessor engaged in, I was not going to give them one red cent.
They don't appear to be continuing that nonsense, therefore I will support them with purchases.
That's not hard to follow ...is it?

In the "Video Res" tab, just set "Antialiasing" to level 4, it makes a huge difference compared to the default level 1.
You could at least ask about what GPU and resolution he runs before recommendations like this. Not everyone runs a 1080Ti and setting antialiasing to level 4 will tank your framerate on many (most?) of the GPUs.

Just about to message the same thing - seriously what's that about!!

According to the release notes for the GT3 Challenger Pack...

These cars are built with our new graphic technology, based on PBR lighting. We are converting more of our older content and yes, we are bringing more liveries to you shortly!

For painters, we are finalising the templates and the technology behind it, trust us, it will be a game changer for you!

So there's more liveries in the pipeline!

Between the missing Aston Martin and the one livery thing, this all kinda gives off the impression it was quite rushed to release it before Christmas. Which, again, I kinda understand, but I would say it might've been better to just postpone the release a bit instead (he says obviously knowing nothing about the possible financial implications), this way it will only reinforce the "promising stuff, but a lot of it unfinished" reputation rF2 tends to have :/

I can't even buy it currently, I just get an error message when I try to add the item to the basket, but I guess that's something Steam related and not S397

Getting

Failed / Audi_R8LMS_GT3_2018 v1.01

Audi_R8LMS_GT3_2018v1.01 requires unknown base mod to be installed /Ausi_R8LAMS_GT3_2018 1.01

Any ideas?
Try Shutting down rF then restarting. I had to restart rF twice to get it all installed. There should be two folders v1.00 + 1.01 in your Audi_R8LMS_GT3_2018 directory located in rFactor 2 /Installed /Vehicles. It appears the 1.00 folder didn't install correctly.

I ran all the cars at Sebring first, tried the 911 with TC and ABS off and it was fantastic, the rest are a bit of a handful with the ABS and TC off until I work on setups.

Then ran a 10 lap race in the 911 at Silverstone GT with TC on 1 and ABS on 4, what a blast! Started 7th and managed to come 3rd with AI on 100% and was fighting with 2nd the whole race but just couldn't make the pass stick.

I have no idea why I don't run rF2 more, but I guess that's about to change :D

I report this things for people who don't know/didn't watch the live on Twitch. Rene Buttler was asked about the new competition system, here are some things I heard (wasn't watching the live, I had it in background while doing something else); the system will kick off in January in its WIP mode and there will be no ranks, no licenses or whatever you want to call them, no matchmaking system because it's a WIP. But it will feature daily races. Don't know how many races and which content will be used.
This is what I heard. Quite excited, I hope the new competition system brings new life to the multiplayer. Personally I hope they implement and iRacing-ish system. It works very well, I hope for some official series

Oh, and on a side note, I asked if Formula E Gen 2 cars were in the works and Rene laughed asking what is Formula E:roflmao:
