So just while we're here, an idea that will come into force next season in one way or another is a form of season carryover.
While I'm not one to tilt the scales such that it'll become the same people winning every season, I think this option is a fair one for everyone.
Namely, variation values will be scaling with championship position at season start.
So an example (using values that probably won't be used)
With variation movement, we're looking at giving 200 to new drivers, 250-300 scaling for drivers returning.
So the champion would have 300 variation, second probably 290, third/fourth/fifth maybe 280, sixth to tenth at 270, all other main game drivers at season end would be 260, all drivers that were testers or had a seat at some stage through the season would be 250 (maybe managers too) and then new drivers are at 200. (like I said, example values, unlikely to be used)
Why do this? High variation doesn't guarantee all the extra performance, but increases the chances of a large boost. A rookie, even with 200 variation could still absolutely dominate the season, the champion could still be smashed through the opening few rounds. It's all still a chance. But now a returning driver does have a value added to them. New drivers start equal on cash balance, but now will be a bit behind in terms of variation, thus wouldn't be expected to perform instantly. It provides an incentive for someone new to join and take a testing role thus they can learn and then have the 'base' variation for a returning driver.
I'll work through some values, as we want to keep it reasonably fair, we can't just run rookies out of the series, but lets create some value for drivers that continue to take part season after season.
