RDFIA Press Release
So with the second round of voting done, and the RDFIA chosen tracks added in, here are the final tracks to be added and a first look at this seasons calendar.
Note that should there be any problems with the track, the RDFIA reserves the right to postpone and/or replace tracks with no further voting.
French Grand Prix -
Dijon-Prenois
The French round of the series makes a move away from Magny Cours to the hilly Circuit Dijon Prenois instead. The race has been tested in the GPGSL and we are trusting that it should provide a good spectacle for the fans. We should note that the French Grand Prix will not be permanently based here, but is likely to return often. RDFIA chosen.
Singapore Grand Prix -
Marina Bay Street Circuit
One of the three tracks picked by the RDFIA for this season, Singapore polled well through the two rounds, and as such the RDFIA was willing to give the circuit a run. With no Monaco this season, the Singapore round will pick up the mantle of the premier harbour side street circuit instead.
Mexican Grand Prix -
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
The final track hand picked by the RDFIA, and just like Singapore, the Mexican track polled well twice. The track previously hosted F1, and will be again soon it seems. As such, the owners were eager to have FFG come to use the track in the meantime.
Austrian Grand Prix -
Österreichring
The Austrian round was dropped from the calendar, much like Hungary and the US. But while Hungary returns to the Hungaroring and the US moves to a new circuit in Road America, the Austrian round stays at the same place but with a menacingly different track. Indeed, we've gone about 15 years back in time or so, to when the A1-Ring was the Österreichring and racing wasn't as straightforward or safe. But we're expecting a good race.
South African Grand Prix -
Kyalami (Classic)
Voted in this year, top flight single seater racing returns to South Africa and the classic layout of the Kyalami circuit. Looking for a wider and faster track, the newer version was looked over, the success of the previous layout won over the voting contingent and thus was brought onto the calendar.
Pacific Grand Prix -
Mount Panorama Circuit
Lastly, in a real coup for the Australians in the series, the second round of voting brought Bathurst to the calendar. While the race won't be going for anywhere near 1000km, we are sure that the moniker "The Great Race" should apply just as well here.
Thus, this is what the calendar will look like next season, no dates as of yet.
