@SwannyUK

Just wanted to ask you about the pit window. I know you are replicating the real series, but I’m just wondering if it’s the best way for us?

My thinking is if someone incurs significant damage, then they have to pit for repairs, then again in the pit window, effectively ending their race. If it happens early, it’s going to be quite a long uneventful race.

At least without the pit window, they can do their repairs and mandatory tyre change at the same time and hopefully still have a chance to get back into the race.

I’m going to be completely honest here, I didn’t have any idea about this agreement!

Just as well me and P2 got away line astern as I would have been defending into T1 if I had too!

I think it’s safe to say now that we have a group here who aren’t going to do something stupid in the opening exchanges, so we should hopefully be good for the next one.
How could you miss my beautifully edited picture demonstrating what we had in mind? I spent hours on that!

P.S - took me literally a minute

I'll look in to it, I'm not sure what the options are regarding stops. I'd think if you get significant damage it's going to be game over with the pit stop repair time anyway (all the more reason to take care I suppose) but I'll see what options there are.

In the LFM races, the 45 minute races have a mandatory stop which can be taken at anytime.

I agree about repairing significant damage, but even innocuous contacts (driver error or contact with another car) can easily add 20-30 seconds damage. If you can keep it on the track and put and repair early, you at least have a chance of getting back in the game rather than be completely cut adrift either towing to garage, or hobbling around waiting for pit window to open.

If I’m not racing anyone, that’s when my mind drifts to eating food, and more mistakes!

I've asked the question. The option is there to set mandatory pit stop to 1 but leave pit window to zero so I presume that will work but just want confirmation from Dan T.

Pit Stops
I've had it confirmed that we can set the server to require a pit stop but get rid of the pit stop window. This means you can pit anytime during the race for your mandatory tyre change (add fuel and repair damage optional)

As Andrew pointed out this means you can potentially get back in the race if you get damage outside of the current pit stop window I.E - Pit to sort the damage when it happens, change your tyres at the same time then that's your mandatory stop done.

I'm happy to get rid of the pit stop window if everyone else is?

If it helps for keeping the field on the server and not that people leaving because they have two stops to make for repair and a mandatory pitstop etc. than i'm fine with it.
But i'm not sure if it makes a difference at all.
Often i see a "made mistake, lost position/chance of win/podium and than quit" behaviour.

Just one thought from me about this series in general.
Maybe this a bit too much wishful thinking, but i would love to see different racelenght leant to the real series.
Like 45' for sprint and 60' for up to 3hr and 75' for longer than 3hours real race calender.
And than, with a 1.5 or 2time fuel/tyrewear for the longer races.

@Fiberoptix I'm wondering if your positioning at the start had something to do with the penalty too. It seemed like you got the jump on everyone which is unusual in the Aston as it's a bit slow to get going usually. Maybe you went a fraction early and being in the middle of the 2 by 2 the game thought you were trying to be sneaky :D
I wasn't consciously but it looks bang to rights in this picture doesn't it!

@akephoe It would take a lot longer to set the series up with different times like that. Also due to the start time anything over 45mins starts to finish a bit late.

Probably not then, that sounds like that's what happened to me. A disqualification seemed a bit harsh but I guess those are the rules. I will practice some pit stops. I am too used to lazily flying in with Asseto Corsa and letting it automatically slow me down. Thanks for the tip.
Exactly the same for me, too used to AC.

I'm going to map a button for limiter now, rather than relying on auto limiter kicking in. It's too easy to be slightly over 31mph at the line.

Another couple of small tips for you guys. If you are using manual ignition and starter buttons, when you stop on you marks use the ignition button to kill the engine immediately, then back on again when on the jacks, ready to hit the starter.

I know it sounds obvious, but previously I always used the starter button to kill the engine as I though the ignition was unavailable during the actual pit stop. Using the starter takes a second or so longer.

Also, good to practice exactly where to stop in the box, as there are two markers (on screen one and a physical board held by the mechanic).

I use the black virtual one with yellow chevrons. For me, I change my view from cockpit to bonnet cam. If I stop with the bonnet level with the second from top chevron, the car goes up straight away. If you over shoot, or stop too early, the game starts this animation to get you into the correct position, and then the pit stop actually starts. This can cost you a good couple of seconds.

So it’s worth testing with your particular car and view precisely where to stop based on the pit boards for a smooth stop.

I don't understand why people quit, I make a point of always finishing regardless of my position. You can learn a lot and also reflect on what you can do different next time. You can also pick up places by keeping going.

For me racing is about more than winning or podium finishes (just as well as I am not fast enough to regularly fight at the sharp end).

I have only quit one RD race early and that was AC Bathurst as I was a danger to other drivers due to my constant errors!

Thanks, I am using auto ignition and starter but I will look at mapping the buttons to try that.

Events updated - pitstop window removed.

There is still a mandatory stop for tyres but take the stop whenever you like during the race.

Don't forget you can add fuel whilst tyres are being changed and wont lose any time. Most will be running half of the tank required to finish the race during the first stint then top up.

I've created my own livery for the series. I've kept it simple using the in game designer to set the colours then just added a few decals so even if you don't download the livery you'll still see my colours and know its me.

Download HERE and copy the Cars and Liveries folders to Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\Customs

If anyone else wants to use a custom livery drop me a link to it via PM and I'll add a master list to the first post.

If you start looking for a livery please try and pick one that has files in the Liveries folder called sponsors_0 and or Decals_0. This is a new way of doing liveries since 1.8 and reduces any freezes when joining a server.

Tutorials are available on youtube, HERE is the one I followed

hi @SwannyUK
so its a gentleman agreement that after green green green we drive @the exact same speed thru the Variante del Rettifilo (the first chicane)? Or do we push and @the end we choose one line ? From my view its a good idea or is this not set???
Or what is the thought for the race at wednesday?
questions over questions :)

Not set, race as normal but just take extra care and leave room. We tested it in the warm up race but majority prefer to race as normal due to others getting better starts etc.
