Studio 397 have been busy with their rFactor 2 simulation, adding a raft of new updates that include the 2020 variation of the fabled Le Sarthe Circuit..
  • New updated adds Le Mans 24hr 2020.
  • Berlin, Silverstone and New York receive updates.

From the speed, noise and drama of Le Mans, to the innovation, electrical power and action of Formula E - content in rFactor 2 has been on the receiving end of the Studio 397 update treatment today, with a new patch having been deployed to the rFactor 2 simulation that brings a number of nice changes and improvements to four key racing venues within the title.

First up, and arguably the most high profile of the lot is a fresh 2020 update to the recent Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe DLC track within the sim. Now updated to version 2.51, the track has enjoyed a fresh pass by the art and team at Studio 397 to update it to the 2020 setup, including new signage and a selection of minor adjustments.

Other goodies brought about in this new update include a nice refresh for one of the older tracks within the title, as the home of the British Grand Prix (twice this year!) at Silverstone gets a good going over, with an endurance layout added, plus plenty of visual improvements and proper night lighting.

Berlin and New York from Formula E land have also been updated, details of which you will find below:

Le Mans 2018/2020 v2.51
  • Added 2020 advertisements
  • Adjusted LODs on brake markers
  • Improved grass colour
  • Added some adjustments to run off road colours
Berlin FE 2020 v1.07
  • More accurate racesurface
  • Added night-lighting
  • Fixed various collision issues
Silverstone v2.10
  • Fixed floating pit-out lights on old pit exit
  • Fixed various object popping issues
  • Fixed minor road gaps
  • Some Curb Adjustments for accuracy at Club & Copse
  • Slight tweaks to colour balance
  • Added Endurance layout with extra trackside lighting for nighttime racing
New York FE 2020 v1.05
  • Fixed minor camera activation issue

rFactor 2 is available exclusively on PC.

The DLC system is a bit of a disaster for sure. The only reason i know what i have is because i bough it all - except the "two strong" pack.

I also dont like that rF2 need workshop AND own install of all content taking up double the space. Other games seem to be able to run the workshop content directly from the workshop folder instead of needing it installed in the games own folders as well. A 500MB track for example is 1GB on your disk with rF2.
That, and the fact that they do absolutely atrocious customer support on their forum for people who have problems with paid cars makes me not want to play rF2 anymore. There was a thread by a guy who was complaining about problems with a paid car and they just told him to refund - but with Steam's item store it's clearly written that you can only refund 48 hours after purchase, other than with DLCs that fall under the regular 14 days refund policy.

the whole reason they used the item store instead of regular DLC was to allow third party paid mods, which never happened. The game has so many underlying problems, very frustrating :(

How are we getting on with an option to be able to select individual cars like in RRRE? RF2 is a brilliant title severely let down by certain options in the UI/menu system. The game seems to select the same car from a class over and over.
Not sure about the new UI, but choosing individual cars has been a part of the old UI for a long time:

rF2 you can make rfmod in 1 minute then run a private server offline and select any car you included
in mod from the garage ! NO OTHER SIM DOES THIS !@!

You can make the mod with 1 skin per model and use as Hotlap session and retain ALL SECTORS IN ALL CARS you drive during the session and have only one car of each model
You can select up to 25 different cars, so you can include all GT packs + RSS IMSA + URD Ford + others

This is unique

so rather then pick on the things it don't do or do well how about applauding the things you can do :x3::barefoot:

So I can pick the exact car? And not just a GT3 Porsche?
Watch the video the first 15 minutes or so explains it. If you know the exact name of the car in-game, you can load it once you are at the track. Whether you want 4 precise Porsches, 2 AMG with the skin and number you want,, 15 Orecas or any other car for that matter. . With the old UI that is, The new UI has the same process but there appear to be some bugs still there. The key is researching what is available on your install of rF2 and writing down which cars you want to pick.

Thx. Is the BMW GTE an official car of the race ? I do not remember seeing any on track at the event … not allowed ? or is the performance of the car not on par with the other GTEs ?
No, BMW was not scheduled to compete this year, so it was left off the entries for the virtual race. Corvette was originally entered, but later cancelled due to Corona restrictions, so they were allowed in. Porsches, Astons, Corvettes, Orecas, did I forget any?

There were not any teams in the virtual Le Mans. You can still add it. I added the M8 and the URD Ford GT GETAM and GTEPRO from the Global Endurance MOD. All we really need is the C8.R now.

Nice!

Now how's about an update for this "one time upgrade" offer which was mentioned in the last paragraph of the June Roadmap.
The one directed towards some of us long-time customers who were screwed on the DLC packs during this last Steam Summer Sale????

My wallet is ready (within reason of course) ;)

I take it RD didn't allow an external link? For the video I mean.
