DiRT 2.0 Rally Argentina Gameplay.jpg

We've had some time in DiRT Rally 2.0 recently, and on Friday evening we will be showing some unedited gameplay from the challenging Argentinian stages..

The car? Has to be the Ford Escort Cosworth. The rally? Argentina. The stages? Difficult... !

Make a date in the diary for 19:00 UTC on Friday 22nd February as we hit five stages of rally action from the Argentinian rally within DiRT 2.0 - the much anticipated new rally game from gaming giant Codemasters.

The video on Friday will simply be unedited gameplay, but if you want to check out our review of the upcoming title, and of course enjoy some 'Talk n Drive' fun (that should be a challenge), then stay tuned to RDTV on Twitch in the coming days and laugh at my woefully inadequate rallying skills, helped no end by a lack of handbrake.. because rally cars don't want to go sideways do they...

DiRT Rally 2.0 will release February 26th 2019.

If you want to discussion the game with our passionate community, and read about the latest news, check out the RaceDepartment DiRT Rally 2.0 Sub Forum for a great place to pick up mods, catch the latest news and chat about the game with our community. Give it a go, just keep it DiRTy!

I cranked suspension to 150% but doesn't imo do enough. I hope they could improve it, physics itself seems great (aside tarmac, but it's not as bad as I feared)

Although one other major complaint, no option to use authentic gear method per car (manual vs. seq), have to change it from menu every time, if I want to use the correct shifting method.

Also FOV is kinda borked in triple screen, when trying to use the dashcam (inside the car, but no wheel). The dials are cropped out, because triples zooms the image in closer. Changing FOV won't affect this view

Yeah tarmac is still sketchy. There is something about the tire or suspension model that doesn't cope well with the undulations and cambers of Spain for some reason.

Agree about the gearbox. Should be as in DR. A plus though is that you can use paddles or seq stick at the same time!

Dashcam is fixed FoV. The slider only affects bumper, bonnet and head cam.

Yeah and it totally makes sense for single screen. But the problem is, in Nvidia Surround, the image "zooms" a bit, kind of like adding it's own FOV (or actually reducing it). Which results in the tacho/speedometer etc. getting clipped outside of image. Same thing happened in Dirt Rally

If you select wheel and hands off the head cam should pretty much achieve the same thing?

Myself, I'm missing the old dash cam, but on PC that is easily fixed at least :)

I'm not sure I follow Ole? You still intoxicated from the Swedish Rally or something? :D

Haha, I don't drink. Must be that I am exhausted by standing in the road slowing drivers down after Rovanperä, two JWRC, two historic Kadetts and a Fabia R5 went off. And then the Fabia went off the next day as well!

What I mean is, that my controller setup is with both paddles and stick as shift up and shift down. However, when I drive with sequential in the game, only the paddles work. Not my stick.

I have to say, the more i play this, the more i started to like it. Even with the lack of roadfeel in ffb, DR2 is really awesome and i can't stop playing. Even with the fwd 205 and golf GTi, the physics are truly amazing.

I'm very unimpressed. The FFB is not good at all on my Fanatec, I spent from 00;00 when it released to get something half decent.
I spent the last hour just simply driving the tarmac in the Aston trying to get a bog standard road working.
It's for the want of a better word 'mushy'.
When I tried muddy, wet conditions there was little point me being there doing anything.
I hope they patch this as I'm way past refunding.
Wait before you buy this is my advice, potential for another flop IMHO.
OMG, the Porsche is laughable BTW, I had to stop because I thought it was me. Imagine 6 inch wheels in 7 inches of mud and the FFB that would give you. Honestly, that's what I thought!
I'm sure a patch will fix this.

But, but Gamermuscle loves it so it must be an awesome sim :roflmao:

Here in Finland many ppl too are complaining about ffb, pc and ps4 users. I have this now on Xbox(X), but only briefly I tested this with pad last night. Have to check steering wheel -driving feel this evening, with my Fanatec CSW v2/ CSL LC pedals. I can use either rims with un.hub, Xb-compatible whole wheel or any of my wheelrims with drive hub-adapter.

Yup, FFB is surprisingly poor (T300 here), unfortunately.

Lots of players seems surprised at how bad the FFB is !

Codies have never been good at FFB when it comes to wheels anyway.

In fact they are light years away from Kunos level of FFB

It's the sound and graphics that sell the games when it comes to Codies.

I also found the FFB to be somewhat lacking on my CSP V2.5 but then I stumbled across this post...

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1663123655

Followed the instructions and added ffb_force="8.0" and ffb_friction="1.5" to the end of the Fanatec strings in the device_defines file (just copied from the tm_ts_pc entry and modified the numerical value), and this made a dramatic difference to the FFB for me!

Still needs tweaking but a huge improvement.

I have CSP V1,5

What is your ingame FFB settings ?

Most seems to be around Self aligning force

I tried each and everyone and don't feel much difference apart from Self aligning force

I basically only feel weight transfer :(

I think codies just made an error with the FFB files. The generic force value is supposed to be at 10 not .9 in the xml. As MapoUK said, if you change the files to a higher number, Ive heard from 5-10 and friction from 1.5-3.5, have made a big difference. I feel like some wingnut just didnt change the values before launch. Most likely will see a patch for that real soon.

That would be logic, if we also had the same option for G27 in the xml. However, I didn't see that.
