Back to back wins for Keranen
Aussie Aidan Keranen could carry on his strong form to the United States Grand Prix. Starting the race from pole position, he took his second win this season, closely followed by Xen Foro. From the start on these two pulled away from the rest of the field, however Foro's Ferrari lacked the speed on the straights to have a realistic chance to get past the McLaren. So the team decided to try to get into the lead during the pitstops, scheduling Foro's stop a couple of laps after Keranen's. The tactic worked, and Foro came out just ahead. As previously mentioned the McLaren was faster on the straights though, so Keranen had no troubles getting past the Ferrari when they came towards turn 1 the following lap. Foro could keep up, but Keranen was experienced enough to not give him any chance.
Third place went to Andy Graham, with his second podium in a row he's now up to second in the standings, 23 points behind Keranen. In fourth the other rookie Ishikawa, who was clearly faster than his more experienced teammate Chant today. Sigoulakis took 5th, his form curve seems to be on the rise. 6th place went to Ancevski, starting from 4th he lost some places in the opening laps. After the pitstops he was in 7th behind Engberink, but in the final laps he could get past the OMR driver whose tyres had hit the cliff. Engberink lost 2 more places to Laad and Rautavaara, finishing 9th ultimately. The final point went to Daniel Harvey.
Chant in 11th had a quiet race, with big gaps to both the drivers ahead and behind. The Mobil 1 Mercedes drivers showing signs of improvement, finishing in 12th and 14th today. Between them Ben Utzer, the OMR boss had a troublesome race. Having started from 8th he made two mistakes, which cost him much time. Said and Saidy in 15th and 16th, both still with troubles adapting to their new cars. In the final three spots are Herbert, Wolf and Rinneaho, having damaged their cars in a start collision they didn't have any chance for a proper result today.
